Ayden Heaven | 2024/25 Performances

Definitely already better than Lindelöf. Should be higher up the pecking order than Lindelöf and get all the minutes we would otherwise have given to Lindelöf and Evans (when he is fit again)
Forgot about Evans. Is he still playing, or collecting a wage as a professional footballer? He would probably suit a back three, so a shame really.

He did his job, and - for one so young, and amongst a shit show of seasoned pros who don’t do theirs - well, that’s brilliant.

Well done son, a great performance.

He didn't do well in his last appearance in this system.

Really enjoyed his cameo. Looked very composed and confident as if he was a regular starter.

I saw him in one of the U21 games and he was a bit rusty so I thought he was much further away from the first team. But good to see he is ready to step up and take his chance

Did well in the limited things he had to do, but let's not do that thing where people vastly overrate a young players ability and potential based on them looking semi-competent for half an hour.

No, he was incredible.

Or, put another way, I'm finding it hard to believe Ayden Heaven.

In contrast to Obi, you can't say that he is not ready physically. The kid is already a monster.

What I think is interesting about him in terms of his skillset is that he has that ability to step up into midfield. When we need to attack someone in the three has to do that. While Martinez can pick a pass, Heaven will attack space.

If I'm not mistaken I think he actually started off as a midfielder, and he does look comfortable with the ball.

It was reported - when we got him - that him and his camp, at one point, wanted him to be developed as a midfielder, but Arsenal didn’t see it and that caused tension - and that fractured relationship was one of the factors for him to leave them

I guess in a 3-4-3 ideally you would want one of the 3 to step into midfield, so maybe that was part of the discussions. That yes, he would be used as a defender, but he'd be expected like Martinez to have some freedom offensively.

I agree that he's more of a defender than a midfielder from what I've seen, but yeah, he suits our system more if he's good enough.

I'd like to see him start at LCB tomorrow.

Back three of Yoro/De Ligt/Heaven is balanced, and it helps majorly with ability to play out with him and Dorgu being left footed.
