"disgraceful" and "bully" in two short sentences in one post to describe players in red!! I know who's being disgraceful here. Guess you never know what passion really means eh!This was disgraceful, it shouldn't be in here.
It wasn't passion, just a bunch of players trying to bully a ref.

Why? Its not okay when the team was fighting for glory on your behalf so you enjoy being fans of a winning team. Who are you to judge how they should behave (objectively speaking, if they acted out of order, they would be carded. Who are you to judge!!!)Don't be silly. He's right. It's ok to say when we've acted like dicks.

When you see this it brings back very strong memories, but also makes you realize as fan, how times have changed. As @Moriarty says, you may call us grumpy old gits, but when you could stand, carry your banners, wear your scarves and act as you wanted without Stewards trying to kick you out the atmosphere at finals was immense. Each final in the 70s had a special atmosphere, and they are incomparable to today's finals.
Being lucky as a season ticket holder to go to all the finals, it was sad to see the United and opposing fans atmosphere at Cardiff, Wembley, Moscow, Rome, even Barcelona to an extent. We have by some distance the best away support, always have had, but what we see at PL away games never gets carried forward to finals. Even in '99 the semi against Arsenal, perfect atmosphere, you could only hear United, but then in the final against Newcastle pretty poor by both sides.
i am not irish don't ask me about drinking?! lolEh? I'm a fan. On an internet forum. Have you been drinking?
Interestingly we got Southampton away in '77 in the cup in one of the early rounds I managed to get a ticket from one of my dad's mates who lived in Southampton. Absolute brilliant atmosphere. United went ahead twice and many fans raced onto the pitch each time we scored. It sounded as though 3/4 of the ground were United. Right bunch of thugs we were. Ended 2-2 and we beat them in the return at OT. Loved the Doc and the whole era then. It was amazing how proud people were to sing 'brummie reds', 'cokney red', 'tartan reds' ...etc are 'reds are every fecking where'. Still remember wearing Oxford Bags, Polished Doc Martins, Doctors coat, Cap, scarves. Probably look a right dick now a days, though we did re-do a 70s away day trip to Blackburn once that went down well. The 1976 final was a bit special, even after the final whistle blew and we'd lost to Southampton, the noise level from United fans was incredible. I remember going down to Albert Square to see the lads and to hear The Doc promise that we'd be back the next year. But the run up to that game was also special. United put a token scheme in place for tickets so reserve games were well attended. I think they even put a token on the programme sheet for a youth match. We got to the ground a few hours before the tickets went on sale and a good time was had by all in the queue, which seemed to stretch for miles around the ground and up Warwick Road.
The 77 final was fantastic. Nobody really doubted that we'd win, even though Liverpool were firm favourites. I dug out my old butcher's coat, scrawled "Greenhoff, J" on it, and was ready for Wembley. The funny thing was bumping into a lost Scouser on Wembley way who'd got separated from his mates. He told us that he was heading off to Rome as soon as the game was over, even though he didn't have a ticket. I hope he managed to get in.

Seriously you can't have your cake and eat it. If you ever been involved even at the lowest level in any sporting game, you need to have some passion to play, without which the competition is nothing.
It's Radford. George Graham also sneaking in there. One of my favourite photos for some reason. Is that the game when Ure and Law were sent off? I recognize McClintock but is that John Radford on the right of Bestie? If so, Best has just beaten two of Arsenal's big lads to a header.
Classy.
Lovely bit of racial stereotyping there.
Whereas in another match (at Tottenham), Law (United captain) booted Fitzpatrick, because United had let a goal in.
No idea what this was all about but Wyn Davies (who later played for United) is here getting in between Nobby and Denis. Looks like John Fitzpatrick who's holding Law back. The geordie on the deck looks like he's just clattered United's goalie (might be Jimmy Rimmer).
That's hardly racist

It was a joke in response to someone accusing me of having been drinking. Its not meant to be an insult (even if he was trying to demean my post. Anyhow, I guess a bystander like you would jump to the opportunity. What can I do? Do i need to apologise to anyone who's being offended?Classy.

Thats the world we are living in right now. Some people don't have independent intelligent judgement any more. It's PC gone back if you ask me. Use your brain is all I am asking.Well it is a bit. But more so it's perpetuating the stereotype that all irish people are alcoholics/heavy drinkers.
The joke in that post was responding to someone who's Irish (well his location is Ireland) and I have a wee feeling he wouldn't mind one bit when being accused of drinking (many Irish I know are actually proud of such accusation!)Well it is a bit. Plus, drinking is NOT = alcoholics/heavy drinkers.
You're the one who stray out of topic and then quoting all my off topic posts. That's not really what the implication was though was it? Well at least not how it read to me.
I'm not overly offended (i'm Irish myself btw) i just hate stereotypes like that about anyone, and always call people on them.
But anyway lets not get into a pointless 20-30 post debate in a thread like this one that Moriarty is updating with nice old pictures, how about we just chalk it off as a poor choice of words and leave it at that.
Nice.
The feels.
Lovely isn't it!! I know where I will visit when I am not happy with our current football. I can even go a bit further to say this thread can save lives. Thank you OP Mali_Zeus. And I love this picture very much!!!!Didn't think it was possible to fall in love with a thread

My suggestion is, go out drink some beer and take it easy. No one minds if you drink or not. And hate is a big word. I wasn't stereotyping anyway. Now discussion closed. Thanks
