Australian Open 2010

How can you have five set points and not take one of them?

As good as Federer is, he is frustrating to watch because he is just so efficiently perfect at times.

Fed was playing in 3rd gear for most of the match. The few times he had to step up and fecking hell did he step up or what, is what won him the match.

Murray didnt stand a fecking chance!!!

Murray didn't turn up fully today being honest he left his serve in the semi final and when he doesn't serve well the rest of his game suffers. Just wasn't his day today and Federer was far too ruthless to let Murray away with serving the way he did but at least he will learn from this for the rest of the season.

Give him credit where it's due

He deserves no credit whatsover. He was utter gash and choked on virtually all the big points. Absolutely no hint of criticism or analysis by the pricks at the BBC either. Tim Henman may as well be Trevor fecking Brooking for all the interesting things he says. Wanker.

Fantastic set that

It's easy with the grace and efficiency that Federer possesses to forget that the man has immense bottle especially in the biggest of matches

well done Murray but well done Fed too just too good

Threw it away in the 3rd. The mind may have been strong, but the legs were week. Beating Federer on any surface is an uphill task. Well done Muzza lad, sterling effort.

Now get to fecking bed esmufc07

Give him credit where it's due, that tie break was just dependant on luck and none of the set points were on his serve. Great 3rd set that and a top finish. Worth Champion as always Federer.

Oh definately so, I recall watching Murray 18 months ago in the US open final and that match was embarassingly one-sided at times, this though despite not being at his best Murray did himself service and he will get closer too. If there is one thing to take from this tournament moreso than ever in the past that it is a question of when for him.

Tie-breaks = 20% luck, 80% skill/nerves. Hence why the likes of Federer, Nadal and Sampras have amazing tie-break records. Nerves of steel and capable of striking when it counts instead of having jelly legs.

 Of course, he does. He's also anti-English so I'm delighted that he's lost, can't stand the arrogant git. :D

Are you still harking back to that joke he made, which even the reporter who asked the question then cleared up later that it was a backstage joke between Henman and Murray that carried on into the press conference.

Of course it wouldn't be like the tabloids to infer something that wasn't true, that was the best part of five years ago now and people still refer back to it.

When? He'll have to hope someone a lot lower ranked makes it through the other half of the draw the next time he reaches one because if he meets anyone of similar standing he wont have the stones to beat them.

For those of us who watch Tennis all year and Murray we know if his serve isn't 100% he will struggle against any player with his all round game. When his serve isn't 100% the likes of Federer is far too good a player to let anyone away with poor serving.

His serve has become a big part of his game these days and up until the Final it was winning him easy points and games but in the final it wasn't there to let him to do it.

Federer again has shown that he's just the best player ever! And you always had the feeling that he didnt have to be at his very best. As others said, he has balls as well!
As for Murray, feel a bit sorry for him, he tried hard, but he just wasnt good enough. So much pressure on his shoulders wont make it easier for him.

Joke? Murray has no sense of humour. Like most Scots he is instinctively anti-English. Just because he tried to "clear it up" doesn't make it not so.

Murray was always going to lose that match. He looked like he was on his last legs in the 3rd set while Federer was hardly breaking a sweat.

Feel sorry for him though. Shame he came up against the best tennis player ever.

Too easy for Federer. Murray completely bottled it.

The coverage though has been sickeningly biased. I know its the BBC but still.

Federer for the calender slam this year...

with nadal not looking like his old self it gives federer a great chance to add to his one french title this year... and he always starts wimbledon as favourite... and then the us...

by no means easy... but must be one of the best chances he will have and although he is going to go down as the best ever that would be a landmark achievement as well...

16 slams now and the way he was playing you have got to think he could get to 20 before he retires...

what a player!

Federer is playing with far less pressure than he did a couple of years before the french open that he won. It's a joy watching him play like this again. As a tennis player (amateur), there's so much to learn about perfection tennis by just watching him play.

Having said that, it would be nice if he can have another nemesis.

Fed's lost 6 finals as well. Jeez. He would have been well over 20 if it wasnt for Nadal.

Talking about Nadal, whats the latest with him?

I read in one paper that he may only have 2 years left in the game because of the injury, surely that cant be true? If it is, its a great shame.

Not really sure about his current injury status or its severity but tbh I wont be surprised if his legs and especially his knees give in early. He exerts so much pressure on them. While thats one of the key aspects of his game, unfortunately its also the undoing of him as a tennis player.
Hope he comes back soon and fully fit to ply his trade for a lot more years. Some of the most epic tennis matches recently had him playing in them. Fed is just too good for the rest of them.

Wouldn't it be sweet to be Federer, you just have to turn up and you know you'll win.

Murry's like the pom version of Hewitt, you'll all root for him for a few years then you'll realise what an utter cnut he is.

It doesnt sound to good :(

Totally agree, his matches with Fed are just brilliant, and he really is the only one that can beat Fed at his best. Its amazing to think that Nadal has a far better head to head record against Feb in the Slam finals. Just shows how good Nadal can be.

on the court he is, reckons he's top shit.

meanwhile i just want to have another dig a hewitt, that piece of shite - just imagine having a conversation with him!

just thinks he's top shit, or that's the vibe i get.

did an incredibly urge to punch him in the face wash over you?
