Australia vs India

Clear skies is the weather forecast for the next 2 days.
We need a miracle.
Dravid 3 runs from 30 balls. :|

This match has captured the Australian publics imagination

I think I count more players on the pitch than in the crowd

Amusingly the 'where the ball pitched' graphic still shows a digitised sell out!

India 1/27 in reply. Mr Jaffer out playing a nothing shot ..

Gilchrist passing Ian Healy for number of wicketkeeping dismissals. Second now behind Boucher. Congratz to him :)

Congrats to Gilchrist, although I think Ian Healy is the best ever keeper.

Dravid given out LBW - Symonds offspin

Thank christ for that, 16 from 116 balls or something

That was an appalling batting performance by India, showed no heart or bottle at all in either innings. Dravid in particular was hopeless in both innings. India dug themselves into a whole with their negative tactics, they didn't seem to have a clue about how to go out and make some runs.

I think Dravid might be dropped after this. This is what happens when you try to be too clever with your team, they were so desperate to get Yuvraj in they have messed the balance of the team up. Might be time to get Sehwag to open so at least they have an attack minded opener because Jaffer and Dravid didn't seem at all interested in making a few runs.

If they drop Dravid it'll be the biggest mistake they make all tour, aside from pathetically giving the first match to the Aussies.

Where is the next match being played?Gabba?

Yuvraj is our problem. The whole setup had to be change to include this useless cock in the test team.

The Indian team prepares dead pitches against Pakistan ensuring their 1-0 victory was not overwhelmed, then you complain your batsmen can't bat on livelier pitches. You got what you deserved, and more to come as your batsmen don't have a clue with the swinging/bouncing ball at the moment.

It's not just Indian pitches. Most of the ones on the Sub continent are dead. I have no idea why.

That's true, but India went out of their way to completely kill off the series after their first test victory. You reap what you sow I guess.

From what I've heard, i think they're trying to create an Aussie/Perth style wicket at Bangalore. But it's just not working. But I agree, though, playing on dead pitches is the worst thing for batsmen in the long run. And it can't be good for the fast/seam bowlers. . . the amount of toil they must have to endure.

Sachin, Dravid and Laxman have a very good record outside India, so the pitches are not to blame.

They are when all your star batsmen (Yuvraj, Tendulkar and Dhoni) scored thousands of runs against Pakistan and then failed to score 200 between them in 5 days. They are all out of touch because your board deliberately fixed the pitches so they would beat Pakistan, i.e. nullifying Gul, Shoaib and even Kaneria.

Now, suddenly these same batsmen can't handle half decent bowlers like Clark on a helpful pitch because your batsmen didn't get the right practice at home. Same happens to Pakistan time and again - its called short-termism.

India beating Pak was probably higher on the boards list rather than preparing properly for Australia, who would just beat you anyway.

You need to get Sehwag into the side somehow to open with either Jaffer or Dravid. Might give you more of a balance with Sehwag known for scoring quick runs whereas the other two take it very slowly.. I still remember that 195 he made in one day against Aus I think, he is a fecking nightmare when on form .. Same with Dravid, i will never forget that 300+ partnership he made with Laxman against us quite a while back .. I honestly think you will improve next game

Hopefully Ponting can get some more runs aswell .. :D

Inevitable really - the post-game analysis "Poor pitches to prepare on...lack of a settled opening pair", and rightly so.

But our batsman are better than that and need to show up. Especially since the bowling's been credible. Fielding's still a joke mind, but at least we're catching in the slips.

I'm still looking forward to the next game and hope we give a better account of ourselves.

Sydney 2nd Jan

I don't think Australia will make any changes

The Aussie press is even complaining that the lack of competition is making things boring and shit.

The Aussie press is worse than the English press imvho.Ok maybe not...but they come up with some absolutely condescending bile at times. We know we're not at the level the Aussies are at...I'm pretty sure there's no team from the past 20 years which is.India is possibly the only side which has run the Aussies close in the past decade...lets see how the rest of the series pans out.

Hopefully we give a bit more of a fight.

Moving on to the side...don't know if its been announced yet but I think the inclusion of Sehwag would be detrimental.Continuing with this team for the next test and then seeing how it goes will be the way to go.I'd get Pathan in place of Harbhajan.

But in this test, Aussies did not show anything to make them look like invincibles. I still think they don't have the bowling attack to dominate cricketing world like last 10 years.

In this test, their batsmen didn't play that well, if we had a another decent bowler to support Kumble and Zaheer, they would have scored even less. Then our batsmen got themselves out rather than the other way around. Still think if our batting stands up a little, we can make some impact on the series.

Khan injured...so that means Pathan will play I guess.

Sehwag not in the 13 man squad.

He's been my favourite since 1996.Always stuck by him whenever people took his case for being too slow in the initial part of his career. But I think he's mulling over retirement now...not much to play for now.

Symonds, Hogg and Lee to the rescue.

Strength in depth my friends. We're amazing.

Like feck...more like the umpires have your back. Some absolute shockers there.

The third umpire getting it wrong??for fecks sake

Umpires were terrible. Dont forget the Ponting wicket which was also a horrible decision.

Did they use the super slow-mo from fine leg for the stumping? The other angles were inconclusive but that one gave it away.

Symonds, Hogg and Lee were excellent though regardless of umpiring decisions. Hoggy in particular was superb.

Ah well, we're losing this by some margin anyway.*

Any bets on India's first innings score?I say 267.

I think it will be a draw.

Bit of rain due later this week and your top order will set up camp for a couple of days.
