Very concerning we're not linked to any defensive midfielders and the guys who you'd like to see us linked to are already getting snapped up before the window has even opened. If you were a half glass full person you'd be hoping the leaks have been addressed and we're doing our business discreetly. Or it could be just business as usual - two centre backs and an aging Lewandowski up top!
Camavinga and Tchouameni as a midfield partnership, fecking hell. Beastly. They'll need an attacking mid around them but I doubt they'll have problems bringing one in eventually.
His partner at AS Monaco Youssouf Fofana is more of a pure DM. I wouldn’t be surprised if a club like Liverpool, PSG or City sign him. United should keep tabs on him

He is barely good enough for Monaco, I would be very surprised if any of these teams get close to him.

He is extremely inconsistent and usually not very solid. The DM position and lack of solidity in midfield has been one of Monaco's main issue.
He is only 22,23 but all signs are there for him to be a top DM.
That's not the point, you linked him to clubs that are way above his current level. But nothing points to him becoming a top DM, he hasn't really improved since he joined Monaco and he is currently nothing special, if he becomes a top DM it will be a nice surprise more than anything.

Anyone know what Cheick Doucoure is like? He's a defensive midfielder and his profile looks very promising on fbref but is he a guy that sits in front of the back four or more of a Fred-style ball magnet? Scrambling for lads that might be available at this point.

Tchouaméni is a box to box, there is no reason that would prevent anyone to play with him. In theory all combinations should work.
We will be like why did we sign rice for near £100m and Tchouameni went for like less. There need to be a poll on who fans on here would prefer. Rice or Tchouameni. I believe if valued at the same price, it would be harder to decided. beit, I barely watched tchoumani played, I believe rice might be the better option.

We were linked early doors and being the most impressive and coveted midfielder this season understandably he had better offers. Sadly that’s just the situation we are in right now.
It sounded like Tchouameni always wanted Madrid but there was talk that they were asking him to stay in Monaco another season as they were pursuing Mbappe. That enabled Liverpool to move ahead in the race, and I think he would have gone there if it wasn’t for PSG losing the plot. Madrid then went to their plan B which was obviously to bring forward the Tchouameni plan and probably target Mbappe again in 2025.
Yes, we are a huge club, but so are Madrid and Liverpool. The difference being they are both at the top of their games right now battling out for domestic titles and Champions Leagues.
Whereas we are coming off a season of decline, scraping into the Europa, with a well documented deep culture problem in the dressing room, with a new + lesser known quantity manager at the helm, not to mention we our disturbing recent track of stagnating or regressing talent.

I think Rice is the finished product whereas Tchouameni has more room to grow. If he can develop in his destination club he can be a pretty special player IMO.
There is a year between them both still have lot of development left no way Rice is a finished product at 23 .

Smart signings by Real - Camavinga and Tchouameni will rule the national team and the club midfield.

There's going to be numerous players in the next year or two who will compete against any midfield. We just have to try and sign one or two and develop the high calibre of youth talent we already have at the club. And then that will create the conditions for us to compete with all.
They'd be set for the next decade.

Don't think that's true both relatively unproven. Camavinga has only come into form in the latter end of the season. It's a considerable drop in quality from Kroos, Modric and Casemiro. I don't think Tchouameni, Camavinga and Valverde is creative either. For me that midfield lacks balance.
