The athletics World Championships 2009 from Berlin starts tomorrow morning. I really can't wait to see Usain Bolt in the 100m, final is on sunday evening.

Bolt just jogged into the semi final of the 100m. Asafa looked good after a shocking first round and Gay ran fast as well, not sure whether Gay can be a threat as he has a groin problem.

Britains Jessica Ennis leads by a big margin going into the second day in the heptathlon, looking very good for a gold medal after the disappointment of missing the Olympics through injury.
Also, it's bitterly disappointing to see Simeon Williamson not even make the Semifinals in the 100m, it looked like he could step up to the next level after his impressive run at the British championships but he hasn't pushed on when it counts most at world level.

Ennis is third in the all-time first-day record list behind Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Carolina Kluft, wow.

Is Asafa fit? He's been dogged by ankle problems all season and generally been running horribly. Looked good in the quarters though.

It's a fantastic performance so far, she could emerge from these championships as a big star and has been tipped to be the 'face' of the London 2012 Olympic Games for Great Britain.

The only real concern tomorrow is the Javelin, she has a good long jump and is more suited to the 800m than her rivals.

I can't believe how high she can jump given that she's relatively small compared to the other competitors. She has great spring and decent power seeing the shot putt. Extremely impressive all round. Hopefully she can stay relatively injury free in the coming years as she is an exceptional athlete.

Britains David Greene has made the 400m hurdles final with a PB and looks as if he is going to go close for a medal. Also great to see Felix Sanchez make the final. Evora vs Idowu in the triple jump final coming up on Tuesday will be good. Also, the mens 100m final will be at around 8.30pm, if he starts well it's very likely Bolt will smash his own world record.

Bolt's 9.89 in the semi-final was unbelievably easy. He should run 9.6x if he runs gun-to-tape in the final. Very harsh to disqualify Edgar for what was really a clean start.

He can go faster, the freakishly fast fecker.

New world Record?

More like New Universe Record.

Mindblowing stuff.

Great effort from Tyson Gay as well finishing in 9.71 and Powell got the bronze.

So much for project Bolt from Dwayne Chambers but he got a good time of 10.00secs

The man takes the piss. He's a living legend. 9.58 seconds and he slowed before the end. Simply staggering!

One day I expect Bolt to stop before the finish line, twitter something and then continue.

"almost there lol!"

Video please.

Guy is a legend. Superb athlete, wonder how fast he can get.

fecking amazing

If he ran and gave it everything and didn't slow down towards the end he could have 9.45 I reckon

Thanks, great video, he is the fastest human being of all time by some distance

The 200m should be very interesting, hope Gay makes the final and we get another special race, i'd like to think that Bolt's own WR of 19.30 is breakable and he lowers is again.

Wow, the guy is special and its almost a privelage to watch him run.
