Ashley Young | now of Everton

He's silly. He defo had his shirt tugged, by two players. His dive on the Maguire one looked so unnatural. Should have turned his body when de ligt grabbed him

Classic Young! So theatrical with the dives it’s hilarious. There was very minimal contact on his waist yet he’s launching himself up in the air and kicking his leg out hoping to clip the back of Maguires leg with his foot on the way down, so obvious.

In 2011/12 when everyone said we signed a diver, 20 year old me would be ready to argue it with anyone.

33 year old me accepts they were all right about him.

It’s the fact he’s an absolute geriatric who plays as a full back and nearly stole it in behind two massive centre backs in the dying minutes of the game. If the penalty was given I wouldn’t have been angry with him or the decision.

Against another former club

Some players have are known for certain moves like Ronaldo with the chop, Robben cutting inside, Hughes and volleys. That splayed leg dive is Young's trademark. 15 years he's been at it. I honestly think the ref took that into consideration when making the decision.

Don't think shirt pulling should be given a pen unless it is excessive. It was a dive, was looking for contact.

Absolute textbook Ashley Young.

We benefited from it a few times when he was with us, the crafty little fecker.

He absolutely did.

Nothing about any of the contact actually made with Young would have caused him to go down like he did.

That's only part of why i lost respect. Coming on hacking our players and time wasting too. Behaved like a prick as soon as he came on
Feels like he’s got a yellow card against us at Goodison on a consistent basis and always does his best at taking Garnacho out of it

Ironically if he had stayed on his feet and just wafted his arms it was a certain penalty. But that eccentrically false dive he’s always had looks as authentic as ever at nearly 40 years old.

It's a penalty. He gets pulled back by 2-3 players. As someone has previously said if it was the other way around you'd be screaming for it. No harm in admitting to getting away with one.

It’s subjective. In no way is it a stonewall pen.

It was a clear dive. Yes there was pulling, but no more than happens in most games.

However, I’m surprised it was overturned, especially given recent directives to stop intervening in most cases.

Time for Ferguson to have another chat with him?

Huge diver.

He cares, works hard, and would be better than current Dalot. Good on him for still being around this long.
