Ashley Cole at Utd?

How is that ? After the world cup, Evra has been one of the most hated player in french football history. There is rarely talks about him in a positive manner, I don't think he would wanna go back and play there.
I can see him live abroad and definitely not in France.

So he's never going to go back to France? PSG have been linked and they might pay him more than he'll get elsewhere, so I could see it happening. Regardless, I can't see that he has years left at OT given his age.

I can see either Baines or Cole coming in.

Obviously 'never say never' but I can't picture Evra play for a club in France and take abuse in every other match. He said it numerous times that his goal is to retire at Man United, to become a club legend

Head says yes

Even with high wages, he comes for free (assuming he's out of contract, CMIIW). at the end of the day, we'd probably paying the same amount of money for his 2-3 years service dollar wise.

150k / week equals to 7.5M roughly, if we bought a player with 50k/week but having to buy him for 10M it'll be more costly. (just keeping it simple without the agent fee etc, but you'll get the point)

He is still quality, and the only thing that held us back is that we value our youth, but perfomance wise, he is still better than Fabio if we're only gunning for points.

Heart says no though

I couldn't even support Ashley Cole in a united shirt, the thought of it just disgusts me.

Quality player though

Playing at a lower level than Evra is. Why would anyone want to swap?

Nah. Evra is class.has been flying this season with assists, goals, tracking back. Fabio is coming back from qpr. Buttner is developing. See no use for Cole.

I still don't think Evra has been class, I think this seasons goal return is masking over his issues for a lot of people.

What would be the point in replacing Evra with Cole?

Higher wages and just about on par, if not worse.

Lampard? Cole? Is this 2005.

Next you're going to tell me that that show pony Portuguese kid will be world class.

Rafael and Fabio as fullbacks.

We are sorted for the next 10 years if Real and barca don't come sniffing.

Nah, he's not even that good anymore. Prefer Evra to him

Now that's just idiotic.

Cole is everything people have been calling him in this thread but he's still probably the best left back in world, at least defensively. He was phenomenal in the UCL for Chelsea last year.

I'm sure he'd love to stay - and as long as he's playing well, he will. Fergie isn't one for sentiment though. If he feels he can improve he will, and he might want to move Evra on.

Rafael worries me - drops regular clangers defensively. People say he's young, but he's made loads of appearances so needs to learn.

Fabio worries me more, can't even get in at QPR regularly.

Oh but he is when the players are really close to him (Scholes and Giggs in the current squad, Gary Neville before).

It's pretty incredible that you managed to get so many things wrong in such a short post. Trying to set some sort of record?

He's started four of their last five league games and he got praised for his last match by QPR fans and Harry Redknapp himself so I'm sure he isn't going to lose his place any time soon.

Oh, it's 2010 again apparently.

Others have noted that you can't have been watching QPR recently. Have you also not been catching United matches. Rafael's been our best player this season after Van Persie, and our most consistent outright.

2nd best is a bit of an exaggeration. Carrick is clearly up with RVP. But he has been one of our best players though. Going forward he is really important and defensively he has improved his game dramatically.

If your average United fan named their top 5 hate list, Cole would probably be 3rd or 4th in it, behind Suarez, Terry for certain.

To see him come in would be uncomfortable, and quite bizarre. Same age as Evra, same high wage if not higher, and would be a marked change from Fergie as he's barely rested Evra for years, and in effect would be bringing in direct competition for the first time.

And no Buttner isn't even close to that.

Wouldn't call it a hate list but I really dislike the man. Good footballer but declining. Wouldn't want to pay over 150k wages for a player that's not better than our vice captain at this moment. No way. He also brings trouble with him. He's not got a good reputation for being a nice man. Can only see this transfer do more harm than good. Morale is too important for this.

Scholes and Giggs have been at the club since they were kids and part of his golden generation, there's a bit of a difference. They're also still doing well in an area where the club is short on quality.

Plenty of good players have been shown the door over the years when better or younger replacements gave come along.

Are you sure you're watching the same QPR we all are at the moment ?

Evidently he's been playing then. I've only seen highlights.

Maintain what I think re Rafael, great going forward, exciting to watch this season, in a team that's conceding far too many goals. Needs to find the balance.
