Woakes has tightened up since being hit around earlier.
Can someone send Kerrigan home!
Painful to watch.
Woakes has looked impressive for Warwickshire, but it seems he isn't good enough for International cricket. Doubt he'll be chosen again in the near future.
He's a very good bowler on seaming wickets. I think he would've done fine, had they picked him at Trent Bridge, the Riverside or even Lords, where he could've used the slope effectively. I can only assume their thinking was that the spinners would be doing most of the work in this match, so they wanted a third seamer who bats. That wouldn't be such a bad plan if they hadn't then decided to pick a spinner who's never played international cricket before.Has anyone seen him bowl before?
Surely he can't bowl like he did today for his county as he's got himself loads of wickets.
What he served up today was genuine sunday pub cricket.
oooops
They will be landing strips with absolutely nothing in them. Perfect batting strips for him to get on the front stool and slay the ball like he did last night. Good on him - if he can dominate like that and steady the team in a counter attacking way then go 3 and do it.Horrible result for Australia. Watson at 3 for the return series..
I'm livid at the selectors for throwing him in, like this. I've been watching him play for Lancashire, for years, and he has it in him to be a test bowler, I feel. You should not pick a young spinner, with no international matches under his belt, in an Ashes match, even if it is a dead rubber. It's taking a huge risk and it could set him back, a long way, in terms of confidence.Kerrigan Wow. Pub to Test cricket riches story...

I think he's got more potential to be a test spinner than any Australian, currently going, and anyone England have, excluding Swann. I haven't been as annoyed about a selection, before, as I am by this. It's a mistake, on the selectors part, that he hasn't played before. It could be a much bigger one, to pick him now.Did he really impress? Because from that ambling in and tossing up complete lollies... There HAS to be something there because on that showing.. Yeesh.
I thought we had some shit spinners in our country.. .
, huge claim. But then again I've only seen this 0/50odd off 6 overs. Makes him look a Steve Smith tier spinner on that showing. So I can't really make that kind of judgement. I even said he looked nervous as hell in his first over.I think he's got more potential to be a test spinner than any Australian, currently going, and anyone England have, excluding Swann. I don't know much about O'Keefe. I've heard good things. His first class stats suggest that NSW haven't been picking him as much as they should., huge claim. Steven O'keefe really should have gotten call up to the NT in 2010 and onward during that horrible horrible Beer/Doherty experiment. He has been pretty solid domestically since then and I think he was the best spinner last season. (Not 100% sure tbh but he took a swag at a good ER.) I think he even took 5 against England in a tour match around then as well? Again a victim of the red tape issue.
He was the captain and he stood down for........................................... Whats his name. Might have to check who it is. Thornley?.. Nah.. Um Mail?... Um.. /googles... Just seen this bit. Played for Worcestershire, for a bit, so I saw some of him. He really was just decent pace with nothing else in his locker! My main memory of his stint was him clean bowling a guy, the first ball of the day, with a cracking yorker, and then looking completely useless as the opposition went at over a run a ball, before declaring.edit: God our pace attack was shocking back then as well! Dougy fecking Bollinger. Local Seven Hills lad the club I played for as a junior. I remember facing him in the nets at 15 thinking 'holy shit this guy is ridiculously fast..' still can't believe he played for Australia.
Clogger. Plain and simple. Left arm with the odd natural shape into the right hander . That is literally stonewall it.Just seen this bit. Played for Worcestershire, for a bit, so I saw some of him.
