Arsenal - 2024/25

That was a seriously impressive performance from Arsenal. Where's that team been hiding all season?

I don't think I've ever seen two free kicks as good as that in the same game. The bend on the first one was Roberto Carloseque.

Not with that attitude :D

Maybe no one will catch Real anytime soon, but how about the rest of Europe going, alright guys, you need to sit this out for the next 2 centuries?
I could live with that, but just not Arsenal winning it instead

Hope this is the highlight of their season and they get knocked out by Inter or lose the final in heart-breaking fashion.

Can't believe there are English (Utd) fans who prefer Arsenal winning the CL over Real. It doesn't matter whether Real have 15 21 or 30 CLs by now, but no one in their right mind should want Arsenal to win their first one ever. The longer they remain on zero the better.
I'm English and would rather Arsenal win it over Real. As long as they don't have more or the same as us.

The longer they don't get their first, the more unlikely it becomes that you'll ever witness them at the same amount as you.

Are we not going to talk about Timber shutting down one of the most dangerous winger in the world in Vini Jr? Everytime I watch Arsenal play, that guy absolutely shuts down the opposition winger. What a beast of a player (one we should have signed).

Yeah Timber has always been legit. Top player. I don't think there's a single RB in the world a team could offer Arsenal to get them to swap Timber.

Yeah, well, maybe we should start trying to win another one instead of crying about other teams reaching us. I just can't stand Madrid or Barcelona. I feel like they are cheater clubs.

Yeah that's perfectly fine. Feck Real Madrid (I thank them for beating Liverpool and City the last few years but feck em). I just can't live with Arsenal winning the CL.

Also shoutout to Kiwior. So much noise surrounding him, in a big, big moment for his club, and the best thing you can say about him is that I completely forgot he was playing. Very solid night.

I don't know, White's pretty good. :)

White's good, but Arsenal would pack his bags and drive him to the airport immediately if they were forced to choose between the two ;)

I honestly don't think the choice would be that easy. In my my opinion the best football we've played under Arteta was last season when White, Odegaard, and Saka were combining down the right hand side. As good as Timber is, I think White's absence has definitely had an impact on our football offensively

I'd choose Timber in big games against elite wingers but I think White is better over the course of a league season when you need to consistently pick up points against lower quality opposition

Really strange for a Liverpool fam to have this angst against Arsenal. I've never come across someone like this from your club before. You browse Liverpool forums and it's either complimentary at best or indifference at worst.

Arsenal fans will know better but feels like their best performance at Emirates. There was that 2-1 win vs Barca in 2011, 3-0 against us in 2015, 3-0 vs Chelsea 2016, 5-1 vs City few months ago... Surely there are few more but those + last night are no doubt amongst the best.

With context, definitely the biggest.

2010 was against like Toto beating Mecha-Godzilla, so a better achievement, but didn't matter over the two legs.

I know too many Arsenal fans personally who think that if we win the league it’s only because Arsenal had too many injuries. I’d hate to see them win something especially this season. They were much more sensible under Wenger than at the moment, but of course back then we were both shite so had something in common to complain about

Know literally 1 City fan personally so don’t really care if they win another league or some other prizes.

You need more sensible friends, it would appear :)

I can't believe people want Arse club to win the CL. Their fans are probably one of the most deluded and obnoxious bunch. For a team that has now gone decades having not won any major trophy, their fan base think they are one of the elites in the world.

Madrid, on the other hand, it doesn't really matter if they win this year or not, you know they will win at least a couple of CLs in the next five with the team they have and with the way they get to recruit players. I know people don't like that but the team they have been in the last decade or so and the history they have, I don't blame the players wanting to play for madrid at least once in their life time.

Tbf I would agree with this. The White, Odegaard, Saka connection down the right was borderline telepathic (slightly hyperbole but you get my meaning). I just think defensively Timber is such a notch above White, who is pretty damn good himself, but I guess it highlights just how highly I rate Timber more than any particular feelings I have on White.

Don't see any deluded Arsenal supporters on the Cafe myself. We are not even saying that we are through this round yet....looking good, but definitely not through.

I’m pulling for Arsenal. Just like I was pulling for Villa. I would root for most PL clubs bar Manchester ones and any club that’s state owned. I’m still not over Ramos taking out Salah so feck Madrid and I have nothing against Arsenal.

Oh no, not the ones here. Sorry, I meant most of the people I know and friends. The caf gooners seem pretty reasonable to me.

Not on here no, but you should check some Twitter accounts (or not, if you want to remain sane). The whole "there's levels to this stuff" thing when talking about Saka, Rice, Odegaard, Saliba or others is cringe and delusional. But I guess all clubs have these kind of (online) nutcases in their fanbase.

An apt example:

Don't think I have to point out how the latter worked out, but it's not even that long ago that you got to 55 points :p

I for one hope Madrid absolutely pump them and we see a meltdown online.

Can't believe some of what I'm reading.

Is it not maybe a bit of the empty kettles making the most noise type thing? There are millions of Arsenal fans around the world...as well as Man Utd fans (even more of those). We tend to stick to really what amounts to very few of them saying.

That AFTV is cringe for me....I don't really watch those types of things. Even AM is weird for me, but there are probably some decent posters on there that are drowned out by a few ridiculous ones.

It's Twitter. Amongst Twitter fans many are weirdos and kids/teenagers trying to gain attention with those kind of tweets. Or obsessing with players (United fans did with Pogba, Martial).

With Arsenal fans, I'm sure AFTV has had influence in other fans' perception of them. There are fan channels of other clubs as well but none is close to AFTV in terms of popularity, subscribers etc.

I don't know why AFTV is so popular. I looked at it maybe twice and said to myself that this is retarded and moved on. Maybe people are watching it for its cringe value.
Blocked that word across all media for the last ten years. Bottom feeding filth, every one of them.

Took day and night off to enjoy that one.

We haven't had a lot to sing about our mob. Doing Madrid like that was nice.

Funnily enough, 3 still feels uneasy by the heart.

Brain says they are done and cooked.

I feel slightly more at ease that is the Arteta version of Arsenal than Wenger's in this case to keep this 3 goal lead. It would be very much us to make things very nervy.

I would be surprised if Madrid eliminate you. I think it will be like our games against Barcelona MSN in 2017 where we won 3-0 at home and held a calm 0-0 on their ground.
I rate your defense and your problem often seem to come when you have to score and open low block teams. Also in the last couple of years you are very good in the big games, so I expect you to come through.
Of course with Madrid and Champions League it's never done. They can always turn it around, but I don't think this time it will happen.

It's the fear of the shame we'd get if we bottle it. We've already beaten PSG in the CL this season.

If Arsenal can show some steel now then who knows.

Fun fact: Arsenal are now favourites to win the CL with Aussie bookies (Not sure about other countries).

PSG we could do well against....could. we were fine in our earlier game this season. I prefer that than an Inter Milan. Half the teams in the PL just put 11 players behind the ball and we show very little ability/creativity in breaking that down.

We will obviously miss Gabriel for this tie, but Kiwi generally did ok in the first leg. Very different game now though this time around. We could use another monster game by our fullbacks.

Agreed on both accounts.

Although the level is higher in CL, the style of play actually suits us better than most PL opposition.

And PSG’s wing play looked pretty deadly against Villa. If we make it past Real, we’re gonna need to replicate the defensive prowess we showed against them, particularly out wide, to have any hope of progressing.

I think the only team in the last couple of seasons to score more than 2 goals against an Arsenal team that had Saliba in it.......

Luton Town! :o
