Arne Slot | Liverpool manager (Posture Watch)

The trick is getting one who hasn't worked at Ajax. As Ajax will indoctrinate you with the fact that the only way to play football is their way.
Yet he played at times at Feyenoord more Ajax style than the Ajax themselves.. what is impressive so far at Liverpool is his ability to adapt because he is basically playing the Klopp football with added balance and defensive organisation now..

18 wins out 20. He is a big improvement on Klopp unfortunately.

That's impossible to say. His true ability can only be determined once a significant portion of Klopps squad has been rebuilt. He inherited such a fit, hard working, and well drilled team that it would've been harder to ruin it than continue winning most games.

What he did with Gakpo and Gravenberch alone is very impressive though. They look like different players.

His only fault so far has been failed to realise how good Gomez is.

After tonight, that might change.

He's clearly done more than just keep things the same. For one, they don't look so defensively suspect as they have done in recent campaigns.
He's managed to get VVD looking back to his absolute best too.

Konate has looked pretty good though?

No idea how good Gomez is, mind you.
Gomez and Van Dijk have an impressive points per game playing at CB together. Better than Konate with VVD.

I think a lot of that is from 19/20 when Gomez was playing CB a lot.

He’s annoyingly likeable, I wish he was more of a lunatic like Klopp so I could justifiably hate him.

The biggest compliment you can pay to Slot is that he’s allowing rival fans to make daft snidey comments about Klopp.

Gomez at his best is top notch. There were times at his peak he was out shining Van Dijk.

Looked back to his best last season after yet another struggle to come back from injury, playing all across the back four and even midfield.

I think his reputation has suffered from his injuries and recovery periods, combined with the fact that Matip and then Konate took over and were even better, makes his performances a bit glossed over.

Konate being out is unfortunate as he's looked world class, but the silver lining is that it might open Slot's eyes to just how good he is. He's played Quansah and Tsimikas ahead of him so far. It's criminal.

Gomez is a good player with a couple of superior trait, namely top speed and decent long ball/crosses.
Even his speed has regressed after the series of injuries he's had.
He's too meek and his backpost awareness is abysmal to be a dominant EPL's CB.
He's still has redeeming factor due to his versatility.
Having multiple setbacks in his career seems to force him to use his head more and adapt to situations, good on him.

Not as good as Konate!

Konate is a fantastic central defender.

Gomez is a great all round defender, but Konate is far ahead, one of the best in the PL.

If he comes in and wins the league in his first season, it will affect Klopp’s legacy.

People will wonder if he threw away trophies with his more erratic approach.

I think it’s a natural comparison that will crop up and it’s probably a valid question when you watch how Liverpool played in certain finals and big games. They were too emotional at times.

I think Klopp's two only real failing is the odd off seasons and him mis judging how much his older midfielders had left in the tank.

It might force a revision of the past two seasons, but the best he got from his players was unbelievable.

In terms of pressure and commitment, definitely. He is a great coach.

But there were a number of important games that Liverpool flew out of the blocks and played too emotionally and lost.

This, worryingly, feels more measured and controlled.

The Liverpool squad probably isn’t getting assembled without Klopp. Players would’ve wanted to go there to play for him.

And the bolded part is just silly. Finishing second with 96 and 92 points is unprecedented. Clearly he had an issue with beating Madrid in finals but the first one had Salah go off with a major injury and the second needed Courtois to put on a masterclass.

Slot didn’t inherit Rogers’ 2015 team that lacked identity and had completely lost its way. Klopp’s legacy will always be heralded.

Furthermore, he left - it would seem - at the right time. Giving his successor the tools to build on his legacy and body of work. Very different to other top managers who left clubs in a mess.

That’s legacy.

Slot is far more balanced I feel. Klopp and Arteta are kinda similar Pep too in that they get super worked up and team play in their image. Slot is far cooler and calm head and so far his team are exactly the same. Patient and not trying to overly force things like they did under Jurgen. I feel they're a different animal. I'm not gonna say he's a better manager but right now he looks levels above the rest of the leagues top dogs. The only one not feeling the pressure and the only one no overreacting.

He's got them performing to where they should be with the squad they have built. They're at the height of their powers and really should be winning it all with Salah and van Dijk back in great form. I hope they don't but it looks like they're clicking as a team when all their rivals are struggling. Would be one hell of a collapse, perhaps collapse of the century if they throw it all away...which they definitely won't. They won't.

compared to who?

Hope he gets distracted going for that 4th PDC title this Christmas.

I fear this guy could be their Bob Paisley to Klopp's Shankly. He is impressively flexible tactically. Instructed Robertson to do a man-to-man job on Rico Lewis as soon as he noticed Pep's half-time changes, even though that goes against his usual approach.

compared to who?
Ferguson left a spent set of footballers. Incredible manager - unprecedented tenure - but the club decayed the second he left. He handed over a team over the hill and a club riddled with dysfunction.

He also handpicked his successor.

No, no, it’s fair too early for that, but I agree with you. I think calmness and control is so important in top level football.
