Arne Slot | Liverpool manager (Posture Watch)

I don't think this is a sentiment shared by Liverpool fans, even if it seems like they got this appointment spot on.
They’ve got lucky as it’s still Klopps team working to his standards. And they’ve got a settled team and Salah to bail them out if they’re struggling, with few injuries.

When their aging team leaves they’ll have to build a new team.

Depends which type of Liverpool fan you’re referring to.

Heavily online fans obsess over transfers and spent the entirety of Klopp’s reign wanting FSG to be more like Chelsea. Every August they would predict catastrophe and doom.

As with all these things, the sane fan may like more activity in the market but FSG have been broadly good for Liverpool. Off the pitch they have built a very strong football infrastructure, two new stands, a new training ground and exponential growth in club value. They’ve also appointed Klopp and now Slot.

Nobody is perfect, but short of being a sports washing enterprise, there aren’t many better ownership groups in England - if any.

We're lucky to have the team we have now?

When will this jammy streak end?!?

We get it, you're the greatest team ever as always. Do you need to spend your time on a Man United forum reminding everyone?

Fair enough to the Liverpool fans here. They’re right and should be gloating.

I think in two years they’re absolutely fecked. Thought it would have happened by now though

Exactly and they were the once who forced Salah for Klopp to manage.

People writing them off is laughable. One defeat for Liverpool and it changes everything.

Everyone acting Liverpool have won it already. It's only the first week of November. Comedy gold!
Pretty sure we'll finish top if we only concede one defeat.

You can understand why the supporters are so happy right now. 5 points clear at the top of the league against an increasingly stuttering City, top of the Champions League, 14 wins from 16 games or whatever it is now is impressive whatever way you look at it.

I have said a few times I think there will be tougher tests to come, but they've basically answered every question asked of them so far, so can't do anything but credit them for that.

They have Southampton away next game, City have Spurs at home. They have a fantastic chance of putting themselves at least 8 points clear of City when they play them at home the following game week. They have a small run of games, City (H), Newcastle (A), Everton (A), that any chasing pack will be hoping they drop points in. Come out of that unscathed and they would be massive favourites.

I’ve been on here for about 10 years longer than you. I was posting when Utd were winning big trophies. Do I leave because some are too sensitive that Liverpool aren’t looking up the table at their big red rivals?

Dealing with city getting pushed again. What about the years where you was not even in top four during that time period, was that city’s fault too. Didn’t you only finish second to them once?
Dealing with city
They finished second to them twice and knocked them out of the champions league aswell to be fair. They had that massive injury crisis season but still came third, and the only season they spent outside the top 4 recently was the season after they nearly won everything, and were seemingly exhausted after playing so many games.

They won the prem and ucl, despite going up against a billionaire oil club, pep and the cheating(something i highly doubt even the great Sir Alex could have achieved).Only the most successful madrid team stopped klopp from winning 3 european cups in a five year period.

We hate them but we should all hate cheats far more, and seeing as nobody on here will admit it,i will admit that klopp deserved 3 prem titles, not just 1,because in 2019 and 2022 only a cheating club finished one point ahead of them.Out of all of the teams that didnot cheat, liverpool came top three times in peps man city era.

Man city only 'won' the treble and prem 4 times in a row through cheating.

1 league title in 8 years Klopp is old news. The discussion was about Slot. Do keep up.
I know we hate them, but let us not pretend that man city did not cheat klopp of 2 prem titles, while ignoring him winning the ucl and how bad their side was when he took over.Being bitter is not a good trait to show, infact it just shows jealousy.

Thanks, now I feel so bad for what I said about Klopp. Must big him up more from here on.

I know we've talked about bald frauds as a joke. But I do believe he is an actual Pep Guardiola is my idol. Results have been flattering him and he's not as good as what the league table suggests. It's not a joke this time.

I don’t even know what this means. Looks like Tarzan typed it.

Klopp left a world class team behind for him sure, but I'm impressed with how solid he's made them defensively. They leaked goals under Klopp at times.

Can we put some sort of macro in so the next time 3 Liverpool supporters post in a row, one of them gets banned?

I think this mainly stems from the shift in how their full back operates.
Instead of operating with 1 DM with another CM dedicated to cover Trent, Slot opts for playing double pivot while curtailing Trent forward forays.
It's kinda strange seeing Szoboszlai leads the press at times but he works like a dog, and the double pivot behind him can slow down opponent's attack significantly.
It massively helps that Slot's backroom staff is better at keeping their squad fit so their best CB pairing in Konate-VVD can play more.
Trent's number has significantly dropped but on balance, it's worth more to gain defensive solidity.
Their attacking line up don't feel too pressurised knowing that 1 or 2 goals can get them a win.
As the old saying goes, good attack wins game, good defense wins trophies.

The inevitable fall from grace is going to be beautiful. Watching Liverpool currently is not dissimilar to England in every tournament or Sancho at the start of the season.

I wish Slot had brought a load of shite over with him from Feyenoord and spent the season trying to integrate them into the team.
We've come to expect a certain standard from Dutch bald frauds, so it is disappointing he is not following the template.

…or the optimism that comes with each new United managerial appointment.

Just seen an interesting Athletic article where they point out that 5 of the 11 managers to win the PL have done it in their first full season.

Belgian PL podcast mentioned yesterday that, of the 10 instances before this season when a team had a 5-point cushion after 11 games, all 10 of them went on to win the league.

Comes with the asterisk that in those instances the best team was probably leading the way though while that's still (or at least perceived as) City for the moment, but still. With how vulnerable City and Arsenal have looked the last few weeks and Chelsea's inconsistency, we have an amazing (and for me, unexpected) opportunity in front of us to capitalize on. City has Spurs as well after the international break while Liverpool has Soton away.

Chelsea should just buy Kelleher and top-4 is quite easy for them.
Sanchez is abysmal for top club having any ambitions.
