Arne Slot | Liverpool manager (Posture Watch)

Time will tell

At this moment in time, with regards too the Squad Slot has, he is enjoying the fruits of Klopps labour in assembling this team, Slot is just merely doing a great job at making it all continue to work, if not making the operation of the team even better this far, but make no mistake this is Klopps team still obviously.

But as good as Klopp? He’ll have too win many things and even assemble his own elite football squad for that, time will only tell
1 premier league and 1 champions league would put him on even footing with the might of Klopp's english football resume.

Exactly. The over the top praise for him just has me baffled. The media and pundits are acting like he has come in and transformed a shambles into a top team. As I have said, I think that 2 years or so will tell us how good he is in the role. That is enough time for Liverpools star players to either wane or move on and for him to have to do some serious and tricky work.

So yes, he has done a good job so far but his job has been easy so far.

I’m curious, what more could he possibly do to be doing a ‘great job’?

Nothing. Hes doing a good job. The problem is that hes not been in the job long enough or actually had to do anything remotely hard in order to say he is doing anything special. The media and pundits are all fawning over him like he has done something amazing. We can talk about whether he is doing a great job in a few years.

The media are saying he’s won 14 out of 16 games which is very impressive and unprecedented from a Liverpool perspective. That’s not fawning, it’s not projecting anything into the future. What’s the alternative? Offering mealy-mouthed praise and barely acknowledging his brilliant start. That would be odd.

He's about 10 times as entertaining as Klopp for anyone interested in the reasoning that went behind various decisions before and during the game.

Probably the first coach I've seen in a long time who clearly outlines concrete tactics and strategies (both his and the opponents') in his post match interviews.

The other managers just stick to recycling between intensity, passion, process, work hard, not thinking too far ahead, and feck the ref.

You like him better than Klopp then. Fair, we all got our own opinions.

Of course

Say he wins both this season? Job done?

Of course not, as I mentioned, he’s enjoying the fruits of Klopp labour with the squad he has.

If he ticks those trophies off this season for example (not that I think he will, I’m just making a point) but then loses a few star players and has to rebuild, for the coming seasons but all goes too pot when he starts bringing in his own players, then no he won’t be regarded in the same breath as Klopp.

Klopp was able too build a winning formula and keep us competitive for the most part challenging for titles or cups.

All that being said, Slot is doing all the right things and thus far proving to be a decent coach

Klopps 8 yrs
Won the league
Won the CL
Won the FA Cup
Won the League Cup twice
Oh and 4-0/ 5-0/ and 7-0 wins over our big rival
All this while dealing with of the best PL team of all time in City.
Then rebuilds the team to keep it going stronger after leaving. That’s how a great mgr should leave his team.
Looks like we’re in good hands.

Dealing with city getting pushed again. What about the years where you was not even in top four during that time period, was that city’s fault too. Didn’t you only finish second to them once?
Dealing with city

Easy is pushing it a lot..

If he would have done a bad job and VVD and Salah would have been less reliant, Gravenberch wouldnt have rised as a 6, Trent would have shown less commitment and performens worse.. People would have said he was left a squad where the strongholds are on their last feet and running out of contract, without adequate replacements and that he wasnt backed in the summer.. The whole mentality and motivating and managing the team in a way that their performances are so consistent is fully on him and is far from a given..

It's the old "pep could win everything whilst working from home with this barca team" attitude.

Record-breaking start at Anfield, winning 14 of first 16 games

The Dutchman has made a terrific, record-breaking start as Liverpool boss, winning 14 of his first 16 games in charge. The Reds are top of the Premier League, are unbeaten in the Champions League, and have conceded just ten goals while scoring 37 at the other end.

I hate Liverpool, but Slot has had a phenomenal start without spending money and without needing multiple windows to bring in 'his players'. I hope Amorim comes in and does similar so that we can kill the nonsense notions of managers needing 3 years to see the slightest positive effects of their appointment.

Try to come in and keep a good team with a good culture going. Then try to come in and turn a bad team with a weak culture around. It’s not the same task.

You can’t compare their situation to ours. People like to believe that Liverpool were Klopp with a mediocre squad but it was not even remotely true.

I don't think this is reasonable expectation.
Amorim has been shown to be firm believer in his "way" , which is variations of back-3 formation.
United don't have enough players to make this formation work optimally, so some transition period is to be expected.
It's necessary pain they will have to go through to get out of this rut.

Stating 11 Klopps first team when joining:
Mignolet, Moreno… yes Moreno, Sahko, Skyrtel, Clyne, Can, Lucas, Lallana, Coutinho, Origi , Milner
That’s what he started in his first match. So what was that again?

1 league title in 8 years Klopp is old news. The discussion was about Slot. Do keep up.

The poster was claiming that Klopp inherited a good squad. He didn’t obviously. It’s one thing to say Slot did but it’s another to say Klopp was lucky or wasn’t the world class team builder which he was. He built a team that somehow went toe to toe with the machine that is City. Agreed?

Wrong. Read that post again. And again.

Relax, guys. It's still very early in the season. There are still plenty of time left for Liverpool's wheels to come off.

Injury to Salah or other key players, it will be very different. It's a long season and fatigue will eventually comes into play as well.

It's worrying how this run just keeps going, particularly with the wheels coming off at City and Arse.
Slot talks a good game too. Long way to go yet.
"We are really happy that most of our players have stayed fit through this tough run.

"If I look at the games that are ahead, they are tough. It will be a tough season in general. Margins are small, we have a margin but it is small. There are many challenges to come for us."

Liverpool lose all time great Shankly and replace with Paisley, who become ter than Shankly. Maybe hasty, but then after losing best in a generation; Klopp, they replace with maybe an improvement with Slot.

United replace goat Busby with Wilf/O’Farrell (hmmm.. doc) get relegated. Then, replace greatest manager ever with Moyes. Still recovering.

You’ve had a multi post mare here haven’t you

The ever-changing Liverpool narrative game…
May: Liverpool are done once Klopp leaves
July: It’s only pre-season
August: Slotball looks boring
September: Slot’s enjoying a honeymoon
Early October: They haven’t played anyone yet
Late October: The good opposition had injuries
November: ?
November: this just shows Klopp wasn’t even that good.
December?

I am not saying I expect a title run, I mean it would be nice to see him bring about clear positive change in the same way managers like Ange brought a clear and quick positive change to Spurs.

There will obviously be ups and downs, but we shouldn't be scrounging around for good points 3 years into a managers reign or making up constant excuses for why a coach can't get a semblance of cohesion from a team within a season.

The only thing concern me is that it seems that both City and Arsenal wheels are coming off at the same which is extremely rare. I really thought this could be Arsenal's year coming so close the last 2 seasons.

Arsenal look almost certain to win the PL last season until City put in an extraordinary run in. They didn't run out of steam but City was just too good last season.

It's still a long season and fingers crossed Liverpool will run out of steam or a team put in an extraordinary run in to win the PL.
