Are the Glazers preparing for a sale? | Saudis deny the news

No, Saudi Arabia is Sunni. Qatar is the state where Wahabiism is the major religion. Sunni Islam is the religion of the great majority of Muslims.
Let me explain more for you
Sunni Islam is a broad term for many sub groups, there are many forms that go into that main tittle "Sunni islam" and vary in extremism. Hanafi followers, Shafii, Maliki hanbali etc and there is the followers of Muhammed bin abd alwahab "Wahhabism". The population in Saudi mostly hanbali and the difference of followers of this group of sunni islam is mild from in comparison to that of wahabism. In fact researchers say that wahabism, salafi and hanbali are very very close in extremism.

The drama in here is astonishing, football is football and politics are politics. ALL GOVERNMENTS are shady and corrcupt, we support the club, the football team and not it's owner, simple as that.

The game sold its arse long ago. I’m not going to draw a line in the sand after decades of foreigners, with no connection to the club/game are helping themselves to the trough. Granted, each successive owner appears to be worse than the previous but Louis Edwards didn’t buy into the club for the club’s sake. Purely for his own.
Foreign players/fans, owners... they’ll never know what it’s like to be a local, born and bred from generations of support but I’m fecked if I’m gonna let it bother me that another leech/glory hunter has come along. Sooner the yanks feck off the better. Not arsed about the politics side of it whilst corrupt cnuts like Blatter are free to enjoy the fruits of their dirty deeds. When the authorities get their house in order, I might start caring but won’t hold my breath. They’ll no doubt suddenly find some morals and principles soon enough to stop United becoming free to buy whoever they want, though, just as they did with the Sky bid.

Problem is that this is not the case anymore is it? I reckon that you have heard about sport washing by now? Governments being corrupt have nothing to do with this as well, getting sick of the whataboutism in this tread.

I understand people saying they dont care about this, that football and politics are separate. Football has been evolving constantly since the first clubs were founded, any line in the sand you draw is going to be entirely arbitrary. The PLC was not some magical, mystical entity, encapsulating all that is good about football, and nor was the regime before it. So if this is what the next chapter of United's existence will be, it will just be another step in the evolution of the club and the game, much like other transitions of ownership have been.

But to my mind, anyone who sees it that way is in no position to dismiss City (or Chelsea, PSG etc) as being a plastic club, or the trophies they have won as being any less relevant or worthy than ours or Liverpool's. At the end of the day football is 22 people kicking a ball around, and how those people get paid is entirely irrelevant.

I disagree with Islam becoming militant, real Muslims don't regard the likes of Isis as Muslims; more like terrorists trying to justify their evil by trying to misinterpret Islam and then use it to hide behind. Out of the 1.8 billion Muslims Isis does not even make the. .000001%, hence most Muslims are peaceful loving people, a bunch of Isis whackos do not represent them at all. Saudi would like to think their version of Islam is the correct but it is a still a minority view in comparison to other sunni Muslims outside of Saudi.
Yes I'm aware of that. There are certainly militant groups like ISIS and Al quad though which is what I was referring to.

Did he add anything more of interest regarding this?

He pretty much just said the interest is real because Richard Arnold has been in Saudi Arabia and nothing else of any substance, also before he answered the question it was made clear it wasn't Neil's story. He couldn't really say anything other than there actuallly is "genuine interest" either for obvious reasons.

From what I took from it, the whole thing was just one big speculative story and that guy Pilib de Bruin was more than happy to have Custis on his show to repeat the claims since the Glazers wanting to sell up is something that he has been pushing on his show for a while.

Did he add anything more of interest regarding this?
He just said the interest is genuine and Richard Arnold has made numerous trips to Saudi, and it will depend on the Glazers if they want to cash in now.

Andy Mitten has also said he's heard from people in the middle east that something is going on.

In other words, ignorance is bliss?

Bet some of you spoke differently a few years ago about PSG and City owners/club. A few years without success and people start selling their souls to the devil. Desperation is kicking in. The Saudis are the worst of the lot.

I would rather win one title in 20 years and celebrate it accordingly instead of winning 10 in 20 under these cnuts. Liverpool did alright the last few years without a sugar daddy in terms of challenging for trophies, didnt think our fanbase would be that thirtsy.

Still haven't won a trophy of note. You can understand Utd fans being thirsty, they were having caviar and desserts coated wth gold before, now they are having to make do with Mcdonalds.

MBS will probably build an ultramodern stadium with 100k+ seating capacity, clear out the debt, buy world class players in positions necessary and turn us into a dominant force, seeing that he is atleast 20-30 times richer than Mansour, if reports about his estimated wealth are to be believed. None of this top 4 nonsense, and handing out contracts to past it players like young. I don't get why football fans are bringing politics into this. None of Saudi Arabia's issues directly affects any of us. The UK certainly isn't affected.

You don't see any of the UK media (or anyone) coming up with questions like 'Yes, City romped to 100 points last season, but should we question the human rights situation in Abu Dhabi'. The Der Speigel(or was it Bild) leaks did nothing. Everything just moved on. You have literally every damn journalist and our own fans salivating about the style of football that city play. Yeah, we say that they are plastics or whatever, but we all know that sooner or later they are coming for our league title count. Last year's defeat at Old trafford showed the gulf in class between city and us. They were taking the piss out of us in the last few minutes and we couldn't do a damn thing.

We are hoping every year for chelsea, city or fecking spurs( what were they even before 2015) to beat liverpool, when we should be extending the lead over them in the number of league titles . The glazers were lucky that they inherited Sir Alex as the manager who could replace CR7 with Antonio fecking Valencia and still win league titles. We have lost our way as a club where emphasis is placed on dividends and 'branding' more than what goes on the fecking pitch. You have a club like PSG, coming to Old Trafford and humiliating us and have their fans coming to our forum and saying 'Take the L'. PSG, a nothing club before Qatar acquired it. Now none of our players(except Pogba and De gea) would get into their squad. We are so far away from the elite that I find it incomprehensible how other fans don't see it.

To all saying, 'I would stop supporting the club if the Saudi Prince acquires the team', I pose this question: Did you start supporting United in the 70's and 80's? Because Liverpool were the dominant team back then. Most of us(at least the overseas fans) would have started following the club in the 90's and the 2000's, because we were the team to beat, we had keane, scholes, beckham, giggs, ruud, CR and Rooney and we were winning. So, I don't want to hear none of this 'Oh, so you only care about winning' shite. The more important question is why shouldn't we?

This thread really brings out the absolute worst in our fans. 'it doesn't affect me so why should I care' is so fecking callous that I can barely even comprehend it.

United till I die, always have been and always will be. I love this club so much it doesn't matter who is in charge.
I have no interest in the religious/political side of things. I love football and for me that is what counts.
I'm not bothered if I get a response of "So you're happy to have owners who like to behead people?"I'm not a religious person and I don't have much interest in politics either.
I work hard 5 days a week and at the end of it I look forward to a game of football with my kids(last 5 years haven't been to enjoyable though:lol:).My boys are now United fanatics and for them nothing will change if we were to get new owners.

Agree with this 100%. I support the team and want to compete again. The glazers are holding us back. Bring on our new Saudi overlords.

If you started supporting the club "because we were the team to beat" then why not piss off and support City instead?

Go find another bandwagon to jump on.

What an arrogant comment. It doesn’t matter why you start supporting a club, as long as you stay through the bad times as well.

So someone who has chosen to follow the club because it was winning at the time and advocates Saudi owners because winning is all that matters has the best interests of the club to heart do they?

Sheesh.

Each to their own. I don’t necassarily welcome Saudi owners, but to ask someone to «piss off to City» just because he started following a winning club (Which would apply to most fans outside of Greater Manchester, shock horror!) smacks a bit of football elitism.

He probably started supporting as a child when Utd were winning everything. A child would naturally start supporting the most popular club. He is still supporting us now even though we are in a slump and hasn't jumped ship to city. Your argument makes zero sense. Just because you are on your high horse about potential new owners.

So you would be ok with these new owners would you?

So let me get this straight. People are okay for Manchester United to go from the ethos of Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson, to being owned by mega rich Saudis so that we can outspend City and win titles? So for you guys titles is the only thing that matters? You would be happy to let the history of this club be tainted by its ownership by a regime that oppresses women, suppresses human rights and is accused of murdering people, just so you can mouth off to your scouse and city following mates that we have beaten them?

So you would be ok with these new owners would you?
Yes 100%. Welcome them with open arms if they inject huge amounts of money in to the team and infrastructure at the club. Some of us can seperate politics from the club.

In that case I will leave it there then as we will never agree on this one.

It's not just the moral bankruptcy of the Saudi regime. Its also a question of whether buying success, buying dozens of ready made world class players, is actually what we want. People pay a lot of lip service to traditions, youth development and local players. What happens to all that when the Saudis want to buy a £100m player in every position? Would people still enjoy winning like that? Honestly, it sounds hollow to me. I just don't see the point in it.

If by drama you means supporters who take issue with human rights abuses, then yes....."drama".

I think most fans would come around when we are winning trebles and quadruples.

Maybe. I'm not sure, for myself.

I actually think it'd get very boring very quickly for a large number of fans. Like playing a computer game with an invincibility cheat, how much fun is that, really?

The saving factor is that it probably wouldn't go down like that. City would also have infinite money, other clubs would probably get bought by zillionaires. That'd keep it competitive and therefore interesting.

Personally been a Utd fan since 1977 when the club was owned by the not exactly whiter than white Edwards family. the Glazers? Don't get me started...IF the club is bought out by Saudi then I will still be a fan because first and foremost its the team I've always supported and not whoever the owners might be, for what it's worth the Saudis will be a 100 percent improvement on how the current owners run the club thats for certain, zero debt, stadium redevelopment, probable investment in the local community as well as challenging for the title and champions league!

I would like for the saudis to buy Newcastle or Everton, or both  to make the premier league even more tight. God forbid they buy Liverpool :nono::eek:

Don’t fecking care, Saudis or Israelis or Americans, just splash our own money and get rid of the leeches running our club.

I guess you meant 'some of us are opportunistic pricks who don't care about United being the plaything of a genocidal bastard as long as he buys us the new toys'.

Haha agreed, I can't think of many fans who love their owners/CEO's, you just have to swallow it and keep supporting the team regardless. We are not here for the owners, we love watching football and we love United for their history and traditions. I will NEVER stop supporting united even if Trump decided to buy us.

Amen!

Been a supporter since 1974 and supports the club, not the owners. Secondly I’m not a left winger so I don’t judge people by moral doubtful standards.

Agreed.
