Are PSG a failed project?

I think this one has soo much room to grow. It’s the one with a good enough current ability and huge potential for the next few seasons, if they keep the team together who knows what the ceiling is.
If Enrique stays for a few years, yes, this team has a lot of potential to grow. But I don't see Enrique staying for long, PSG under QSI is a toxic environment, and sooner or later he's going to clash with the boss and leave.

Could be. But I think they’ve might have learnt from previous mistakes with this new project. Also it’s possible that if Enrique does leave they’ll probably just follow the model of replacing him with someone that’s suitable to the squad they’ve built.

Enrique extended his contract until 2027 a few weeks ago. Him and Campos seems to have a great realtionship + QSI got unlimited funds. Enrique will have all the young prospects he wants, why would he leave?

Wishful thinking.

Currently losing 2-0 away in the French Cup. Guessing it's not really a priority of theirs but never heard of the club they're playing, Dunkerque, and does appear they have a few regulars in the lineup.

The french cup surely produces more upsets than the FA cup.

It is a big priority tonight. They have basically won the league and they definitely want the historical treble.

Back in the game now: 2-2

For me the fa cup lost its magic a long time ago, although this year has been a nice surprise.

France along with Germany probably have the best cup competitions right now imo.

Us winning the FA Cup last year (Knocking both Liverpool and City out along the way) was as magical as it could get.

Doué is absolutely amazing again.

This guy deserves a thread on his own

Don’t like them, what they stand for and the ownership but blimey you have to appreciate the standard of football.

They’ve got that great balance of modern and old day football.
Pass and press like a well drilled modern side but then have ‘old school’ style players full of flair, trickery and personality that mean it’s not tedious watching them.

Favs for the CL but that Arsenal game will be a big test cos Arsenal are probably the most suitable team to knock them out with the way they are.

Coming out the other end of a complete rebuild after getting rid of that clown Leonardo. Looking great

Most entertaining team in Europe. In a world of robotic systems, it’s refreshing to see a team of young players with attackers who play with skill, flair, and creativity.

In a way they remind me of Barca before Pep with Ronaldinho with some of skills, and United 96-99 with the relentless attacking just coming at you in wave after wave .

Their only flaw, which might cost them, is dominance to goals. They really should have scored the 3rd before the 90th minute. Also vs Liverpool in Paris they should have won that by 2 or 3. Maybe it’s just being a young team, I remember United were like that in the 90s.

This iteration is so much more enjoyable than the Neymar Messi Mbappe one. It looks like a team

Completely mauled us. Nice mix of controlled tempo and quick switches to the flanks for rapid counters. When coached correctly that is still the best way to play football imo.

With how young most of their team is they remind me of Monaco from 16/17 season. That Man. City comeback completely changed their mentality as they were probably going out if they lost that game.

Watching MOTD CL highlights Karsha is one of those players, you know would become a instant fan favourite and get bums off seats if he played for Utd. Shame. Sensational player.

The pro-Qatar crowd on here will be unbearable if they win the CL, especially playing such good football. It's enough to make them want to fail.

PSG played really well. They have as good a chance as anyone besides Barcelona to win this year's UCL, in my opinion.

Would be great to see either win.

Buying Doue for 43 mil seems like borderline theft. I was surprised he went for so low. After years of overspending and trying to buy a CL it looks like they have a better winning formula by actually building a team. Still hate em as they are one of these teams that destroyed football with their approach but the current team on the pitch is quite likable.

No longer being Mbappe FC has done wonders for them.
Now Real Madrid’s curse. Funny thing is Real were doing what PSG are doing after selling Ronaldo. But recently seem to be going back to galaticos signings

The anti superstar rebuild is the template, they play the best football and they look extremely complete.

You fundamentally miss the point of PSG if you even consider it a failed project.

The entire push has been to legitimize authoritarian monarchy oil states and to make sure the leaders don't end up killed / overthrown like Gadaffi. They want to make sure the 'democracy' crowd don't get any ideas with overthrowing these oil states and to quell any revolution from inside. They have 1000% succeeded and the Qatar and Saudi world cups and the complete destabilization of the liberal west means I can't see any scenario in at least 30 years they could get overthrown / destabilized.

Doubt anyone is mad enough to try to overthrow the countries mentioned within especially Saudi. Qatar I imagine the locals have way better/high standards living conditions to even consider it with the state looking after them.

With the West allied with these countries, they don’t need to push for internal conflict like Syria and co. There won’t be a repeat of a revolt like the poorer states.

They've lost to both Arsenal and Villa away recently. If it's just domestically, then is it even that impressive? PSG have literally no competition in Ligue 1, it's so bad that I'd be pretty confident that if you swapped Spurs or United with PSG they'd also win the French league.

It's domestically. And it's not about winning the french league but not loosing an away game. It's not the most impressive record ever because Ligue 1 is obviously easier than most league in the top5 but it at least shows consistency. I mean you had very dominant teams in other leagues in the history of the sport, especially in italy or germany, but none managed to keep a longer streak.

The invincible Arsenal side lost 3-0 at home to Inter Milan in the UCL. They also lost at home to United 1-0 in the league Cup, and to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup. Does this affect the achievement of winning the PL unbeaten ?
