Television Arcane - Netflix (League of Legends show)

Just finished season 1 and thrilled to learn there will be a season 2. This is some of the best TV I've watched in year.

Really enjoyed it. The animation was quality & I found the story to be really interesting. Looking forward to the next season.

To keep the same quality of art, music, writing I expected this long.

Even though this was confirmed to be the final season of 'Arcane' they say they will still work with the studio to tell other stories in the Overall world of Runeterra

First episode felt like a movie almost. And it wasn't even an hour. I was surprised by the pacing it really moved along I thought. I loved the art style in some of the early scenes especially the Caitlyn highlights. She's getting a much beefier focus so far I like.

Only thing I could pick as a small gripe
I wanted to actually see how the council survived. I knew Jayce and Mel would probably live. It looked like she was activating some type of automatic defense system at the very end of last season's cliffhanger as it started glowing on her back. But I wanted to see it. When Jayce himself mentioned he was baffled by how he survived I wanted to have that cleared up.

Ooooooft, visually stunning, holds its own with into the spider verse but I was absolutely gripped. Jinx is an incredible character. Only down side is why have they split the season. Next drop is the 15th of November. Don’t really get the point in that.

That is exactly how the first season went. Split into 3 release dates. Narratively it really fit the first season with the time jump from the first batch to the second. Will see if there was a narrative reason this time or if just following what they did in s1.

I feel like I watched the first season as soon as it came out and don’t recall any split. But then it’s only like a week until the next batch is released so maybe I was just late to the party then.

Yes it was split into 3 originally. Season 1 we got 1-3, then were left with the cliffhanger of 3. Came back with the time jump in 4 a couple weeks later. Act 3 was 7-9 after that. Not long waits though.
Just finished the first 3 now I think they kept up with the art, the music direction, writing for the most part so far.

I was worried after the success of the first season Emmys etc. that they might have a letdown. But I am all in so far. I am really liking the way they are weaving in all the layers of intrigue and manipulation. You know some people are completely shady and manipulative but seeing how they counter each other's manipulation is being done so well, I think.

Also slowly weaving in other nations intrigue and interest here without it just taking over this particular story is done well. Its not like in your face. You can sort of see where follow up shows or spinoffs with some of the other nations would go from here. But it isn't distracting or completely irrelevant to the main characters and that was built in s1.

First season is one of the best things on Netflix, awesome show, excited to get get into this set.

I’m not sure I can be arsed watching S1 again but my memory is shite. Anyone found any good explainers for a crash course before S2?
Short version (4:34 minutes), no talking:

Longer version (11 minutes), guy explaining the plot:

Regarding the spoiler, from watching the first act I think you'll get your wish, just not this round of episodes.

The first act of season 2 is brilliant. I was worried they wouldn't be able to match the first season but it's stunning so far. The visuals, sounds, story beats... blimey.

Yes, brilliant start, I really find it hard to believe that a show this good comes from A League of Legends while genre touchstones such as LOTR and WOT get such shit in comparison.

And not to derail the thread, but it eviscerates most shows in how well it handles things like diversity, strong female characters, all handled with an understated matter of factness that contains none of the eyerollingly cringe preachiness of so many recent shows. An animated show that treats its audience like adults. Reminds me of the The Expanse in that way.

I'm waiting until all episodes are released and I can bingewatch them over a weekend. First season was handsdown one of the alltime best pieces of animation ever made, and if the second season is even remotely close in quality then having to wait for the next episode to release would be torture, and then I'd rather wait and avoid the spoilers.

That’s fair. I enjoy the anticipation of the next batch of episodes so would rather jump right in!

The animation in this show is out of this fecking world.

Shame it’s been so long since season one that I can’t remember shit.

Never played League(played the other Riot game though), but Arcane S1 was really good.

Season 2 has so far had good build up and anticipation in the first three episodes. Looks like it will be exciting. Hope they have a good end in store.
