Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Second this, ended up binging it in one day and had a few belly laughs per episode. Helped that I was on jury duty myself this week so took it as inspiration.
I had to watch it twice because I didn't bother to see what the premise of the show was. It's probably a one and done show but everyone played their parts superbly

Gomorrah is one of my favorite shows. Very surprised at how little it is recommended.

Fantastic series. But only watched Seasons 1 & 2. Then I lost track of it after -- didnt realise there are 5 seasons!!

Thanks for the reminder. I think I will start all over again.

It’s excellent. Peaked at season 3, a bit of a drop in 4 and then 5 was very good.

One of the GOATs but it’s Italian so people don’t talk about it like the Wire etc.

There’s also a movie which I believe you should watch after season 4.

Great. Season 3 eh... I will start from season 1 again.... it will almost be brand new because I think I first watched it like 7-8 years ago.

I did try this and I got a decent way in but I found none of the characters to have much depth. It was just shitty people killing other shitty people.

One of the great things about The Sopranos, The Wire and other shows of a similar ilk was that there was this undercurrent of dark humour. An awareness of why things are happening and how absurd it can be. But with Gomorroah it felt like it was a lot more surface level stuff.

The legend, the mythical l'immortale.
Gennaro grew on me after the first few seasons..did a decent job in Season 4 to carry it without Ciro
Enzo and Patrizia I found interesting as well.
Very good show.

At least first season of Gomorrah was pretty shit. So I would say it is talked about way more than it deserves, not the other way round.

As Solius said, shitty people doing shitty things with silly plot twists. Dozens of better European shows.

Any suggestions?

It's a show that shows the real side of the Camorra gangs in Naples. Realism. It's brutal and serious. It shows a nuanced view of how and why people get involved in gangs and drug trafficking. You know it's based on the book of Roberto Saviano who is protected by the government 24/7 because he released the book about the Camorra? It is a very realistic show, and a breath of fresh air compared to shows where the producers are way too obsessed with character involvement.

"Shitty people doing shitty things with silly plot twists" is an extremely narrow-minded view, but each to their own, I guess.

No worries, mate. I'm almost jealous that you have all that left. I recently started re-watching it and it's just so good!

Can't speak for massi, but personally I didn't see it as a 'bad' show. Just not close to that top tier for me. I just didn't see anything from any of them that showed multiple sides of their personalities. Everyone was just incredibly serious and drab. The Wire had you rooting for drug dealers, murderers, corrupt police, etc... It was complex.

I just found myself not caring for what happened, because nobody gave me a reason to.

As I have gotten older I seem to have increased my ability to re-watch shows again. I must have seen the wire like 4 times since it's come out.
Watch battle of Britain, Italian job (original) etc like once a year!

I agree with the serious part. Maybe that's why I liked it. There was no fecking around or joking like in Sopranos. It was just straight to business, but I believe that's the point too. The Camorra organization don't clown around. Young, poor teenagers start getting affiliated with gangs to make money, only to find out it's almost impossible to leave, because it's the only thing they know, and they need to provide for their family and themselves.

Started watching GoT again with the Mrs, she refused to watch it during the original run. Just finished season 1 and I forgot just how good the show could be.

Hoping a I can stomach the last season a little more than this time around.

Also finish The Lincoln Lawyer season 2, enjoyable but not as good as season 1 in my opinion, found it all quite predictable.

Le bureau
Dark
Babylon Berlin
The Bridge
Borgen
The Killing
Call My Agent

Thanks! Have seen Season 1 - 2 of Le Bureau, and all of Dark. Heard goods things about Babylon Berlin. Will check it out and the rest

I thought Gomorrah was really top tier for the first 4 seasons, brilliant stuff. Really disappointed with the final season though.

I loved it for the first two seasons but for some reason I really struggled to get into Season 3 and then I just gave up on the show.

Its not going to be everyone's bag but i just finished watching Daisy Jones and the 6 on Amazon Prime. Mockumentary style show interviewing a band years after they split. Set in the 60s/70s when they show the story of the band. Influenced by Fleetwood Mac apparently. I enjoyed it.

Billions has started its final season, fantastic show, have maybe watched it 20 times, can’t get enough of it. Later seasons struggled a bit but hoping it ends on a high.

'struggled a bit' is quite the understatement, it cratered without Axe.

That said, would watching the final season be doable without viewing the previous one? As you, I would like to see it end on a high & will invest that time into it if the plot isn't too dependent on knowing what recently happened last season.

No disrespect mate but there's a lot of great things out there you should be watching apart from that average pile of averageness.

I mostly use it as background noise now while completing other tasks. It’s not for everyone but I enjoy it a lot and the first 2/3 seasons are fantastic

when Axe left it lost most of its appeal for me, I was invested and stuck it out. For the new season you would need to maybe even know the back story of the previous season and why Axe is returning as it’ll be confusing as to what is going on. In the first episode of the final season it offers a good recap as to what the state of play is, so this may be enough to give enough of an insight into everything.

Watched the first 3 episodes of Justified. It's good but I was expecting it to be better. Does it improve?

Yep. Season 1 is fun and a good introduction and has a couple of great episodes towards the end of the season, but it's really S2 when it takes a big jump.

The first episode of The Winter King, adaptation of the Warlord Chronicles by Bernard Cornwell (same person who wrote the Saxon Stories/The Last Kingdom) aired on Sunday.

I'm nearly at the end of the first book and its been a great read so far so was pretty excited for this. Having watched the first episode I'm a bit more skeptical..but will give a fair crack.

I know I'm late as always, but just finished Dopesick and really liked it.

I couldn't get through season 1.
