Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

Barbarians season 2 was a bit disappointing but still a decent watch. They really threw historical accuracy out the window I feel in an effort to spice it up even more.

The Peripheral. Only two episodes but so far I really like it.

I enjoyed the first few episodes as well. Can definitely tell the Westworld vibe from Nolan & Joy. I'm hoping it keeps ramping up the quality. Since its based on a Gibson novel, I have faith. Although the trilogy is unfinished so I do have some Thrones-Martin ptsd

Just finished bad sisters on Apple TV. It was excellent

The original is a Belgian series Clan. It was on Walter Presents (All4) about 6 years ago. Walter called it The Out-Laws. From memory, the annoying husband is known as the prick.

Snabba Cash second season didn't disappoint, fully recommend it. The only snag is that the season felt bit too short.

Another Swede series, Tunna Blå Linjen is great as well, second season just started. It's a cop series that mostly focuses in their struggles in personal life. I might have recommended it here already but if you can find it online watch it, it's brilliant.

I’m four episodes into The Leftovers. Enjoying it so far but I’m not sure where they’re going with it yet. I must admit that I was skeptical when I realised that Damon Lindelof was involved in making this.

Stick with it. Season 2 is outstanding.

Great isn't it.

I'm gonna recommend to you all...

The Bear (Disney+) - a really good show about a Chicago beef sandwich shop. Great direction and performances.

Gritty, intense, emotional and funny. It's also actually about chefs/cooking, (as oppose to being solely about relationships and just happens to be set in a restaurant)

And only 30 minute episodes, which is great for anyone who gets bored with longer shows.

Anyone seen the new series of The White Lotus?

Looking for a new Sitcom to watch so randomly put on Abbott Elementary on Disney Plus... Very glad I did, its great.

1. Billions - I had already started. I'm looking forward to see how I can apply the episodes to my own investments, and to gain an insight on how the wealthy spend their money to create time.

2. Without spoilers, how would you say Dopesick is different to The DropOut?

1 - This is absolutely mental. It is a work of pure fiction and it’s not a road map of how to spend money to create time. Everyone in the show is in work mode 18 hours a day.

2. They are nothing like the same. The DropOut is a dramatisation of perhaps the greatest Pharma-tech fraud ever. Dopesick is a factual dramatisation of the American Opiod epidemic, exposing how broken American politics is.

Dopesick is brilliant. Horrifying at the human level, and confronting at the societal level.

Loved episode 3 of The Leftovers. I like Eccleston and I enjoyed the nod to his Mancunian roots when he said 'stop me if you think you've heard this one before'.

That and another single character episode are the standouts of the first season which I thought was a bit hit and miss and incredibly grim. The second and third seasons are just brilliant the whole way through though.

Oh the series is very grim. Too grim for me but I'm sticking with it hoping it improves like you've said. Episode 3 went full on Kafka but Eccleston is very watchable.

The writers themselves knew season one was too grim and there’s a noticeable shift in tone in the next two seasons. They even changed the theme song to something a lot more cheery. Definitely stick with it

Somewhere Boy on Channel 4/All 4 was an interesting little watch. Eight episodes of 30 mins each so doesn't take much of your time but some really good performances.

The Bear was excellent! I found out about that show entirely through recommendations here and binged it with the wife over the weekend and we both loved it. My only thing was I felt it was a little too f-bomb heavy. Maybe I'm getting old but it seemed a little gratuitous there when the obscenities could have been a little more tactical. Overall though, it was a great show. Loved the episode where the little kids had smoothies full of xanax.

New season of The White Lotus started strong. The updated theme tune is a banger as well. Also, Simona Tabasco

The Devils hour - Prime Video

Just watched the first episode and I'm hooked. It's strange with an interesting story to open the series, plenty of questions asked. Can't wait to see where it goes.

the kid can get to feck!

I’ve just started season 2. The new opening credits are horrendous

The Wire shits all over Empire
100%. Watched the the Wire for the first time a few months ago. What was I thinking not watching it in it’s first run. I think maybe the Sopranos was out at the the same time?

Finished Black Bird over the weekend. Highly recommended for anybody interested in the true crime genre. Egerton is a great lead but Paul Walter Hauser is on another level as the suspect. Having read up on the case afterwards, it kept impressively true to actual events. Anybody looking for a show about a (potential) serial killer without the exploitation, this is for you.

Decent score by Mogwai (not quite as good as their ZeroZeroZero one) and it comes in at a brisk 6 episodes. Just don't read up about it first.

On episode 3 already - really enjoying it. Not for anyone who scares easily though.

As others have said, I think they find the right balance after season 1 (which remains very good), with season 2 being pretty much tone perfect - there is obviously still a certain intensity to it, but it's not as grim. There's also a couple of absolutely incredible episodes in there.

He's wonderful throughout the show yeah. The whole cast is excellent, it has to be said.

International Assassin

I'm currently re-watching and I'd forgotten how perfect season 2 is.
International Assassin is one of my all time favourite TV episodes, and Justin Theroux's rendition of Homeward Bound at the end of the last episode sent shivers down my spine, I'd actually forgotten about it!

I was responding to you in the meantime, and specifically singling out that episode
It's so good.

Even the previous episode, a Most Powerful Adversary, is incredible.

oh and The Most Powerful Man in the World in season three too. The big "thud" of Justin Theroux's dong on the scanner is also one of the funniest things ever :joy:

Not sure if it has been mentioned or whether you have already seen:
Yellowstone.
1883- Yellowstone spin off.
Gangs of London series 2.
