Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

I really wish Billions had a darker mood. They try way too hard to make the characters funny. It's a great show, I love it, but totally agree with that.

I guess that's the Showtime style. Their other shows aren't much different from what i've seen.

yea that was my only disappointment. The trailers promoting season 1 made it appear much more serious. But it’s become more light hearted with each passing season

Since the show's premise was that cat-mouse game between Chuck and Axe, I feel like it has taken waaay too long for either one of them to go to jail, you know ?

Feel like it has had too many seasons and i'm still waiting for that big moment where one character truly ''gets one'' over the other.

Based on the wheel of time series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. Starts November 19 in the UK.

Fully agreed. When I first saw the trainer I thought it would be a mini series, 1 or 2 seasons max.

Has anyone watched Midnight mass on Netflix? I’ve only just finished the 2nd episode but it seems very promising and whoever the guy playing the priest is, is dropping a masterclass in acting.

The Billion Dollar Code on Netflix

it has decent reviews but I thought it was pretty shite to be honest

Yeah, it's not bad, the tension ramps up and the finale is very satisfying. The only criticism I saw before I watched it was that there is at least one very long monologue per episode but that didn't bother me. Stick with it.

i binged it over a couple of days, really enjoyed it. theres a plot device where a couple of main characters just have long chats / therapy sessions which serves to explain the story which have been panned by some as being a cheat, but i quite enjoyed them.

Finished billions and walking dead latest seasons. Billions; great.
Walking dead; why am i still watching this? Shambolic. Boring. Awful.

Anyway; Penny Dreadful? Anybody? Is that good?

I thought it was quite good. Worth a watch yeah.

I am scouring the web for something to watch now that suits my taste. Seems like I have watched everything there is and read the whole internet being unemployed for a while. Tomorrow the Duch movie "The forgotten Battle" premieres on Netflix though. I think that might be a good war movie to watch.

Is it really any good? :smirk: My mind needs a bit darker stuff normally but maybe will check it out one day

I just now found that I have not seen the two latest seasons of American Horror Story. Anyone know if season 9 and 10 is any good?

First time I've heard of this one and yeah seems to have quite good reviews. What makes it pretty shite for you? Acting, plot?

the reviews are good so maybe its just me

but yeah I found the acting pretty clunky, the characters one-dimensional and the plot-devices were all a bit stale

It was ok. I watched a season or two of it. If you like Eva Green, it's worth a watch. ;)

I love Penny Dreadful but they had some issues with the writers and the last season was rushed. It's still worth the watch regardless.

Eva is cute but that Josh. It's the eyes. ;)

I was a bit underwhelmed by Squid Game, tbh. So I thought I'd jump straight into something completely different. I've only binged up to season 3 of Castlevania so far but, my god, this is a good show. Everything from the storyline, voice acting, art style, fight scenes to the atmosphere is fantastic. They're not afraid of a little swearing, violence or nudity either.

It's only 32 episodes too, so should be easily watchable. And despite never playing the video games myself I don't think the writers are expecting me to be familiar with any of that.

Having peeked ahead at the IMDB ratings for the final season, I can see that it finishes a high point. There's nothing worse than a story that lacks a good ending. Looking forward to getting to that point.

I had no idea he was still acting when I started that show. He'd been MIA since like Pearl Harbor.

Great show, and I'm overdue a rewatch so thanks for that.

'You' season 3 drops on nettieflix today.

I highy recommend not watching the S3 trailer on Youtube as it was more of a season summary than a fecking trailer.

For anyone who isn’t fed up of Korean films/TvProgrammes yet, Netflix dropped My Name today and I’ve watched up to episode 4 and so far it’s been excellent. Kinda got a Departed storyline.

Gangster daughter joins the Korean Narcotics team to unearth her fathers murderer whilst also helping the firm. Would highly recommend it off of what I’ve seen so far.

EDIT: finished this now and it’s brilliant. Well worth a watch.

The Chestnut Man (Danish: Kastanjemanden) has gotten a lot of attention in Denmark, so thought I would check it out. Ended up binge-watching the entire thing yesterday evening, and found it to be quite good. It is a relatively standard murder-mystery thriller series made by the same guy behind The Killing, which became very popular a number of years ago.

While it is perhaps somewhat formulaic and relies on some classic crime drama tropes (two partners budding heads at first, main character being a great detective but struggles personally, etc.), it makes up for it in execution. The plot, acting and overall atmosphere is all pretty good, and I also found the cinematography to be excellent. It is also well-paced, and at 6 episodes of an hour each it is not a big commitment.

Solid 7/10. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys a crime series (and doesn't mind it not being in English).

Finished it over the weekend. It was really very good. Right up there with any of the other shows I've binge watched since the start of covid.

Seasons 1 and 2 together are some of the best TV I've seen in years. 3 and 4 are great as well, but a slight dip.

I've enjoyed it quite a bit. I only remember some of the later ones from when I was young so it's been interesting to watch the series from the beginning.

Mandalorian - The last show I've watched, think it was last year.

I highly recommend especially if you're a Star Wars fan!

Finished 'The Night Of' and thought it was a good mini series. Not particularly ground breaking, but well done and I enjoyed John Turturro's character. Only eight episodes so worth a watch if you're looking for a quick fix of crime and drama.

I am soooooo late to the party, but Top Boy is close to perfect. A couple of storyline’s jammed together too haphazardly but it’s Fcuking brilliant.

No point in judging it against the best multiple season works, but Anyone that rated ‘The Night Of’ and hasn’t checked out Top Boy needs to try harder.
