Television Anyone recommend me any TV Shows?

The Rookie is back on in America... it's my favourite turn your brain off guilty pleasure show going right now.

I can't bring myself to watch Black Mirror. From everything I've heard/read, it's endlessly depressing and bleak.

Any nice episodes?

Black Mirror is a must watch. A few misses but when its good its very, very good.

Looks like a pretty run of the mill American procedural. Is it actually good?

I mean it's a long way from being The Wire, and won't win any awards any time soon... but I find it to be entertaining, with a decent blend of action and comedy, and just an easy watch when I don't wan't to have to think about anything that's actually going on.

Also I'm a big fan of Fillion, so that probably helps.

Is there not a thread here for Amazon Prime's Hunters? Am a few episodes in. Quite a good guilty pleasure. Always nice to have some camp Nazis as villains.

Just finished Mr Robot. Anyone recommend anything on Amazon? Doesnt need to be new. Theres tons of rated TV I havent seen

Looking at maybe Sneaky Pete or Justified next. Any comments on these or any others to recommend?

Justified is brilliant. Vikings too or The Boys

Justified is good stuff. Olyphant was the perfect lead, and the (more) backwards parts of the US are great settings for crime dramas (a la True Detective S1).

Both are good. Sneaky Pete is only a few seasons so I’d start with that.

Castlevania is up there with the best animated shows I've ever watched.

And the voice-acting, it's like butter being poured into my ears. Fecking brilliant show.

Started watching Hunters, the new Amazon Prime series with Al Pacino. I’m 3 episodes in and it’s pretty good so far.

We’re up to ep 5 I think. Problem I have with it is the outrage in the show about the operation to bring over German scientists to the US after the war.
I thought everyone must have known about that. Shit, I heard about it and I grew up in Ireland.
The US used to brag (or was it the Soviets?) that “our German scientists are better than yours”.
Both sides grabbed as many as they could.

Overall the show’s not bad but I feel there’s something off .... I can’t quite find the right words for it.

Season 3 living up to the previous 2 I take it? Going to watch it tomorrow.

It is one of the best things Netflix have ever done, and that comes from someone who wouldn't put anime as a favourite genre.

It's got that look to it but I wouldn't say it's an anime really.

The first season is only four 25 minute episodes so it's worth trying to see if you enjoy it.
I’m not into anime and I thought it was swell.
Cool beans. I saw an article that said if you like the Witcher to watch that but when I saw it was an anime styled cartoon it turned me off. I'll give it a shot.

Some of them are pretty bleak, but some also have some amazing concepts and are very cool.

I'd recommend:

- The Entire History of You (Season 1) - pretty messed up but liked the concept.
- White Christmas (Season 2)
- Nosedive (Season 3)
- San Junipero (Season 3)
- USS Casllister (Season 4)
- Hang the DJ (Season 4)

I quite enjoyed the above episodes, and the fact that they're standalone made them a really enjoyable watch.
Metalhead was good entertainment as well.

Rome (2005) - Incredible show. The largest set created in history, too. Cancelled after second season, though. BBC pussied out after season one with the joint funding, so, HBO had to condense 3-4 more seasons worth of material into one last season (and still did a good job). The cost per episode was higher than that of Game of Thrones some years later.

You (Netflix) - Basically, it's a Dennis Reynolds prequel. (not really, but they are really similar). Great little show about love and obsession with just a huge hint of stalker-vibe.

One of Netflix's best show On My Block is back with season 3 today. Just watched the first episode and, as ever, it was great.

Anyone looking forward to The Plot Against America? Seems to be getting rave reviews.

Time to dive into the Arrowverse for the forseeable future of self isolation.

Feel this thread will become important over the next couple weeks.

Preferably British crime series. Dont mind scary or gory, quite like those.

Like big shocks but prefer ones that dont keep jumping between past and present dont mind the odd bit but cant be doing with ones that you lose track of what's going on

Not a fan of American ones as they tend to be too ott unless anyone knows any good ones that arent

Loved Line of Duty and Slasher, just finished Flesh and Blood that was pretty good

The more tense the better, really want something that when the episode finishes you're so gripped you want to move straight on to the next one

Unrelated but just finished both seasons of Netflix Drive to Survive, covering the F1 teams and drivers it was absolutely brilliant, even my boyfriend who isn't interested in F1 really enjoyed it so can reccomend that in return

The English game seems like a decent show. A good substitute for football for this weekend

Have you seen "Eleventh Hour" (2006)? It's the one with Patrick Stewart amd Asley Jensen. Very good miniseries, and only 4 episodes.

Currently watching Hannibal on Netflix - very good considering how much I enjoyed the books and films. Bodyguard was a good Brit series.
