Anyone else hate Oasis?

taste in music is unique and perceptional to an individual. what is shite to one man, is paradise to another. firstly young man, it is unfair to call probably the biggest selling band of the last 15 years 'overhyped'. Secondly, they actually do have the right to call 'your faves' shite, they have earned the right. just as margaret thatcher has the right to say gordie brown is a nonce.
been there, done that, got the feckin t shirt...

what you have to remember is that all this name calling from the band in question is part of their make up, their image. they want to be seen as manc gobshites, and the majority expect them to act it as well.

musically they are fantatsic. maybe not to your tatse (emo i bet). deifinitely may be/whats the story were massive sellers. but today with gem archer and andy bell they sound well better. its not just about the gallaghers anymore, they are infact now a band. the other members contribute to all new projects.

i think you are deeply affected by the fact they are bitters. rise above it kid.
just because it differs from your individual taste does mean they are shite, a multitude of worldwide music critics and the majority of the population can't be wrong, can they ?

On the one hand you seem to be claiming that music is entirely subjective, on the other arguing that critics and punters 'can't be wrong'. Well if it's totally subjective, people slagging off Oasis can't be wrong either, surely?

Music isn't entirely subjective. Bach's St. Matthew's Passion is better than Whigfield's "Saturday Night". It just is. The genius of a Mozart may not be fully recognised in his day, and prevailing tastes may change... but if they ever change enough that Snow Patrol are considered on a par with The Beatles, it will no longer be the same thing we're talking about when we say 'music', in my book.

Oasis wrote some good songs and caught the zeitgeist. They're musically pretty crap, lyrically abominable, and very samey. Either of these things one its own might be forgiveable, like, say, the Sex Pistols' musicianship. In Oasis' case, all they have going for them are attitude, some good tunes (if very derivative, at times to the point of plagiarism), and a good singer, whose voice isn't what it was.

Stop Crying your Heart out and feckin' in the Bushes are in the same ilk - best things they've turned out in the past decade.

I like Oasis, always have - especially live. I stack plenty of their songs up with my favourites from the likes of the Who and Kinks.

However, when those other members left, Noel should have jumped on the chance to hire some truly awesome musicians and re-invented themselves.

Firstly, please stop with the "kid", "son" "junior" etc remarks, its abit patronising mate :p

Secondly, im guessing you missed the IMO at the end of my sentence, stating that it is within my opinion that their music is overhyped, I understand that peoples music tastes vary and I appreciate that, I still though have a right to express my opinion.

And by the way, if you think I can tolerate 2 seconds of any emo crap, well you're mistaken. I despise emo music more than anything and I do believe it to be a cancer in the music industry. In case you're wondering my music tastes lay within Dance, Trance, Drum and Bass and in my younger days classic thrash/heavy metal was what I listened to.

I couldnt care less that theyre bitters either. I've more or less disliked them before I even knew where their loyalties lay.

Hope this clears things up.

There is about 100 Oasis threads they always seem to end up like this. People arguing about them "first 2 ablums good the rest not" same old stuff.

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

and you don't like blur. I wonder why.

I like Blur and Oasis as you can see from my posts in either thread, so don't come out with this crap Wes.

I agree!

"Ever fallen in love with someone?
Ever fallen in love?
In love with someone
Ever fallen in love? (Love…)
In love with someone
You shouldn't've fallen in love with..."?

:D

Any band that could turn the sentence "ever fallen in love with someone you shouldn't have fallen in love with?" in one of the catchiest refrains ever is sheer genious.

I like blur and oasis too. I just know where each rate - blur are by far closer to the Who and the Kinks than Oasis are, have been or every will be. The feckin twats.

It's not about how I rate them as a band at all, and neither Oasis nor Blur are anywhere near close to the likes of the Kinks and the Who.

Never got into the Who. Dunno why. Influential? For sure.

There are plenty of people who rate the Beatles and the Stones over them, I think there was just so much good out at that time.

It's like me, I've never really got into Floyd or Queen. Might sound strange to a lot of people, others not, but they just do nothing for me really.

To me Spiral Scratch is the single most influental album ever made.

I ate the Beatles, don't rate the Stones. Love the Pistols, Joy Division, the Stone Roses and the Buzzcocks

Scissor Sisters. Yes I know, theyre a very insultable band due to their homosexual look, still I like the music and its great for clubbing.

Though I dont think it gives Liam Gallagher the right to say, and I quote:

"If that's what they call entertainment, then they can f**king have it - bright colours and f**king weirdos on stilts?
"I'm more entertaining than those c**ts, and I'll rip their f**king vocal chords out any day, because they're f**king rubbish." "

Are you on the left or the right?

:lol::lol:

You're a funny man mate.

And for the love of god learn to resize images too

Nope, your gayness knows no bounds....
Scissor Sisters? Over Oasis? Honestly mate, even if you were on a gay forum, where you no doubt belong, you wouldn't be taken seriously on that either....

and then

righto

When I listen to that type of music, I have plenty of Oasis tracks on my playlist alongside a lot of my stuff from the 60's/70's, probably because so far in my lifetime they are some of the only songs that I lived through when they happened that I like and that I think will be put up with the greats in years to come.

That's not comparing the bands though is it, so you are wrong to try to make something out of nothing.

I'll accept your apology :smirk:

Because music taste really reflects sexuality...how old are you? 12?

I listen to whatever I fancy listening to, regardless if the artist loves cock or not.

If Liam Gallagher came out and admitted to being a homosexual, will you immediately burn every oasis record you own?

Grow up mate.

I'm 28, and if Liam came out and said he sucked cock I think most lads who liked Oasis would revert their attention from them, but he doesn't, he is a normal lad, not a lycra wearing queer who 'don't feel like dancing', and I don't like Wham and I don't like Queen either. Call me a homophobe if you want, don't give a feck but it's not my cuo of tea but let's be honest, and I'm being absolutely serious here mate, what do you expect saying things like this? You obviously have queer friends, which is fine, doesn't bother me, I have worked with gay men and that and most have been decent people, as that's all they are, normal people, but you seem intent on making your gay acceptance clear - are you insecure? I persoanlly would twat a man if he tried it on with me, yet wouldn't ignore a guy I worked with who was queer if he said hello...

lol.....and now that sums you up.

a) No im not gay at all, so I hope you can relax.

b) Im stating a musical opinion, and most people here have disagreed, but respected my opinion. Thats all cool. You on the other hand seem to think im a homosexual because I dont like Oasis.

c) For a 28 year old, you have alot of growing up to do.

No
No
No
You're just a muppet with shit taste in music who obviously needs to sort his record collection out or admit he loves the cock.

nice post - and they follow that crap team in the "real" Manchester

I give up, you're boring.

Im off to get a kebab and watch the game.

Do you mean you're off to get shish kebab'd by two men's cocks and watch them wrestle afterwards?
fecking minstrel...
All the best, use some vaz for feck's sake.

I love Oasis. Brilliant band, probably my favourite of all time. Yes, from Be Here Now to Don't believe the truth, they didnt live upto Definately Maybe and WTSMG, but that's cause the frist two albums were so fecking brilliant. Every album by them is fairly fecking good, and I'll be the first in cue to buy thier new one*

* = Download illegally, but whatever ;)

To be fair.....Liams got a point! ;)
