That's not an official u21 PL match. Everyone on MUTV said Tyler would be suspended for the first team too and I remember Ivanovic serving his first team suspension with an u21 match. Unless the MSC match against Bolton counted, which I don't think it would as technically it is just a friendly then Tyler is still suspended.

He did, it was a couple of years ago. I can't remember how they did it, his red card might have been in the Community Shield or something which might have made a difference.
Red cards in the charity shield no longer count towards league or cup matches, hence it only being a friendly. That's why Ivanovic didn't get a ban into the season.
Ah, fair enough. I remember at the time some pundits saying something about him serving it in the reserves but then pundits haven't a clue half of the time anyway.
