Antony | On loan to Real Betis

The media spin around players that leave us is getting beyond a joke now. We are used for clicks, engagement, talking topics, fan debates, drama, the list is endless. All big media outlets know what they're doing and it's becoming so tiresome.

I'm all for our loanees having a good time at their new clubs because it obviously raises their value for a future sale, especially Antony, but this is just complete nonsense.

I watched the game and there was nothing about his performance that stood out at all. He had a good shot on target that resulted in a goal for Betis but other that it was incredibly mediocre. The stats do not lie, and every single stat based site rated him a 6.5, which is about right. Just above average. The media won't tell you this though, this image of Antony is all over the socials this morning, followed by a multitude of rival fans jumping on the bandwagon spinning the same rhetoric "See, it's not the player's fault, it's Manchester United's" which is just complete nonsense.

We all know that there has been a serious attitude and poisonous attitude at the club, it's been there for years and it goes all the way back to the days of Mou, in fact that's where it began. But the complete nonsense that is drivelled online about how 'X' player turns into a world beater once they leave United is complete and utter, waffle.

Sancho in his last 10 apps (707 mins) has 1 goal and 1 assist... that's in all comps, in a Chelsea team that's clearly playing a lot better than we are this season too. What a star he is.

McTominay in his last 10 apps (987 mins) has 1 goal and 2 assists, in all comps, in a much worse league to which we'd all agree, in a team that again is lot more cohesive than ours currently is. What a big miss he is.

Martial in his last 10 apps (786 mins) has 3 goals and 1 assist, in all comps, in a genuine farmers league, in a team that is one of the top teams in said farmers league. Such a shame we let him leave, I'd love his impact at United right now..

You get my point with this, too many times all over social media I'm seeing that we ruin players, they're always better when they leave etc, and it's just not true. The fact of the matter is, we as United fans big up every single player that we have, to the point where they're perceived as complete superstars to the outside looking in, when in fact, it's really not the case.

If Rashford goes and scores a hattrick on his Villa debut, best believe the media will have a frenzy over it. It will be feeding time for them, and the people they'll look to feed off is United fans and the club as a whole. If Rashford scores a hattrick then great for him, and even better for us as hopefully he does enough for them to sign him. He could score back to back hattricks, I STILL WOULD NOT WANT HIM AT MANCHESTER UNITED. He hasn't been that player for us for 2.5+yrs, why on earth would we want him back? It's complete nonsense, and I'm sick to the back teeth of it.

Where did you get this from?
ETH son Nigel was a scout for Ajax during his tenure there and helped scout some of the players. after ETH left Ajax, Nigel joined SEG International as a data consultant where ETH agent Kees Vos works ( he brought us Van Persie) At least Höjlund and Amrabat deals were incoming under supervision of SEG. Articles from 2023-4 also indicated their analytical department were involved in data for Antony, Martinez and Onana and brokering of the deals but not being direct agents.

I guess we got dependant on SEG & Vos during his tenure And so far in my opinion the only incoming that worked was Lisandro.

That's really interesting, didnt know that, altghough that reeks of nepotism.

I'll say this in his favour - when he has players finding space and making runs he is able to exploit it. At United I think the players are all so frozen on the ball or the spot on which they are standing that all players look shite and incapable. He'll have more willing and intelligent runners at Betis and will look a better player I think. Increase that value.

So you're basically saying that for the last couple of seasons we've only been making plans for Nigel?

Happy to see he did well and hope he carries on. Wish all of our players had the desperation that he has on the pitch, although he just doesn't have the ability. A better ball to him for their first goal would've put him through on goal, and was a great run but at least he got an assist with it.

I am a bit surprised he wasn't tried at LWB to be honest. For all his flaws he never shirked a bit of hard work, it was worth trying before this Dorgu lad was brought in.
He probably would have been more of a RWB (as Amad is and as Antony was a couple of times off the bench), but yes it was a bit surprising. He and Amad linked up well down that side the few times we did use that combination.

I suspect we were deliberately freezing him out to encourage him to leave, much like Casemiro and Rashford. Both Antony and Casemiro probably deserved a bit more gametime than they got, with Antony in particular having a fair chance of being our best RWB against weaker teams. But the idea would be to freeze them out and take a bit of short term pain for long term gain (getting their over-the-top wages off the books and being able to replace them with players that are ultimately better for lower wages). The same could be said for Rashford if we were looking only at on-field performances, but he seemed to have attitude or effort issues on top of that.

Of course, forcing them to leave only works if we actually replace them properly when they do...

Nailed it.

ABU can’t wait to write their nxt story and feed off the name

I actively choose not to click anything.

McT gone. Couldn’t give any less of a shit and won’t read anything about the guy. The only time I’ll see him again is if we ever come up against them in Europe.

Antony, Sancho, Rashford. All the same. Zero interest in players that haven’t been good enough. Won’t in any way shape or form go out my way to read something about a player I have zero interest in.

I still might of course see highlights from casual viewing of MOTD and the like
