All well and good but how tall is he. Anything below 6.6 is a midget and not fit to play in the league.
I’ve googled him and I can’t find a single photo or video where he’s bigger than about 3 inches tall.

I tried screencasting them and I could only make him around 14 inches tall on a close up so he’s clearly not big enough for the PL along with Martinez.

In all likelihood they are going to get Ziyech back, a better player for Ajax than Antony, and probably still currently. A lot of money on potential.

Brilliant Summer for Ajax really.
They've been decimated and have to start from scratch without the manager who was making them a name for a new generation.

If they could, would they rather keep that team and manager together or be where they are now?

This 100%.

What we must have in mind is, that if we wanted to buy guarenteed world class as the likes of Mbappe it would probably cost us north of 200m euro.

We are getting a young brazilian international with every bit of the required technical ability to tear up defencesin ant leagues. Even a left footed player, who is playing on the right wing.
Those factors alone should keep his market value up for some time no matter how he does for us.

In addition, we happen to have a manager with great insight in terms of his mentality and personality. Ten Hag has talked and talked about work ethics and the importance of hard work ever since preseason. He wouldn’t vouch for Antony if he had any concerns about that. That’s another risk less to wory too much about.

Given the mentioned factors I think it’s worth the risk. Certainly in light of the few players we have to choose from in our attack.
I am an Ajax fan, and to be honest. I’d rather have Anthony than the 100 mil. We have a lot of money on the bank, but he is not replaced so easily. Just to send different perspective from most of the players here

Just like Martinez, as soon as he starts performing nobody will mention the fee.

Just relax and enjoy him. (if some of you even can)

Worrying about prices seems weird these days. The money in football is mental, we can't control it and it's not our money.

We are signing a really exciting young player. I don't get why people don't just enjoy it.
We have a limited budget. Spending so much on Antony means we can’t address the other position well, such as CF and goalkeeper.

C'mon guys, I know the fee is high and all, but who here as a fan really cares? I watch United to be entertained, and this guy looks like he can get Old Trafford on it's feet every time he gets the ball? Isn't that why we watch?

Ten Hag clearly thinks this guy has crazy potential, and from what I've seen of him he looks ridiculously talented. We may be breaking the bank, but I can't think of another more exciting right-sided attacker in Europe. I'm buzzing now for the game Thursday to see if he's involved. That's what it's all about right?

Amen

Ah. The incompetence of this board is staggering. They should have taken an inch tape measure with them while scouting him. Does Lou macari even know about this guy??? If not we have wasted money.

Two Brazil International wingers (Richarlison and Raphinha) moved for significantly less money in this window than we've just thrown at Antony and both of them are considerably more proven than he is. The current market is expensive if your idea of the current market is limited to one club in Amsterdam that is already cash rich.
I don't think either of them have anywhere near as much raw talent and potential as Antony. Neither of those two would get me interested like this deal.

I wasn't 100% on Antony because I felt like we needed De Jong so much more. But now that we've signed him, I can't wait to see what he can do in a United shirt.

Usually the likes of Antony always end up at either Real or Barca, so it feels like a coup for us to get him. Who cares if Richarlison and Raphina went for less? I really can't see either of them getting Old Trafford rocking for those big games. I can see that with Antony.

Couldn't give a shit about the fee,he's talented,on the way up and wants to come play for UTD and the manager knows what he's getting, not to mention he'll add a bit of flare.
Bring it on.

£80mil according to the Beeb. It's extortionate, but in the current climate where a Grealish is going for £100mil, it's not bat shit crazy.

Did people expect us to sign a whole team this transfer window. It's weird. People seem to be shifting goalposts for our recruitment team. By any account now, nobody can say United haven't gone out and made improvements to the squad. At the very least, none of the players we signed will be poor enough to be considered deadwood as a lot of the previous squads we have had.

We also still have Maguire, Shaw, Fred, Rashford and AWB still in the squad, who will most likely not be starting and in future might stay with the squad or be replaced. Not only did we get good additions, we significantly improved our squad.

I'd argue that seeking value in the market more than anything has been what has kept us back. Prior to last season, our big deals have been Pogba, Lukaku and Di Maria. For a big team trying to get back to the top, that's not saying much.

I can enjoy him, knows he will bting us alot of joy on the pitch.

About the money, who the feck cares? Better the money is used on players than dividends or interest.
amen to that.

i’m absolutely delighted we got it done

Flashy player, his numbers are poor for a 100M player. But Ten Hag must love him to push it this far, hopefully he'll be alright.

The pressure will be immense, I can see this ending pretty badly. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Who needs two feet? Basically, we've paid for his left foot.
Arguably the best player of all time was more one-footed than Antony; as long as he can manipulate the ball on both sides of his foot, he doesn't need his right to fulfil his potential.

Not sure people understand issue when it comes to spending mental money on transfer/wages, for me its not about money, its about its effect on future dealings either impact overall or as an example for others to use it in the future. Same goes for wages, in both cases, those dont exist in some bubble, our bloated wage bill thats being drained by leechers dictates wages of new comming players etc.

And yet it's less money than we paid for Pogba about 6 years ago and whom remains to this day our record signing.

If Antony was absolutely tearing up the Eredivisie I would be reassured but the fact that he hasn't really outperformed Tadic makes me slightly wary. He may have a lot of upside but he is much more of a punt than the other two as well. I'm not saying that he won't be brilliant but I am saying that it is an awful lot of money to pay for a guy who has never really done much to this point.

Different position and similar age, but Tchouameni went to Real for an astronomical fee this summer but he had absolutely bossed the French League for at least two years in a row to back it up. Antony hasn't really done anything so far.

Then stop only focusing on the goals and assist stats. Try looking at successful dribbles, successful take ons, chance creation etc. He definitely brings a lot to the table.

We've overpaid by about 30m if not 40m.

Good player but this will put additional pressure on him.

We was never gonna sign all our targets in 1 summer anyway. We’ve had a brilliant window. Takes about 3 to get every single target we want. I think with Antony now we will have enough goals within the team to finish top 4. Next season we go for a ST to replace Ronaldo and hopefully we already have a keeper we can use in Henderson so that should save money to then upgrade the RB position.

Good stuff. He basically replaces what we lost in greenwood. Has a swagger and flair. Will be exciting to watch and is a definite upgrade on elanga.
The hope is he makes an impact straight away although he could struggle like a lot do with the intensity. He has the potential to be up there with someone like mahrez and lets hope he achieves that.
For the glazers, this is the reality of the transfer market for top clubs, you need to spend big to stay competitive.

They might be, but the more important numbers are goals and assists. 8 goals and 4 assists last year in the eredivise is nothing to be excited about.

Hopefully as you said there's value underneath that, but for a 100M I'd expect much better numbers.

He has a very good work ethic and knows how hard ETH expects him to work. Most of our squad have been playing in the PL for years and they have not got very good intensity and arguably struggle with the intensity. He definitely won't be on the lower end of the intensity scale within the squad.

Well someone posted a video of him a couple of pages back and by looking at it i would say he should have had at least 12 assists and was let down by poor finishing.

One thing I really like about Antony is that despite very much being a flair player, at Ajax he was immediately open to learn about working hard without the ball. His productivity isn't spectacular, but a guy with serious flair who can dribble past opponents, who is left footed and wants to run for the team when out of possesion is a nice addition to our squad for sure.

Much better business compared to Casemiro considering resale value. Fee is very high, but it's not like our rivals aren't spending absurd amounts on players who aren't guaranteed to even be that great for them.

Still a steep price for a young talented player who needs to make another step to be a consistent difference maker at the top end of the Premier League.

As far as im concerned it cost us 100 not only to sign antony but to bench rashford also.

We've overpaid to bench rashford. Atleast thats how im justifying overpaying.

Yep. For example, note Antony top right on the below. Also worth noting where Martinez is too. It's fairly basic but actually being being able to progress the ball forward effectively is something we've struggled with in recent years.

Been said many times, the fee is ridiculous, Ajax have totally mugged you off BUT if people can look past that, I really think this guy might be the player you all thought Sancho would be and I think he'll be a better player also.

I may be super old school but the signs of football changing so much in recent years is the fact that we paid record fees for right-footed left forward and left-footed right forward. Whatever happened to right-footed RW and left-footed LW the way I grew up watching? If the likes of Beckham or Giggs are playing today, would they be outdated because football is not played that way anymore?

Exactly, that is a great graph, thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, after the era of Messi and Ronaldo, along with Football Manager, some people can't see passed goals and assists in judging players.
