We might become a bit better on the wings. We currently play with no width, no one stretches the play and Antony might give us that bit extra. All in the air, he could also flop massively
By the way, I've been checking numbers and two seasons ago (20/21) Antony played 1700 minutes in the league, scored 9 goals, had 8 assists with 1.8 shots p/90.
The following season (21/22) he played the same minutes but scored 8 goals (1 less), had 4 assists (4 less) and he had 3.4 shots p/90, around double than the previous season.
I didn't follow his evolution closely but it looks like he started playing in a more collective way in 20/21, and last season he played in a much more individualistic way, shooting at higher rate per game than everyone at Ajax but producing less than the previous season, and assisting half of it too.
Not only his numbers are nothing extraordinary considering it's the Eredivisie, he isn't showing there a clear evolution or maturity to justify a big transfer, let alone the numbers we're talking about. If we waited one season Ajax would be more open to sell next summer and we wouldn't need to spend that much.
Antony would keep favouring meeting with ETH more than probably, and we would have another season to evaluate the player and have a final judgement. It's not like Antony guarantees anything in the immediate term, so I don't know why this urgency and getting crazy for this guy now.

I would suggest players can evolve without their “numbers” getting higher.
If ETH wants him I think we need to get him now. He’s already around the Brazil squad and waiting until next season carries the risk that he will be more expensive and / or will have other options.

Best since last year right..., I here it every year, the reality is Dutch league players hardly ever succeed in the premier and you are missing the point we on course to have be fleeced 3 times this summer which will put our spending to around 200 million on just 4 players of Antony, martinez, a 30 year old casimero and malacia, that does not scream great value for the money spent and is not a sustainable strategy for any club that is not state owned

I think the signings are good and not that expensive. You are mistaken if you think we can snap up a few world beaters for £50. Spending is essential. It may not be sustainable but then we probably won’t sustain it. Next year we will spend less. Try not to worry so much.

So late 90's/early 2000's, there is a far bigger gap in quality these days, we constantly see the best Dutch league players come over here and struggle over the past 10 -15 years from klassan to depay, the only one that stands out in all of that time that has been a legit success is suarez.
For having such a slight frame, he really does look strong on the ball after watching a few Champions league highlights of Ajax. The Dortmund game springs to mind.
