No matter how shite we are the moment, cliché as it may sounds we're still Manchester United and with that the attentions he will get is enormous. His performance will be scrutinized by TV pundits, paper & twitter journalist, youtube fancam and pretty much every social media available out there. I can see already the comments would be why "Antony did that, he should did this, he should stop doing that, he should do that more etc" and you know it will end up with this is not a 100M player.
And imo it will be difficult for anyone really to escape with that much attentions particular in this age of modern football. The amount of pressure on him to justified his transfer fee will definitely affect his performance no matter what club, fans or ETH himself said that the fee is irrelevant. Even our own recent record signings pretty much proof this with the likes of Pogba, Maguire. And I don't think anyone can be absolute be certain who Antony will cope with all that but sadly in Manchester United, high transfer fee didn't end well.

80 mln euro is 67 mln pounds. That additional fees will be paid if he plays and has some success here. Gibbs White went to Forrest for 45, Raphinha and Richarlison cost Barca and Spurs around 60 milions both had less then 2 years on their contract and were playing in far smaller clubs then Ajax who already Lost lot of players and get paid quite well, they need players not money, they know ten Hag wants him and we do not have left footed RW at all. He is not worth 80 mil for other team who have players in his position but he is worth that for us because he should make our team play much better and he is worth that for Ajax because they know if he stays he gonna make them better and if not they gonna get lot of money.

I don’t care much about the fee at the moment, we’re desperate. But the fact we consistently overpay for players is what leads to transfer windows like this. Every other team knows they can ask for ridiculous prices and drag it out for months, calling United’s bluff on take it or leave it offers early in the summer.
And all transfers carry some risk, a proportion are always going to fail, and the wages and fee we paid for those failures makes them incredibly difficult to move on. All of those things make it an incredibly slow and clunky process to evolve the team, exacerbated by the managerial roundabout.
You can’t just act like there’s no long-term consequences to decisions like this. We’re living through them. And the difficulties we’re facing right now on and off the pitch are influence by them.

100 million, 80 million, it doesn't really matter - absurd fees for a player that is all potential, and plays Dutch league football. You have no idea how these players take to playing top level, intense football week in week out for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
We're taking all the risk and for I don't know how much reward. The guy chips in, he's not dominating his league, or anything of that sort. What is telling us that we should risk 80-100 million euros?

I like the look of Antony, but £100 million-wow.
His goals and assists in the champions league last year came against a Dortmund side that weren't exactly solid at the back shipping plenty of goals over the season, and Sporting who are currently ranked 28th by Uefa.
In the Eredivisie, he scored 3 versus teams in the top six and had one assist versus teams in the top 6.
2 of his 8 goals came against Willem II (a squad worth 14.04m), and so did 1 of his assists. They were relegated.
He did only play 26 games so could have had even better numbers, but if you take a look at Eredivisie, multiple players throw up similar stats at a fraction of the cost.
I am excited for what he would bring as a left footed right wing, but wouldn't be surprised to see him leaving in a season or two for 30m.
The value is ridiculous based on the average transfer in that league. We could buy several Eredivisie squads of players for 100 million (and probably pay the wages).
Ajax will replace him for less than 20m, and that replacement will likely hit the same numbers.

€100m for an unproven player is insane, but Ajax know United are desperate. The price tag certainly won't help his mentality if he struggles early on transitioning to the Premier League. The Eredivisie is a crap shoot for players making it in England.

Murtough has to draw that line. There is backing the manager but even that has to be done within reason. They are just desperate because of how the messed up the window by not drawing that line on the de Jong deal earlier.
Sounds like this will happen if he is missing training and games. The money is more than enough, it would be Ajax record sale by a mile ? They can replace him with the same quality player for 1/4 of the money
130m for Joao Felix is pretty much the same. Insane prices but you can justify them if you have the money and you believe he's the perfect fit for what you need and that he'll be an excellent player. Joao Felix isn't a 130m player yet but nobody really cares as he's a very good player at the end of the day so whatever. That's all Antony needs to be. A very good fit for United and develop into a very good player.
IMO, Antony is exactly the type of player we need on the wing, and has the rare level of talent that he can develop into a top top player. And he's left footed and a right winger. There aren't many players with that mix out there. The only other option there to a much lower talent level is Pedro Neto.
I'd sooner pay 100m for a lot of other players, but I can't say I'm familiar with anyone at RW. I figure our scouts should be able to find some young talent out there though! Personally would favour spending big on getting SMS, him alongside Casemiro would be pretty tasty.

One of our problems is that we over pay for players.
We can never get a deal on a top player because they will want parity with our top earners. Casemiro was fine making significantly less money at Real, but for us we can’t get a player like that without paying him twice as much.
Then our role players want more money. This happened with Wes Brown, and we caved. People like Bailly, Rojo or AWB are on such big wages we can’t sell them, costing us tens of millions in lost sales and then extra wages as well.
I’m happy we have Antony. But we haven’t had a player since Ronaldo who was worth paying more than Liverpool currently pay their top earner.
We could make so much better use of our money if we didn’t constantly reek of desperation. Plus our choices have been crap but that’s another issue.

There's a good chance he may not acclimate to the PL but saying the valuation is high when it costs about 60m to sign a decent forward in this market - is a bit rich coming from us.
Stupid decision making from the club really. If you can pay up to £80m for Antony it's just an invitation for all clubs to add £35m to the asking price for any transfer fee. We were already overpaying for players by about £15-20m but we've decided to inflate that even more.
The people that claim they don't care can't look beyond this transfer. Long term all it does is reduce the number of players our transfer budget will stretch to. The amount we are willing to spend on Antony is the price of two players.

Spoken like a true Feyeonord fan.I'm not really an excel sheet guy. Antony is not even consistently good in the Dutch league. Sure, on his day he absolutely tears people to shreds here, but he's had plenty of stinkers. So the eyes may tell you lots of stuff, but do yours consistently watch our league or mostly highlights?
Actually a good example of the relative strength of our league is Steven Bergwijn he is destroying opposition for fun so far and he hardly got a look in at Spurs.
Antony is talented, but nowhere near the finished product.
Also Ajax' CL group last year was EL level opposition and he did nothing against Benfica, who are hardly CL worthy themselves.
