Dunno, why is nobody else in for Casemiro? It's not a great argument for determining whether a player should be signedToo much money.
Yes I know its not our money, but if we bump up 100m for this guy, then the next club we deal with will be expecting the same crazy money too.
The pressure on Antony with this kind of fee would be huge.
Secondly, I'm sure hes very good - but if hes that good, why is nobody else in for him?
Nunez could hit €100m if all add-ons are paid.
I don't think Diaz was around half that though and both are rumoured to be on around £100k per week.
Get Pulisic in on loan +buy option
I don't really understand why we are prepared to spend so much on him. I can accept he's good, but this is the money you pay for an elite player and I just don't see him as an elite player.
More the price. At £40mil fair enough, but there have been a number of flops out of dutch league recently, our own donny is one.
Too much money.

They're not on £100k Unless it's net.
That had a lot of clauses. It was similar to the Amad deal. I highly doubt we've paid the full 50m.We payed 50 million for Martial in 2015. That's like 100-120 million in today's money.
The fee doesn't bother me that much. We're beyond banter now anyways.
Not sure that's true though, I think the team has to do well and win things for that to be the case. Shaw has been here for nearly 10 years and Fred 5 years and they've both been mainstays. They've not been outright flops but can't say we're delighted with them. You get flops in every league. It happens, especially as clubs are always looking to get the next big thing. You could also argue that near enough every transfer is expensive and overpriced these days, and you have to pay big money to get the top talents. We had to go big with Sancho. The only alternative is getting these players earlier or developing them through the youth system.
It's going to be a high price whatever the end total is. But, if he comes in and is a mainstay in our team for the best part of the decade, then it'll be worth it. We could always go for cheaper players and they could still end up being flops. If the club deems him to be the one to take us forward, or part of the solution, then it's worth exploring.
How many other sides can A) meet Ajax's demands and B) are a good fit? The only one I can really think of is Chelsea.
£56k a week for Diaz. Which if true, is amazing value...

Secondly, I'm sure hes very good - but if hes that good, why is nobody else in for him?
It's not true. Spotrac is bullshit. Look at the clubs' financial reports instead. There's not much difference between us, Liverpool, City (who probably cook their books anyway), and Chelsea in wage expenditures. Except in the last year (probably), because we added Sancho, Varane, and Ronaldo last summer without selling anyone. But generally speaking all the media reports in recent years about us paying way higher wages than everyone else are clearly bullshit.
I'm absolutely not worried about the club's finances with this deal. If we were signing Phil Foden, Vinicius, Mbappe, Haaland, Gnabry, etc for the fee I'd be all for it. They're worth it. He isn't. All this does is guarantee he'll be a flop and will be getting loads of abuse soon. What if it is worth it? What if he becomes our Salah? What if in 10 years he's a United legend after winning the league here?
Everyone just defaults thinking negatively about every signing because they're more interested in worrying about the clubs bookkeeping
Worst signing ever. This madness has to stop. He's not worth more than €40-45M.

For the money we're talking he'll have to be a key player performing well for it to be worth it.
I get being against baseless negativity, but 100m on him is just insaneWorst signing ever, when he's not even signed, let alone kicked a football for us yet. SadCafe at its finest.

It’s more the fact they really didn’t want to lose their last 2 key players I reckon. Having said that, our desperation does not contribute to negotiations.I feel like we are paying the ETH Tax for both Martinez and Anthony.
Ajax know how much he wants them so can easily slap on an extra 40%

In a world where people come up with arbitrary numbers to value players they've probably no knowledge ofHe is definitely worth more than £33M - £38M, name any up and coming young attacker of his calibre that would go for less than £40M?
Especially when Richarlison sold for £60M, Sancho sold for £73M, Nunez for £85M.
In what world is Antony therefore only worth £40M?
Man we are p’ing off everyone like Barcelona.
Love to see it.

Dislike Murtough all you want but last season's transfer decisions weren't down to him.Until we recruit a top class elite DOF this will continue, our best signing this summer could be getting rid of Murtourgh and getting Paul Mitchell from Monaco, this should have happened after last seasons dismal performance.

i believe he will be a shrewd buy and will bring poetry to our flanks, the likes of which has not been seen since giggs.
He should already not be the one determining targets after this window closes. Even more so in your scenario.Theoretically, if United start playing half decent again and we somehow finish top 4 (or at least challenge for top 4).
BUT, Anthony, Martinez and Malacia turn out to be total flops.
Where does that leave ETH?
Agreed. Ridiculous figures!I get being against baseless negativity, but 100m on him is just insane
Was better than his poetry that was made public this week.Indeed. Giggs was known for citing poems of Arthur Rimbaud while waltzing past defenders.
To be honest nobody will be a good fit with right backs we have.To be fair he said he's not going to be a good fit with the right backs we have.
ETH is going to win or lose based on this transfer window, let’s assume he spends £200m on the following ; T Mallacia(12m), Cassemeiro(52M), L Martinez(46m), Antony (70m), A Bergovic(F), C Ericsen (F), C Gatpo(30m) Total £210M we need to ignore add ons they will never be achieved.Im sure others would like him, but not at the price Ajax can command when he has a contract that runs another 3 years.
We are paying more because we are ...
United
Terrible in the transfer market.
Have ETH an Ajax know how much he wants some of his ex players.
Are desperate.

Transfers out: A Pereira (12m), J Garner(18M), C Ronaldo (12M), AWB(13M)
P Jones (5M), Net Sales £60M
Net Spend £150M
First 11 - D De Gea, V Lindelof, R Varane, L Martinez, L Shaw, Cassemeiro, Ericsen, Sancho(10), Antony, Martial, Gatpo
2nd 11 - A Bergovic, Dalot, Bailey, Maguire, T Malacia, Fred, IQbal, Bruno, Garnaucho, Rashford, Ellanga
it’s still lot enough to get top 6, we need to sell S Mctominay (25/30M) and get a proper number 9 like I Toney who knows the PL he’s probably available At £35/45m although a mobile 4 that move and pass like Antony, Sancho, Martial and Gatpo could be devastating if they hit form
