His workrate is really quite special for a player with as much flair and technical ability as he has. The best thing about Antony is that he gives us balance. He drew players out to him all game, creating space for Fred and Bruno in the middle. He burns past people with that pace and the ball sticks to his feet like glue. If he can take his delivery up a notch, which I am sure he will, he will be world class. He's a constant threat. We haven't had a balanced forward line like this in a long time.
When all fit, Antony, Rashford, Martial and Sancho is a superb set of varied forwards to choose from. All at a great age too. Martial the oldest at 26, Rashford 24 (25 at the end of this month), Sancho and Antony both 22. If we still had Greenwood too, it'd be fecking ridiculous. Still need to add another forward to the mix for the variation, and to have a more natural number 9. We play best with three fluid forwards, but Martial is the only one of the four that is a natural finisher (if not a natural poacher). If we can ship out that human codpiece Ronaldo and bring in another central forward, we will be in great shape moving forwards.
Love Antony. There was a sequence in the second half, about 70 odd minutes in, at 2-0, where we lost the ball and he sprinted back some 60 odd yards like his life depended on it, to close the ball down. This from a player who when he is on the ball can look as elegant and composed as someone like Rivaldo (without the final ball quality yet), yet with pace and work rate. And no, I am not saying he is as good as Rivaldo, but I am saying that by his mid twenties, there is no reason why he can't be genuinely world class.
