Hopefully we find out today after they scan him. If it was ankle ligaments it would have been obvious as they swell up like an elephant's foot.

Worries me that he was holding the back of his leg in exactly the same way Martinez did when his metatarsal went.

Initially thought he was playacting, but it became clear he was in genuine pain.

Seemed so innocuous, and sadly they're usually some of the worst injuries.

Hopefully whatever it is can be treated and rehabilitated within 2-3 months as the last thing he needs is a slow start to next season.

Gutted for the lad with the injury. Still, I would say it has been a poor transfer, on us paying about 3x what we should have done.

Apparently it's the same ankle issue that kept him out last season at Ajax for a bit... I hope this doesn't become more of a recurring problem

I can’t really remember Antony play acting much, he normally just jumps up and squares up to whoever has fouled him.
Could tell he was knackered as soon as he stayed down.

As much hate as he gets on here we’ll miss him massively against City in the final. He is one of the few players we have who can take the ball under pressure and progress up the field. As well as Sancho did last night, I see him struggling against City to even get in the game.

Two months isn't a disaster. When a player goes down like that you could easily be looking at 6 months. He will probably be ok for the start of next season, just a bit behind the rest on his match fitness.

Gutted for the lad, but Sancho rose to the occasion in his place. It will be interesting to see if ETH with Garnacho, Rashford and Sancho v City.

Well, looking at the positive in this situation, at least it has come at the end of the season and it gives him time to recover. Shame he's going to miss the final, both for him personally, and us as a team. I think he's been playing much better these past few weeks.

I really like Antony. He's always exciting even if his finishing and assisting is a work in progress.

Real bummer, was hoping he’d use the preseason to work on his right foot.

There’s no “hate” for Antony.
Quite a few people feel he’s fallen short of our expectations, or failed to convince, especially considering his stupidly high transfer fee.
Almost all the criticism or scepticism has been accompanied with cutting him some slack, as it’s his first season, is still young, new to the EPL, etc, etc.

Surely Rashford, Martial and Sancho, no? Or did Martial pick up another injury?

Martial appears fit. Your recommendation has merit, but doubts about the usefulness of Martial v City are reasonable. Rashy is a vast upgrade on Martial IMO.

I think he'll play Bruno on the right, Rashford on the left and pack the midfield with Fred like he did when we beat them.

I think playing Rashford down the middle dilutes his threat somewhat - and I feel Garnacho is better off the bench.

I see what you’re saying, but if we can’t compete with City in the first half it wouldn’t matter if brought on prime Messi in the second half.

Another injury prone player on the books? We either have rotten luck or the club has to look at either their scouting or quality of conditioning coaches at the club

He is such a clumsy dribbler. The slow ponderous step overs he did before cutting inside (again) were painful to watch. Then he managed to injure himself just by being clums.
It is possibly good news for our final. Now we can play Garnacho and Rashford at 9 while Sancho moves to the right.

Impressively i think every single part of that post is wrong.

He's been fit most of the season really, wouldn't yet say he's injury prone though if it is a recurring injury then that's a slight worry.

I was watching on a stream so couldn't get a replay. But, it looked to me like the Chelsea defender scissor tackled the back of his leg. Hardly clumsy in that's the case.

I don’t know how losing our first choice RW is good news if you are a United supporter? He may not always have the end product but Antony certainly contributes to more cohesive team play and has been in good form the last month or so.

I think Sancho playing as well on the right as he did against Chelsea and having an end product just might contribute to a more cohesive team
