So you're basing your statement off the start of the season as opposed to his entire career here, obviously.

 He does need some time at the beginning of the season, almost year in year out.

I thought you meant in general, which was odd because he's extremely good at hitting form when returning from injury. Can't say I've ever really noticed him taking too long to hit form at the start of the season though, this has definitely been his slowest.

He's been fine, just not as good as last year yet. He's still the best defensive winger in the league, probably as good as Milner in that department and offers something going forward.

Tbf he started last season pretty averagely, it was only around xmas/jan that he really found his form.

Defensive winger my arse.

Apart from setting up RVP, he was atrocious, wasted so many chances to get the ball in the box because he took an eternity. Such a safe player, he just needs to let loose more often, instead of looking for the easy option 9/10. That shot at the end, well if that was a certain other United player...

He's overrated imo especially in comparison to the stick other wingers at this club get.

Very poor going forward, he often seemed to kill the momentum of attacks by just waiting and not doing anything. He is too predictable and it's disappointing that he hasn't progressed in that area. And the less said about that attempted finish, the better.

Still, he can be a very effective player when on form, but it's not working out.

He's still causing opposition fullbacks plenty of trouble IMO, Cole had another 'mare, but yeah he still doesn't look right. Started poorly last season because he missed pre-season, not sure what's up with him this time. I still think if people re-watch the highlights they'll realise he was a big threat even if the end product wasn't always there.

He is nowhere near his best, we are really awfull at wings at the moment, and yet our best winger isn't getting game time at all.

Still not hitting top form, but a 'pile of shit'? He was useful defensively and certainly not rubbish in attacking sense. I would say hit and miss. That shot at the end was terrible though, was bound to happen - the ball was too close to his peg.

This delayed cross got us a goal but it's damn annoying. Don't wait and just cross the ball.

Not his best performance today.

I thought overall he was really shit tonight.Got some good assists but his general performance was just plain shit.Let's not even mention that towards the end, it was embarrassingly funny

Fans here seem so desperate to justify wanting Nani in the team that Valencia is now getting stick. Some fans don't deserve good players.

Don't talk bullshit.

Valencia had a poor game and is having a poor season, he is no more immune to stick than any other player on this board.

Worked hard but was pretty awful going forward despite an assist, the constant delaying before crossing was frustrating as hell.

Looking just by direct goal danger, he is probably worst winger in the league.

Played like a pile of shit today

He was abysmal today, simple as that.

Good cross for the goal though.

One assist but awful apart from that.

Yet one Nani is shit?

 let it slide lads. We've just beat Chelsea away for the first time in 10 years. Go out and get drunk or somethin

I think we should have replaced him with Nani at some point during the game as it just wasn't happening for him at all. That shot near the end summed it up really

First win at Stamford Bridge in a decade and people focus their attention on a hard working winger not putting the ball in the box enough and who still claimed an assist? The fickleness

Nobody is pointing their attention to anyone, Christ, the sheer blind love for Valencia on here is madness at times, far worse would probably be said if certain other players on our team were putting in performances like that.

What? Valencia is off-form, and so is Nani.

I don't think any of our wingers deserve their spot right now so I'm certainly not pointing out Valencia's form to say "Nani should play".

Personally the players I feel most sorry for right now are Anderson and Welbeck who are both in good form. I'd play the diamond more until our wingers pick up.

I'll give my opinion as you'll give yours thanks very much. A lot of people seem upset that Nani isn't playing. Had Nani had a stinker and made a goal he'd be praised for how creative he and he's always a threat. Valencia's done the same and is getting over the top stick. One thing you'll get with Valencia is work rate at both ends to help the team, not himself.

You'd be the first one to defend Nani if he had a poor game but pulled off an assist.

No, Valencia has been well below par this season yet Nani who wasn't playing well got singled out for it. Look at his thread compared to this one. Each and every single thing Nani does comes under scrutiny now, where as Valencia can do no wrong, when in fact he hasn't been doing much right on the pitch.

It doesn't seem much of a coincidence that the most active in the Nani thread looking him to play are straight in this thread after the match to have a go at Valencia.

All you guys slating Valencia can feck off. I think we can all agree to that Ferguson knows football better than any of us, now tell me why Valencia is in the side ahead of Nani, over and over again? That's right, Valencia is better for the team, get on with it.

I love Valencia's attitude, and on form, he can be very effective. But I think he's every bit as inconsistent at Nani, and nowhere near as capable of pulling off a bit of magic. I'd love to see Nani on the right, Kagawa on the left (once he's back.)
