He was rubbish against Everton, it was an example of why he shouldn't be playing right back. Good against Fulham though, in the first half at least.

He wasn't rubbish. He wasn't great, he was ok. He was better than all but two or three of our players, and that's while playing out of position.

Ok so it's pointless. Still think he wasnt that good in those 2 games.
Nani only played one game. Didn't stop people giving him dogs abuse.
Don't know where exactly the problem lies when judging a players game. He's a brilliant player no doubt, don't get me wrong

Yeah, it's strange how one game is enough for some people to decide they have had enough when Nani was statistically our best winger last season when he wasn't playing at the top of his game (for whatever reasons), when the common myth that Valencia is more consistent is brought up and how he should start all the time.

Really? I would say in the attacking third he was as disappointing as any off our attackers were.

The reason Nani got dog's abuse was because he was absolutely shite in that game. Valencia has not been shite at all. Of course he is not going to receive the same abuse.

Valencia wasn't remotely as bad as Nani though, despite being crap, plus he was playing out of position!

I just think players should get more than two games before statements like that are made.

Well and I never said he was bad or crap our whatever. Just that he was decent and can do more. And he will I'm sure. Just like nani

Well yeah. Don't know what your point is as I've never said Nani wasn't shit in that game. He was crap. And Val wasnt on top of his game but decent. It's just that some people seem to think that only a few players can be judged after one game but others not.

You brought up Nani. You said Nani got dog's abuse after only one game, which I presumed (as you brought it up) that you were using it as some kind of justification for having a go at Valencia.

That wasnt my point at all.
People that are now complaining about judging Val after 2 games did exactly that after one from Nani.
People do it all the time you know? Judging a performance, but it seems that we are only allowed to do that with a few players.
feck this is getting too Rawkish on here, especially as I already said that I though his performance was decent and that I'm sure he will be on top of his game soon.

Jesus - he looks huge in the squad picture doesn't he? It must partly be due to some illusion because his arms look like tree trunks.

nani might not be as wide as valencia but he is muscular enough. young is rather thin and slender.

no doubt valencia is a beast!!

He's 78 kilograms.

Rooney's 82-83, Hernandez is 62, Nani is 66 and Young is 65 kg, with Giggs at 72kg and Kagawa at 64 kg.

But, like Nani, he's fecking fast; so that weight comes in handy - He's a fecking tank!

I'm pretty sure everyone sees Young as the weakest of the lot however; Nani's very strong and conditioned well, of course, that won't make up for a guy that has 12 kg on him and is as hard as Valencia.

Yeah, Giggs is 72 and Hernandez is 62.

And Rooney is 19243161, actually.

He is properly massive. The secret footballer, who for those interested, we believe to be Dave Kitson, said that when Valencia blocked his clearance if felt like he was in a car crash. He's the worst type of winger to defend against. For all Nani's tricks and skills, you could usually do a decent job of sticking near him, but Valencia's faster and stronger than most full backs will be.

Anderson is a few inches shorter and, despite common opinion, is not fat

Of course he's not FAT.

But he looks buffed out, and has a much stockier frame than most.
Considering all the players will have a good amount of muscle mass, it's incredibly surprising to me that most players in the mid 170cm heights are in the low mid 60kgs, and the Ando is not at least 75 kg.

I mean, you'd hardly expect that Ando is 14 kg less than Rooney, who also isn't fat, and both are the same height (1.76m).

Ando looks just as stocky/wide as Rooney if not more (again not necessarily fat) but is more than 2 stone lighter and the same height. That means Rooney must have far far more muscle.

Where do you guys get your stats from? I've just looked on the ESPN site and their stats can't be true. They have Carrick with 1.83 m at 70 kilos and Fletcher with the same height at 85. :wenger:

Sent off in the start of added time (90' minutes) and later said the referee was a total clown.

"This referee is a clown," he said. "How come he didn't give us that penalty? We are in Uruguay, we are not in another planet.

"He did the same in the last World Cup qualification campaign. He's a disgrace. A total clown."

Ecuador went 1-0 up and then 1-1 against Uruguay. However, an Ecuadorian player rounded the goalkeeper (either at 1-0 or 1-1), and the GK then blatantly fouled him from behind - but this resulted in a yellow card to the attacker, and no penalty, so his anger is certainly justified, and personally I'd agree with calling the referee a lot worse than a clown, but he's a professional footballer so the expectations are different, no matter how bad the ref was (i.e. Drogba against Barca and 'Ovrebro') and I think he may get further disciplinary action against him. That doesn't disappoint me too much, as if he gets banned for a few games he'll be fit and ready to play for us, but I do also want him to be happy playing/seeing his country win, and no doubt he's tank enough to play his national matches too.

Well probably because he was speaking in his native tongue, I bet if he could speak English he'd be doing the same here! :D

Manchester United winger Ashley Young has spoken in glowing terms of team-mate Antonio Valencia, claiming that the Ecuadorian "has it all".

The 27-year-old, who arrived from Wigan in 2009, enjoyed arguably his best season at Old Trafford last term - winning the club's fans' and players' player of the year awards.

And Young has insisted Valencia fully deserved the accolades and hailed his professionalism as the reason for his success.

"Last season he had everything," he told the club's official website.

"He attacks, he defends, he can shoot, he can cross, he can pass... he has it all and that's why he scooped up everything at the end-of-season awards. It's why the players voted for him and it's why the fans voted for him.

"He's fantastic to play with. Antonio, like every other player, knows how to look after himself as well – he knows what to eat, what to drink and he works closely with our fitness coaches."

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson was also was full of praise for the wideman and backed him to further improve this season.

"Antonio is always very professional and a great human being. I'm very happy with him," he said.

"He’s one of those players who is constantly maturing. Without doubt, his best position is wide right – he’s fantastic there."

That sounds very Un-Valencia like.

makes you wonder how pathetic the ref must've been for someone like Valencia to say something like this. for the record I love it though (Valencia's comments) :D

Well I can think of a lot worse to say than clown. It's the same kind of "potty mouth" I'd imagine Park to say. "You're a clown bully!" It's all innocent.

Apparently went on a foul mouthed rant on twitter about Ecuadorian baggage officials. He claims they nicked his camera at the airport. He's not in the best of moods it seems.
