He's not been in good form at all this season, but do think there's a bit too much scorn flying in his direction at the moment on here! Not that he's going to log on and get all upset, but I can't bring myself to feel any ill feeling towards him. He's genuinely been such a class act and I'm sure he'll get back to form soon.
He's been poor to flatout amateur level dreadful this season. There's no way he should be starting for us at this point. Literally anyone could do a better job.

Terribly out of form, I suppose SAF is thinking the best thing to do is keep playing it until he gets back to his usual self.
Is it possible that playing a lot of football last season after his injury has caught up to him? It was a miracle comeback the way he didnt seem to lose anything and was able to play game after game. But maybe his body is feeling the effects now

If Nani didn't have his issues there is no chance Valencia would get a game on this form. There is absolute no point of Valencia these days. He doesn't even contribute defensively anymore.
I just hope Nani really is injured. If he's dropped because of his contract situation I'd be pissed

I don't care how lacking in confidence or fitness he may be, or how mercurial he can be on occasion. The inability to turn or pass with his left without spinning in a complete circle is nothing short of ridiculous for a professional footballer, surely?

It was encouraging when he knocked it down the line and showed his pace, it's clearly there but I don't think that was ever the issue. His problem is that when he's coming in at an angle and there isn't the space to go on the outside he seems incapable/unwilling to make a yard for himself and his movement running inside has been poor.
Might as well play Welbeck out wide and allow Young to go to the right.

Yeah, but he's always been like that, it's just that he was usually so good at getting the yard of space to ping a good cross in that it compensated for it.
Now, he can't get a yard of space or ping a good cross in at all, so he's completely useless on all levels.
It is quite staggering how a professional footballer can be so unbelievably one footed though, I'm pretty sure I could kick a ball better with my weaker foot than he can.
Even if he does, his performances are way below the level expected of a united player.
Perhaps he should become a semi professional instead?
It's only natural for most people to be predominantly one footed, but his job is to play football. ALL he has to do is train, and play, and eat occasionally. Spend an hour at the end of every session practising with his left. Every day. For months. Simples. Ronaldo used to do it obsessively. So did Beckham.
I get that he's not going to be amazing at crossing with his left, but the fact he has to spin around in a circle to play simple passes with the outside of his right is insane! As you say, it's a monumental waste of time.

He's not even trying to is the problem. I wouldn't be as annoyed if he was taking on the defender and losing the ball. It's his constant 'get the ball, trap it and then stand still doing absolutely nothing for ten seconds before passing it to whoever is nearest' that is annoying me.
I reckon he will play against Newcastle simply by default as we don't have any other wingers.

Giggs should start on the wing against Newcastle, with Young on the right. If Valencia starts I'll be quite pissed off.
He's been really poor but some of the harshest criticism is coming from people who are upset about Nani's situation. If Nani was playing well on the left side I don't think some people would be going so nuts about it.
