Antoine Griezmann

You'd get 6 good months then be lumbered with his astronomical wages for the remainder of his contract. We've seen this story before

Am I crazy for thinking getting him in (provided it's a short contract) would be good business? Can play in multiple positions, works hard, and is still great production wise. Yeah the wages would be high but I'd have 0 issue giving those Varane wages to someone like Griezmann who really fills a need in the squad and brings big game experience

Exactly, it should not be at all costs, but with a good arrengement or short one, why not. He is not 40 either. It's fecking Griezzmann

What need does he fill in the squad?

Exactly the profile we need to move away from - once a top player but now old and on exorbitant wages. If we have learned anything from Falcao, Schwinsteiger, Casemiro etc. this is a big no no.

Wonderful player on his day but that day is long gone.
What? He just had a great season. Obviously no one should offer him a 5 year deal but let’s not pretend as if he isn’t still great.

He's still a word class player, tbf.
Doesn't mean we still need to sign him though.

Close the thread Sir Jim says no Galacticos and no over 25’s this is never happening?
I think it is highly unlikely this happens, but we will obviously be linked, like we have been every time.

Always has been

I always saw him more like a second forward with lots of goals in him that sometimes drift into a "mediapunta" role or playmaker. In fact in this last WC he was extremely generous in his pressuring and defensive tasks, he was France best player till the final that left some sort of last bad taste after such a great CUP from him.

It's more the opposite. He has always acted as a playmaker that can also act as a second striker. In fact there is a story about it, when he joined Atletico after a few training sessions Simeone stopped everyone and allegedly berated him because he was too focused on trying to make other scores when Simeone wanted him to be more selfish. Valverde made a similar remark when he was Barcelona. And for France he has always been the primary playmaker and the one leading the press and defensive repositionings.

So INEOS gets rid of beth and elaine from the canteen to save some cash but then splurges on this guy.

Crazy

If we sell Bruno signing Griezmann on a short deal wouldn't be a bad idea.

I've just never cared for him. The only time I enjoyed watching him was at Real Sociedad, and that was due to his partnership with Carlos Vela more than anything.

Not Griezmann himself, but think we can use an experienced low cost 9 this summer to rotate with Hojlund who isn’t expecting 40 starts.

I'm not suprise, Cholo's Aleti wants to be direct as fvck, BTW you have to take in account that I've mostly saw him in Aleti and indeed for France he always looked like playing a more playmaker role.
Yet I always saw him like those that do that role in a more dinamic, less strategic/tactical ones, more direct, more dinamic, dribbling type, mostly due to his best traits and characteristics and even those suits a United playing fast in the break style too (like Aleti).

I get that United had some bad bizzness regarding 30 sthg players, but if he comes with a reasonable contract, I don't get how even JUST his composure on the ball and mere technical ability would not help the current team, or better said does not warrant at least a bet on him.
