Plus Di Marzio yesterday. The two most reliable transfer outlets out there.
Griezmann.
In fact i'd probably take Belotti ahead of Lukaku and use the rest of the money we would save to help build other areas of the squad.
Lukaku isn't a target man, he's absolutely shite in the air. Neither of them can pass, our attacking would look very impotent, especially against lower table teams with these 2 starting.
This. As I understand it Griezmann has a release clause and we (or anyone else) could trigger it by giving him the money to buy himself out of his contract. But the transfer ban means that if he leaves Atletico wouldn't be able to replace him until January at the earliest, and he might feel that he owes them enough to stay. It might also reflect badly on us and our relationship with Atletico if we poach a player when there's no chance of them getting a replacement. So it could be that all parties have agreed to wait and this is just PR.If plans have changed post Ibra injury, the timing of all of this is strange all the same journos who are reporting it have been saying for weeks it's happening.
It's not as if we only found out today that Zlatan will be missing most of next season, most likely the transfer ban being upheld changed Griezmann's mind or similar. This is just face saving PR guff.
Yes BBC has a higher standard, but they have had their fair share of calling transfers wrong. Even if it was a briefing from the club, it was a calculated move to generate buzz. Just look at these forums to see the noise it has created!
And I am not basing off any random ITK. I am looking at what Griezmann has said and done.
Yeah he is, against dross. He doesn't score against the top teams so how is that going to help in the Champions League?
I don't see why it's a problem until preseason. Admittedly if he still hasn't brought Mourinho's targets in when the rest of the squad have started playing, it starts to become a worry.Last summer is looking like a blip in an otherwise crap record under Woodward. We always seem so reactive in the transfer market, like we don't truly have a solid plan.
People want to mention it only being June 1st but we hear that every year and it generally rumbles on till the end, by which point the "calm down" crowd are going ballistic themselves
Bailly was announced on June 8th iirc, so still a week from now.Just one I think, Eric Bailly.
Mkhitaryan and Zlatan were signed beginning of July and Pogba early August I think.
But we didn't have a plan apparently...

If we're looking at Fabinho it looks like we're intending to play a 4-3-3, missing out on Griezmann is hardly the end of the world. Lukaku and Belotti would both be fantastic additions, no use sulking and throwing our toys out of the pram because they're not Griezmann.
So Griezmann asked to leave before the outcome only to withdraw it 3 days later because of the ban?
We've known all along that it's the buyout clause or bust

Probably an unpopular opinion but I'd prefer us getting Belotti or someone similar to getting Griezmann
I still think Mourinho is balls deep in for Mbappe, but convincing him is proving to be tough.
Di Marzio said before how he was besotted by him, I doubt that's changed. He's also a 9 like we need.
I'm sooooo sad, I'm so saaaaaaad ;(
Di Marzio is way more reputable than anyone on this forum and he says we want Morata more than Griezmann, so therefore, I think that deal might happen and Griezmann won't, sadly. This one just had to turn into a saga didn't it...
Just knew it was going to be the dead cert it has seemed for months.
Acquire Me remaining confident still gives me hope though.

Manchester United transfer playbook:
1/brief press about disinterest in player
2/create a buzz
3/?!?
4/profit
He's got a point though, the players that have been strongly linked so far are hugely underwhelming and not who we should be aiming for. Obviously, during the summer all this may be proven wrong but I have to admit I do worry about what the squad will look like coming the end of the window.

I think we need a player more clinical and able to finish chances, Belotti would offer that more IMO.Care to explain why? I've not seen a great sea of Belotti and the small amounts I have he's been average.
Here goes creaming over City...
You've never really watched him before have you? he's a 9. And he scored 20 goals in half a season, I'm sure 25 won't be a problemMbappe is not a number 9. He is just like Griezmann, a second striker, and he will not guarantee us 25+ goals a season.
In my opinion, we should go for Morata. Comparing to Lukaku, he's cheaper, better technically and faster. About Belotti, I'm really sceptical about him, and I don't like strikers from Italy. Add that on the top of the 100 million release clause.
