Anthony Martial | Sevilla loan watch

Literally cannot think of one club who would take him, we are lumbered with the idle swine.
We have to reduce the price and maybe partially cover his wages. The idea we will sell him for anything more than 40m has to go out of the window.

Sevilla pinned their very slim chance at winning La Liga on Martial. He didn't do his part, but neither did Sevilla. Being made as a singular scapegoat.

Tony is probably done at a top level as his body just hasn't recovered. Unfortunate for him and hope he can work his way back to fitness and see what he can do. Dembele for Barca has finally gotten some good form and fitness after a couple of years, so you never know, but not looking good.

Well have to loan him again and pay half his wages. We couldn't give him away on £250k a week what the feck were we thinking?

This is going to be one of the new teams hardest issues to solve…..

I can’t see him having the right mindset or motivation for the new manager. He has been abysmal out on loan, continually injured. Has massive wages. Looks so miserable all the time.

All been very quiet from his agent so far but don’t expect it to remain so.

I very much doubt any club would pay more than £15-£20 million for him.

There’s probably only 5-6 clubs in the world that could afford his wages and none of them will be interested. We are stuck with him unfortunately.

I don't understand the mentality of this guy. He seems to be yet another of our player with a rampant ego fed from god knows where.

If he want to ressurrect his career he needs to take a wage cut and take a permanent move somewhere. Go there with a fresh start, knuckle down and actual break into a sweat and actually feel tired when he comes off the field.

He's all mouth and no trousers. We do need to get him away though whatever it takes - damn sure he can be safely put in the toxic column

i would be amazed if we get any sort of fee for him.

We wouldnt be able to give him away at this point.

Nobody can afford his wages. We are likely stuck with him unless we somehow can move him on for a fee, but agree to continue paying a large part of his wages.

He was brilliant in 2020. But was never the same since that knee injury.

I had completely forgotten about him for real. Another guy who wasted his talent due to bad attitude but also injuries. Our only hope is he manages to stay fit and Erik can turn his career around because I just can't see anyone buying him.

I'm sure, somewhere in a parallel universe, there's a hard working, motivated world class version of Martial leading us to Champions League glory. Probably in the same universe where Boris Johnson is renowned for his honesty and fidelity.

Unfortunately, the one in this universe is muck and needs to go.

This guy is one of the biggest waste of talents I've ever seen. He should've been so much more. It's criminal (and baffling) how his career has just plummeted like it has. There's so much talent there but feck knows what went wrong in his head.

Brilliant isn't the word I'd use...but that's indicative of our low standards.
He was decent, for sure - our top scorer that year- - but not brilliant.

I'm just here to remind everyone that this clown has a Balo'n Dor clause in his contract.

There were some fans who loved this guy so much that they thought he would win the Ball on Dor.
Martial FC was a "thing". His fans were like zealots which I could never understand.
If he played for us in 1999, he wouldn't even have made the bench!

One of the most gifted and yet most mentally weak footballers ever.

I legit thought he will be as good as Hazard for us. Sadly he actually has the talent to be. I haven’t seen anyone in EPL finishing as coolly as him since Henry.

Come on Newcastle, you know you wanna.

If he can't be sold, then it'll be another loan spell I would guess. Doesn't seem a player ten Hag would like with that sulky attitude but you never know.

He has a horrible attitude and mentality.

Relying on guys like him is one of the reasons we're in the mess we are, 7 years here and still people talk about potential and if we can get the best out of him.

We will struggle hugely to get rid of him because of his huge wages, but it would be a massive boost if we managed it. He's a bad apple and I think we'd be better off with him gone.

“We’re not gonna buy him permanently”

Didn’t see that coming...

I think he will be loaned out again with us covering part of his wages to some Italian or French club.

I think there's a high chance he is part of the squad next season, and probably in the line up fairly regularly.

Reasons being:
1. Can't see anyone wanting to buy him, or loan him for an acceptable fee.
2. No Greenwood
3. No Cavani
4. Questions over whether Rashford can get back to producing acceptable performances.
5. The massive task we have of trying to bring in players, a task that doesn't always work out as you'd want. Even if we signed 1 striker we're 2 down on what we started this season with.
6. Ronaldo won't play every game, and could even leave!

Lets hope he reacts well if he is given another chance by ten Hag. Obviously he isn't good enough to take us forward but there's going to be a number of players like Martial who we just need to get a tune out of for a year or two until we sufficiently upgrade.

You see it across all sporting codes, massive "potential" talent that gets a big move, they never seek to hone their craft and build their skill and then they turn because "they made it" by getting to a big club, being the "first draft pick", getting a massive rookie contract.

Martial is either running down the contract and never playing again, we agree to pay some wages for a lower club or if this loser wants to play again, takes his own wage cut and we MASSIVELY reduce the transfer fee.

No real surprise they don't want him , don't think any serious team would.

Has talent that he shows in flashes now and again but never had the drive and desire to do anymore than that , has been a very disappointing signing for us considering the potential.

We end up with too many players on our books who don't have the mentality to succeed at the top level.

I've got a sneaking suspicion he'll be a decent contributor for us next season. I know I know, dejavu, but hear me out..

Cavani & Greenwood are gone, Rashford is in dire form and Ronaldo (if he's even here next season, could Real come calling ?) Can't continue to carry us the way he has at times this season. I expect we'll sign at least one attacker, but we need to make something out of our current supporting stable of: Rashford, Martial, Diallo, Pellestri, Sancho, Elanga.

Martial has undoubted talent, an absolutely stinking attitude, but if he's got two braincells to rub together he'll know that this is truly the last chance saloon for him at the top level. He's hit rock bottom (as have we hopefully) and has one last chance.

ETH on the otherhand has apparently been able to deal with difficult characters, and has revived the careers of some by the looks of it.

I predict he'll be used as a rotation option between LW/ST again, out of necessity, but will look much brighter in ETHs system and contribute a reasonable return.

We wasted so many years on him and Rashford for both to not be any better than they were when 19 years old.
As I said before I hated Jose here but his opinion on Martial and Pogba was correct

He was is such dire form that we could not even contemplate using him for long stretches. The result of that was not Martial knuckling down and trying to win a spot, it was chucking a tantrum and leaking that he wanted a move. He gets his move and does NOTHING. He's just the same old lazy Martial.

What makes you think he ever had two brain cells to rub together? He had his opportunity to prove himself and he decided to sulk and look completely uninterested.

I’ll rule him out based on Ten Hag’s ethics of unity, hard work and train hard. Guys been packing some extra weight for some time and he doesn’t want to be at United, he made that very obvious before he went out on loan, that he wanted a change of clubs as he’s been here too long. Let’s all hope Conte wants him and he finally gives Glaston his wish.

I think his legs are shot. There must have been some injury that was more serious than was reported in the past 18 months.
He seems to have lost a bit of pace esp the first few steps which he had in abundance when he first got here. I think he has tried to compensate by bulking up his upper body.
Now he just looks lumbering.

It’s not even like he is party animal or has a self combust personality like Balotelli. Just pure lazy and carefree. I mean how hard it can be to work like normal players especially when your career is going down the drain. You would think that at some point some amount of pride, self respect and some seriousness will kick in but no just no even if that means you tumble down from Manchester United to Mansfield town given the trajectory of your career is going.

£250,000 pw

Safe to say we’re not selling him this summer

we can if the transfer fee was like.....1 million pounds, or pay half his wage. If he is going to be one of these losers that starts briefing because Ten Hag has him playing 25 games in the reserves, we should be eating the loss to get him out.
