Give him a try on the left wing. I imagine our ball retention and possession stats would shoot up. With Antony on the right, and Hojlund leading the line.

As a sub of course. Or actually as a starter. If he somehow, magically, executes what EtH asks of his left winger in defensive transitions and pressing...
 
For those saying to play him on the left, do you really want Martial bursting a gut full pelt up and down the wing?

Anyways, even EtH must have been shocked at what he saw. We at least have the benefit of having watched him before it all went flat
 
Hoping for a performance tonight and an overall renaissance this season if we can. We certainly need another viable option to Hojlund, and Martial’s game is so so much more polished and our final third passing, decision making and composure is awful.

Ideally, Martial will start scoring and we can downgrade the emphasis on Hojlund a bit at least until next season.

Let's see where his head is at. Does he want to play second fiddle all season or fight for his place in the team.

Decent game. Worked hard off the ball and scored.
 
Wasn’t involved much but that’s a fantastic finish for the goal.
 
Was really good but can't be trusted sadly. He has always been exceptionally talented.
 
Hopefully stays fit for the season. We’re going to need him

Injuries and some bad luck along with that fecked his career. I think people forget how much of a monster he was in that 19/20 lockdown season. I thought he deserved our player of the year even though Bruno got it.

Think this rotational/sub role is perfect because you don't really have to rely on him at all but he has enough class and ability to make a difference in the games he's subbed on in.
 
Nothing has changed, we can’t rely on him because of his fitness, but we play our best football with him in the team.
 
Pretty good game. He even looks a bit faster and more agile than before. He might actually be in form with the cameo against Bayern and todays game... Hopefully he can stay fit for the season because having him as an option isnt a bad thing.
 
Do think he'll start on Saturday again with Hojlund again coming on in 2nd half.
 
Always like Martial in the #9. He is really good with his back to goal. My only complaint about him is he doesn't anticipate enough with runs in the box and he just can't stay healthy
 
Worked hard and a great finish. His ability to not panic and give and go to receive a ball is miles above any of our other forwards.
 
Nice finish for his goal. Defended well at a set-piece. Wasn't involved much.

Looks match-fit this past week and playing with a smile on his face. Hope this isn't yet another false dawn. His football intelligence is underrated.
 
If he can stay healthy and keep to a decent level of performance, would be a good enough alternate to Hojlund.

I still doubt he will be able to do either of those things.
 
Excellent finish. Should leave once his contract expires in the summer, but hopefully he can stay injury free and play his part before that.
 
Somewhat usefull today, when the game is slow and we play it into his feet, he's good. Pressed quite well too today. Only a matter of a game he gets injured again though. Should be a good squad palyer and his minutes managed.
