It's sad to say, but as I've said before, he is exactly what he has shown he is throughout his career. Talented, with flashes of that talent, but unable to consistently perform.
Plagued by injuries just knocks the confidence out of him. As you said flashes but not many I can remember. £5/10million I’d take him for him now. He’s 27, prime years and showing nothing but a busted tyre every couple of months after being pumped up again. I’ve been on team Martial for 8 years but watching him play the last few appearances has been far more annoying than Wout. Pulling out of the 50-50 properly wound me up as did him falling over after a good turn that left us 3 against 2.
At this point it's sad to see the abuse and vitriol thrown his way by United fans. To be fair I feel he had a below average performance yesterday (some of his usually immaculate touches were off), but it wasn't a horrible performance by any means. He still created chances, demonstrated decent hold up play and tried to cut off passing lanes.
I still think right now, he's the best CF option for us but that will probably change in the summer. The main problem yesterday was the (as he often displays) lack of desire to get in the box and score the ugly goals. Sort of like the anti-Cavani.
Guaranteed there will still be fans saying "give him one more season..." and continuing with the myth of "well, a fully fit Martial..." It's all nonsense.
Martial is perfect example of what is wrong with MU. Imagine Pep and how long he would've kept Martial. Six months? Maybe a year. Same with Fred.

He should have gone years ago. One of my biggest criticisms of him about five or so years ago was how poor he was off the ball. And he still hasn't improved in that aspect. His off-the-ball movement is pathetic. He really needs to go, ASAP.

The less this guy plays, the better he gets on here.
The more he plays the more people ask what he offers.
pretty much sums it up. Was he the worst one out there, nope. Overall was just ok. Def more than anything Wout could ever hope to provide. He was a bit shit yesterday, but he was still far more threatening than Wout. Help up the ball well at times, made a good link up with Fred to be played in a 1-on-1 with keeper (which he missed), he completed a couple of good dribbles beating players and opening space.
It's not much and I'm not saying he's done enough to deserve being here long term, but I don't expect him to go in the summer. Because no one will take him and signing 2 strikers instead of 1 will be very difficult. He might not be justifying his £250k pw salary but from a pure football perspective he's clearly still the better player to have in the team compared to Wout. I'd rather play anyone as a striker than the latter, including McTominay. Even Welbeck is clearly better.

If he stays next year it’ll be bordering on scandalous
If he doesn't start a game well he will basically be shite for the entirety of it. He's either on it or he's not.
It’ll be scandalous if we don’t move heaven and earth to get him out the door.It will be scandalous if he decides not to leave? There's no guarantee anyone will come in for him. He has a contract here until 2024. Wout doesn't.
He's going to get next season. We won't be able to sell him this summer. He'll run down his contract and leave on free without extension, just like Pogba.
We should have sold him a long time ago. Now we're stuck with him till his contract runs down.
It's also kinda unlucky that he sucked hard in that Sevilla loan. Could have helped us getting rid of him, but it just exposed him further unfortunately.
Just so long as this summer Ten Hag is not one of them.
I dont know what it is about players like Martial and Sancho that some people will relentlessly deluded themselves that all it takes is them being fit or having a run of games.
Like they're on the cusp of greatnessness despite putting in strings of 0/10 performances.

Think the injuries have had a massive impact on him. He looks way slower and way less agile. 19/20 he was quite good throughout. Constant injuries since then.Is he a better player now than when he joined us at 18-19 years of age?
Nope.

Any money we get back at this point (or don’t spend on his wages) would be a bonus
We need to buy two centre forwards in the summer. One starter, one backup.Pretty ridiculous opinion tbh, clouded by emotions.
We already have to sign a striker to replace Ronaldo, who Wout was merely covering from. That would make Martial a bench player again. We will not move heaven and earth to get a bench player out of the club. It simply isn’t that important. And especially for a player with feck all value in the market, due to being on his final year of contract and on ridiculous wages.
Even giving him away for free and “saving” £10m on his salary, it isn’t a saving as that would mean spending £50m+fee and salary on yet another striker, in the same window, to replace him. And our budget is finite so we’ll have other priorities to focus on instead of going spending it all on the striker position.
