No we didn't, we became a FAR more dynamic team when Cavani came on. Cavani shown more in 7 minutes than Martial shown in 60.
Haters galore!

That was more because of a change in tactics and also moving Rashford away from the striker position (since everything just broke down the instant it went near him) than it was Martial being taken off. He wasn't great or anything, but he was certainly better than Rashford and Bruno today. No we didn't, we became a FAR more dynamic team when Cavani came on. GET HELP!
He actually showed effort today which he perhaps sometimes doesn't. The quality just isn't there for him, perhaps same for rashford.
I actually think Cavani did well when he came on. Some good one touch passing, pressed and drew a foul.To be fair Cavani had very little impact, Greenwood didn’t touch the ball did he? Pogba who started the game came into it more when moved centrally, so more a change it tactics, than fresh legs for me.
There was one dribble in particular where he went past 3 players that was quite sensational.Yes and no. Yes, he puts in the effort, andworks back well, comes deep well (but perhaps too often, tactically) to get involved. Today I thought he was our best player at playing out of defense in the first half. He had some brilliant raids, held the ball well in midfield, combined well when he had the occasion. At the same time he misplaced a few passes in the final third of the kind he usually is good at, and failed to challenge when he could have dribbled in the box a couple of times. To me it seemslike his confidence is creeping back, edgeing a yard closer to the box for every game.
Some of those dribbles are really high class.
Martial gets paid £50K more than Harry Kane per week, and to be honest, he is not even half the player that Harry Kane is.

But people seem to be very much in one camp or the other a lot of the time which frustrates me.
I wasn’t referring to you apologies if it seemed that way.So which camp would I be in and if you don’t like differing opinions, why are on frequenting a forum for opinions?
He's getting shafted by Ole, there was no reason for him to come off yesterday before either Rashford or Bruno.
Why did he pass the ball to rashford when he was 1 on 1 with Trent, Trent gave him all the room in the world to whip it, it was perfectly set up for a right footer and he passes it, you can name all the great who have played for us , Ronaldo, beckham, cantona, RVN, RVP, none of them are passing it there, they are trying to bend it back post.
He's getting shafted? Ole gave him his number 9 back, put faith in him to start as a No 9. Backed him all of last season.
He still backs him, plays him in most games.
You do not have access to their fitness levels, neither do I but it was clear to see after the Burnley game he pulled up. Why risk a player when you know he isn't 100% fit?
You're probably right, I just feel the few times he was on the pitch with Cavani they looked to have some understanding and I would like to see them up together more often.
He did some good things yesterday and went on a couple of good runs. Completely understand his substitution though because he simply wants everything to feet. He has always been reluctant to stretch teams off the ball and in tight games especially, he is a lot easier to pin down than someone like Rashford. At times you need an out ball and Rashford is the only player who is willing to run off the ball and buy us some breathing space.
There was a moment in the game yesterday where Fernandes was in the box and looked like he could come inside and get a shot off, but chose to go on the outside instead and was easily snuffed out by Alexander-Arnold. I was frustrated with him as it seemed such a waste. However, Martial in the meantime was completely stationary, giving Fernandes no option off the ball and making life easy for their defenders. Funnily enough, minutes later the roles were reversed with Martial on the ball in a similar position to where Fernandes was previously. This time Fernandes was breaking his neck to run past him and give him a passing option. I think we may have won a corner due to this action. In the scheme of things two completely insignificant periods of play, however it's the small details at times that can make the difference. This is my problem with him. When we dont have the ball - which is often, Martial is invisible. This just cant happen at the elite level if we want to win trophies.
At very basic level my belief is that forward players need to be giving the centre half players a constant problem and make them choose options. I played centre half and I hated playing against players that were always on the move and unpredictable. You would never know where they were going to go and they made you choose between marking them or keeping your position - you will eventually make a mistake. Im not saying I was elite but the concept is the same. A player that just stays central and waits for a ball to feet is easier to defend against and if he is not moving constantly its easier to keep your position and shape.
Martial is a good player when he has the ball - his form will return and he will score again but he needs to be working off the ball. Effectively.
I would think you’re maybe right in that people that have a very limited view of football and how it should be played will just judge people on things like assists and goals. Not things like movement, passing, hold up play, vision, pressing and all the other things that go in to playing football and helping your team perform.Ultimately the lad will be judged on his goals and this season having only scored two its simply not good enough for united. Appreciate what people say his link up play, dribbles etc are of an ‘ok standard’ but we’re Man United ‘ok’ isn’t what the club is built on.

If you play with number 9 on your back then you can do feck all else but must score 20 goals and get a few assists. Nothing else matters.

If you consider things like that, still Martial falls short of what's needed for a ManUtd 9. Last season he was so good, shame he started so slow this season. Hopefully he will make it count in the second half of the season.
Finishing was one of his strongest attribute and even that's gone down this season, with all unnecessary extra touches, fluffing chances.
Movement, pressing my god I’ve seen statues move and press quicker than martial ffs.
See I don’t think many people understand pressing. They think it’s just run at someone. Hence you see a lot of people saying Martial is terrible at pressing. He’s one of the best in the team at it if you actually know what pressing is and how it’s done.
Saw a lot of people complaining after the City game his pressing was non existent yet he performed his role excellently and instructed others to get in position. Something he does a lot. Bruno is the free man in our press so he triggers the traps whilst others have taken up positions to block passing lanes to try and force a mistake or a long ball attempt. Martials position is to stop an easy ball straight through the middle.
If were going on yesterdays game, he wasnt striker. I thought his hold up was really good however and he linked well with Shaw when it came to him. (think it was west ham where everything bounced off him)He's not everyone's cup of tea, but that's another pretty non existent display. Starting to really grate on us true fans now.
He's not offering a lot as a striker right now. Hold up is poor, touch is off, confidence is gone, can't buy a goal.
All this and we have Cavani twiddling his thumbs on the bench.
I get Ole is putting faith in Martial and hoping he plays his way into confidence - but he's not showing any form of immediate improvement. Needs to be dropped ASAP
