Tomorrow hopefully will be the start of Martial's, season coming alive. As I mentioned earlier, not sure shifting him to the left is helping (of course I have no clue what goes on in training), I reckon he should be battling it out with Cavani. Cavani getting the nod for now as he's been the better player.
He had some battles on the left side with Rashford earlier in his career when they pushed each other, so there's little reason why he can't do that with Cavani.

Not been a year at all - later than this time last year he was banging in goals for fun. I take your point though, it's been a while.
Let's hope MMM can get some momentum going tomorrow. He and Rashford used to obviously look for each other, but this season they seem to be ignoring each other. Hope they get some cohesion going, we're going to need it!

I think you’re completely missing the point here. Martial started the season poorly. He has also in the past displayed good form for United. Is it really that strange to suggest that the torrent of racial abuse he has endured of late (probably sparked in some ways by said poor form), could potentially affect his motivation moving forward, and ability/desire to recover his form?

It’s a ridiculous thing to say to be honest. If @McGrathsipan had a friend or family member that was receiving racist abuse online, would he honestly turn round to them and say ‘you don’t have to read the paper or surf the web’? Of course they wouldn’t, because it would be an absurd response.

To be fair I used to rate him when I made this account. Not anymore he just doesn’t seem bothered in the slightest. We need an animal. Imagine us with Haaland. I’d sell both Rashford and Martial in a heartbeat for him. Proper player.Name checks out.

The way I read it at first was that he expects Martial to not to use the simple comforts we all enjoy because otherwise he's at fault for his drop in form (probably exacerbated by the abuse and death threats against him and his family), which for me comes across as victim blaming. I'm hoping I'm wrong because that seems pretty sick to me.

Footballers have been on the end of abuse for ever. They should ignore it. The should be given guidance and help to ignore it.
But I do think its a separate issue to Martials form. Its not going to help his mood now that's its happening thats obvious but his form in my opinion hasn't been good for alot longer than this abuse issue.
Agreed, I don't think the racism and abuse triggered this form at all. I think it compounds it certainly though.
I had quite a lot of racist and xenophobic abuse thrown at me through the years and to this day and honestly when it happens to me I couldn't give any amount of shits. But I do appreciate that it does affect different people differently and that it can really affect some people deeply and the onus shouldn't be on the victim to change their habits but rather to help the abusers change their behaviour and outlook.
I hope that Martial can turn it around because he's my favourite player and for me one of the most exciting players in the world to watch on form but I can see this ending in a very ugly manner if his form continues and I think the racism and abuse will only make it uglier.

To be fair mate that’s basically what I was saying. He has definitely been poor this season prior to the abuse, but I can’t see the current situation being conducive to him recovering his form.

Same, he kept the ball well enough but he was positioned far too deep, nor did I see any real desire to get in the box to get on the end of crosses, which was disappointing considering the stupidly high line they were using.
Say what you want about Martial but for me he’s still an absolute joy to watch at times. Silky smooth!
