No, you're right. The defending on the first goal is slack. Cavani and AWB are slow to get out for the second. Bruno squandered a couple good positions. It's just when you put Martial's performance in the context of his season so far it's hard to take.

I just feel like when you're on top like we were in those opening 20 mins of the second half, and you miss an open goal and another big chance shortly after, it can just drains thr team. He needs to be scoring, that's the difference between the 'nearly' teams and the the real top sides.
I agree with all that, mate. I'm a bit lenient on the first miss as I felt Bruno was in a much better position to shoot and that him opting to pass gave PSG enough time to get in the way, but I get why most aren't as lenient.

Yes he should have scored. I don't know what is wrong with him? Last season it was a sure goal

Classic knee jerk now. He's been shit to start the season. He was excellent last season. He's been a brilliant finisher for 4 years, but the last few months can't score to save his life. It's a bad run. Calm the feck down people. He'll get out of it and get back in good form. Saying you want him gone is hilarious as it is idiotic, he's a very good player who while he might not be an automatic pick as our striker, can certainly be part of the group of main 4 to rotate for the front 3. Rashford, Martial, Greenwood, Cavani, and then post Cavani possibly Haaland if we're lucky. He's capable of being brilliant, but right now is probably going through the worst period in his career.

Hoping he doesn't start making missed chances a habit of his because hes normally so good in front of goal. This season however, hes been seriously lacking. Had numerous chances for France, too. Needs to do better.

That being said, I thought he was fine on the ball. Played a beautiful pass to Bruno, who should have done a lot better.

I like the look of him and Rashy on the flanks so im hoping he can up his performances because when the two of them are firing, they are a handful.

I think he's been really poor this season.

Very disappointing, because I thought he would kick on after last season when he was brilliant post-lockdown.

He misses chances like this. Last season V Liverpool, prime example. Then, away from the chances, he offers nothing in the build up. Poor at holding the ball up, poor pressing, poor work ethic

I try my best to be supportive of United players but Martial is the one attacker of the 4 you mentioned who's probably not good enough to continue starting for United. Actually, I can't imagine him playing as CF or LWF for any of the top teams in Europe, except maybe in Tadic's CF role at Ajax where he'd be the main man.

We all want him to succeed but for me there are too many negatives that outweigh the positives. Not kneejerk, just a player I've never warmed to despite the best efforts of some of my friends.

I'm not really sure why Ole keeps starting a player clearly off of form.

The LW position we can literally fit every LW's there or even Pogba or VDB.

He needs to be dropped and play only in the league or FA Cup now until he picks that form because we have some depth.

He is a decent finisher but not an elite level. We can never win major trophies with him leading the line. He will do well in patches but when it really matters he will crumble in pressure.

Great footballer but an inconsistent forward just like rashford who has the advantage of being younger

His game tonight perfectly highlighted why I don't like this guy. 2 great chances both missed. He misses far too many sitters, is inconsistent in his game and can never be relied upon. Will never challenge for anything with him and Rashford being the two main men upfront that we have to rely on. Both of them waste far too many chances.
Just gonna quoute this post that was written nearly a month ago because you could literally think it was written after the game tonight. Tedious how many chances this guy wastes, sick and tired of it. Have you noticed the minute theres any competition for his spot he becomes absolutely useless? My opinion on Martial won't ever change he's not clinical enough to be relied on.

Yeah, we were really guilty of not making the right decisions tonight. Hopefully we can make up for it against RB Leipzig.

He's having a bad spell but statistically he's a good finisher. Better players have missed chances in big games.

I've enjoyed him whilst his here but now I'm feeling like he is taking the space of someone like Grealish, Sancho, Haaland, or Greenwood if one of these guys gets targeted and decide to come.

Really enjoyed him whilst he is here and have no hate towards him but he is reaching squad rotation level in a position we are quite filled in.

Yawn!!! Bebe was more exciting

It's hard to understand the problem. We know he has the talent, but translating that talent into scoring important goals in important matches has been a serious challenge for Tony. He's been at OT for 4 or 5 seasons now. How much longer must we wait for him to reach what we believe his potential to be?

I said tonight that he has often in the past felt to me like he's an Arsenal player.

Tonight was one of those nights

I am still not over that miss. Like he somehow Sterlinged it. It should have been a goal and he didn't even hit it on target. And the other chance, a player like RVP would have blasted the roof of the net. At high level games like the CL, you should take every chance you get. You knew as soon as he missed ,that PSG would always score at the other end.

This forum takes the mick out of Firmino. But Tony is doing the exact same thing as him. None of our young players seem to make a consistent progression, year in, year out.

So frustrating.

He has been off colour all season, but he seems to get worse and worse. Cavani has come in and shown how much he has to work on in terms of activity, and he seems not exactly to rise to the occasion. Maybe his confidence is just of a very vulnerable kind.

It's amazing how we've somehow made him a worse finisher than he was when he first arrived as a 19 year old.

His composure in front of goal has always been his strength quite honestly, the Sevilla game and the start to this season are not really typical of him when taking into account his full United career. He has been absolutely shocking though. What I don't understand is why our players seem to be immune from momentum. He scored against Leipzig and Istanbul to break his drought but he's not been able to build any confidence from it in the slightest - for any other team that would kickstart their season you'd think but not us.

He scored 23 goals last season whilst missing 12 games through injury and not being the penalty taker. Logically he can't be that bad a finisher, at least not this bad.

I get that, if he's not playing as a 9 he's best playing from the left (in general I think he's better from the left than as a 9, but that's another debate).

But with that said I think Rashford is better than him from that left position, and that Greenwood is better from the right than Rashford.

Right now he's horribly out of form and including him means shifting a better player to an out of position role while a player who's better in that position sits it out.

I feel dizzy thinking through the logic.

Give me a Chicharito to lead the line any day of the week.

Anthony is the same as Paul. Not hungry enough. And that resting bitch face. Feck that.

We had Eric. Maybe it's time to give it a rest with the french.

His confidence is rock bottom, a couple of goals and he'll improve.

However, that miss cost us the game. If we went 2-1 up we could have ended up winning 3-1.

His all round play was ok but he's gotta take at least one of those chances, the first one in particular.

The second one as well - he has half the goal empty to shoot at if he looks up, yet shoots it blindly towards his left were the keeper and defender is heaped. The mark of an overheated or nervous player lacking in confidence. The Martial of July would have had a hat trick today.

Awful attitude, awful body language, awful performances all too often. Ok he plays well sometimes, so did Charlie Adam.

The day he leaves, which is hopefully soon, is the day we can start playing and relying upon a more potent and consistent front 3.

Continental Danny Welbeck and nothing more.

Not a player you want the be at the end of chances in games that matter. Which is weird because he's supposed to be our goalscoring machine.

True. At this point, I don't think he is the striker that we need to get us 25 goals per season. If he keeps on missing sitters like that, it won't help.
