I am a big fan but It is time to realise that he is just not good enough. He has flattered to decieve and so are many of our players.
None of them deserve the contract they are sitting on fromthe manager top down. Liverpool are paying far less to players that are infinitely delivering more than our players. Enough is enough, time to let go.

This is b.s and that's why for now I am in the "it's not the forwards fault camp" no way. When you can't point to atleast 1 person playing behind our forward line who can get even 5 assists for the league season then you can't fault the forwards. How many do you think the likes of Mane would get without the Liverpool fullbacks. Sterling could join us and make all his fancy runs but it would be useless if mctominay and Andreas can barely complete a forward pass. Lukaku probably can't believe the amount of chances being created for him at inter as compared to United

Can we just finally get rid of him and buy someone whose perfomance don't depend on mood, wind scale etc? He would be kicked out in other top club long time ago. He puts his family, private life, joyment and whatever he likes above his own perfomances on the pitch. Telling nothing that he's injured most of the seasons.

He's really only played as the main striker once before, and that was early on in his first season. Since then he's been used on the wing (and even then he was twice taken out of the team at a time when he was one of our best players).

If he can stay fit and is played up top I would expect to see him reach 20-30 goals.

Crazy to expect someone who has never been close to those numbers, reach them. Nothing suggest he will ever reach them numbers unless he suddenly develops like crazy. If he was such a good striker he would've taken Girouds place in the french team, but his hold up play is not good enough to be a striker. He's best as a left winger imo.

It's like some people don't even watch our games. Go watch the Norwich game and the first 10-15 mins of the Bournemouth game and you will what it looks like when our midfielders can actually get the ball to him

The only year he got consistent gametime he scored 17 when he was a 19 year old when he first came to England. Every season since then under Mourinho he was marginalised and messed around. It's not that crazy to expect him to reach and exceed those first season figures if he's installed again as first choice. He's only started six games so far this season and he's already scored four goals. Admittedly I'd expect him to be in the lower part of the range I gave (20-30) with our current misfiring team, but something like 23 would certainly be doable.

As for his hold-up play, it's something he is surprisingly good at. Obviously not as good as Giroud (he's one of the best around), but he's still quite good at it. Absolutely miles better than the likes of Rashford and Lukaku.

17 in all comp, yes. 2 of them where in league cup and 3 in EL.

And he wasnt marginalised by Mourinho, he was a very talented youngster who had alot to learn ( and still do ) he played alot under Mourinho for his age and level. He hasnt really shocked the world with brilliant football has he?

He is so overrated by united-fans its surreal. No doubt he is talented, but he is far from a finished product. A lot of mistakes in his play and he often slows down attacks.

But than being said, he aint getting alot of help by either fullbacks or midfield players either. But could we have a better player? Sure

Agreed. I'd actually say as a striker his hold up play is one of the best in the league. Rarely do defenders get the ball off him with his back to goal.

You was frustrated at Full time. He was through multiple times but our players refused to play forward pass.

Very good goal and all-round play. He'll be inconsistent as he's young, but the moments of magic are worth it.

Fantastic goal and his hold up play was good. I think later in the game he was either tired or players weren't close to him at all. Also some of the passes to him was awful. With Rashford, he plays at different level.

Hope he continues his form against Brighton. Our attack transforms when he is in form. Can’t believe he was played wide for so long under Jose, a different player when playing centrally.

He was frustrated in the second half and rightly so. Made countless runs and our creators wouldnt pick him out or release the ball quickly. Its very aggravating when you're trying all game. We need to strengthen in January. I think we should loan Ozil for 6 months. He would fit perfectly in this current setup.

What? How’s he young? He’ll be 24 in less than a month so he should be at his peak now. Excuses like that absolutely no longer cut it with him.

Brilliant goal tonight, he showed great skill and determination for the goal. We need this on a regular basis now though.

Our choices after our starting 11 in attack have a big drop in quality. Either they are too young and just getting used to this level, or useless crap like Mata or Lingard.

Basically, we need our front 3 to stay injury free and keep firing, or we are in trouble.

I'd say 26/7 to 28/9 is peak years for forwards. I think his peak is still to come, especially when taking into account he hasn't played as a striker in years.

Some of his passing today was  that ball for Mata before the Cruyff turn. The one to put Rashford in. Hold up play was great and loved seeing him direct traffic and talking to Greenwood.

The Goal, the touch on his left to take it away from the final defender was sublime and then the finish. The whole thing was beautiful but that touch.

2nd half, looked frustrated. Constantly running in to space and just not getting service. We couldn’t get him involved and it really showed in the team performance. Liked that he was telling Perreria off for a lame pass at the end of the game.

Footballers are rarely at their peak at 24, at the exception of truly exceptional players the majority are still inconsistent and finding their game when they are 25.

While I agree 24 is the age he should be performing week in week out if he going to be a striker for a team aiming for the top. He has one of the best performers this season needs to continue

The things Ole had to say about his personality gives the impression he's quite misunderstood by the public eye. If we can keep him fit and put a decent midfield and #10 behind him I think he could actually become as good as Kane (although obviously a very different player).

It's a process and not all players are the same, there isn't a switch that is triggered at 24.

True but if he turns 25/26 and he isn’t performing on a weekly basis you have to then look at is he good enough. This season has been great hope he keeps it up as he made a huge difference

Well he isn't 26 and I responded to a post suggesting that he should be at his peak at 24 which is almost never true.

His movement as a striker is much better now than it used to be and Ole deserves his share of credit for it.

I know. What I was pointing out is at 24 he should be performing week in week out and is no longer considered young anymore. I do agree 24 isn’t peak age but he is getting close and we have him as our main striker so he needs to be hitting 20-25 a season minimum in all comps or we are going nowhere

Didn’t see the game tonight but he was really bright early on on Saturday. I thought the problem was Pereira being behind the front players and the midfield in general being really poor. There was very little service to him and it got worse as the game went on. Playing upfront in a properly coached and set up team he’d be banging them in every game and the occasional off game wouldn’t really matter.

This place is weird. If Martial put in excellent performances for the next 5 games and has a mediocre 6th game this place will be full of detractors crawling out of woodwork and telling everyone how he's shit and needs binning.

Our lack of creative midfield is affecting our attackers very badly. People like going on about consistency and all that but don't stop and think for a second why is that. One look at out midfield especially w/o Pogba and there are no striker in the world that would be banging consistently.

Put Kane or any Caf flavor of the month in front of a mediocre midfield and they'd struggle to consistently deliver.

This picture.

2 defenders on the deck a goal keeper on the deck and Martial running away to celebrate as they are all still looking at the ball. Looks like a Mark Hunt walk off.

This reminds me of that great solo run goal against Fulham last year and the look Martial made after scoring that goal.

Now that I think about it, Martial has some of the best United goals ever.

The thing about Martial for me is that simply the guy is good enough to be part of a United squad.

Whatever wages he may be on I don't really care. Even if we one day have a goal scorer who is more consistent than him in the first team - I see no problem with him being part of our squad because he is simply never an easy player to play against.

That's the reason I back him when people point fingers at him. Is he the best CF we could have? No. But is he a good enough CF to be in a bunch of 4 strikers to rotate like the sheringhams, yorkes, Oles & coles - I think so. Add one more striker in there and let everyone fight for their spot & we are all good.

0.55 goal ratio so far this season, 5 in 9. His best so far including his first united season. Already scored 40% of what he managed last year.

Some days Martial is Messi and Rashford is Ronaldo. Other days, they play more like Agbonlahor and Defoe. Somewhere in between is fine I guess, but lets hope they develop nicely these next two years. Two very good players we have currently, but we need them to get even better.
