I saw someone comparing him to Berbatov and someone else replied implying that’s an insult to Berbatov.

Martial has more goals and assists for United than Berbatov.
I saw that post and was just shaking my head

He played well today. Our forwards bullied their defenders when we got the ball forward. With better decision making and the ref not being a twat we might have scored 3 or 4.

He's the most technically skilled forward we have at the club. His ability in confined spaces is far superior to anyone else in comparison. It's also good to see that he's built up a bromance with Bruno and their understanding was crucial for the opening goal.

I'm not sure which is missing but here are the 5:
1 at home to Crystal Palace (PL)
2 at home to Brighton (PL)
1 at home to Wolves (FA Cup)
1 away to Tranmere (FA Cup)

Thanks. There was an assist missing in the Brighton game.

Best game ever in a United shirt imo

Easy to look unplayable against an Everton for example but completely different demands to play like that today

He's having a great season, yet people continue to spew nonsense about him. He's been key to our attack all season, whilst we've been starved of creativity during most of it. During the time he was mainly involved with creating when Rashford was scoring, the criticism was that he doesn't score or that his goals are not #9 type goals. When he starts literally putting the team on his back with CF type goal after another, the supposed critics switch to saying he doesn't hold up the ball or get involved like a proper #9. Madness.

If there was room to actually critique Martial as player, it would happen under near unanimous appreciation that he's been our player of the season. I'm not holding my breadth though, just enjoying the maturity of his game.

He's scored both home and away against City and Chelsea and the first player to do so against City since Ronaldo

Martial always willing to bleed for the badge even though he was injured. Hope he recovers from these injuries.

He really gets a bum deal from a lot of our fans. He's an exceptional player who can and will improve.

Against Everton he obviously wasn't 100% fit but he still somehow managed to play the entire game. Despite that the abuse he got was crazy to read. This place is quite ridiculous a times if not most of the time.

Yes he does. I’m one of them but he gave so much more today. I actually voted him MOTM. Chasing down the keeper was great to see, I nearly had to double take it was actually Martial

If he performed with the commitment he showed today more often he would get a lot less flack.

I actually think he’s had better games for us but there was more commitment to his game today.

His pressing was great today, and even put in a shift down the wing in defence when needed. Too bad he didn't spot Fernandes for the cut-back in the first half, but overall this is pretty close to the best I've seen him.

Fully expect him to level up more once his mate Pogba gets back.

He's developed such a great understanding with Bruno, I can't wait to see what he looks like with both him and Pogba in midfield on the same wavelength

This is what we've all been saying though. If he plays in a competent team, as he did today, he will go up a notch. We can't expect him to be putting in consistent world class performances when the rest of the team is turning in mid table performances.

I would also have to say that Martial has worked much harder this season, his pressing and willingness to run has been severely underrated.

Luckily wasn’t on the match day thread but anyone who can’t acknowledge he was deservedly man of the match today I have no time for, obviously they know nothing about football.

Goal aside, those defensive headers he made early were impressive, put his head where it could hurt for one of them. He looked strong and aggressive today and rag dolled Fernandinho at times and was unlucky on occasion when a foul was given against him. There were touches today when he was taking the ball out of the air that had me sit up in my seat. Sublime.

I know a lot of people criticise his work rate, again probably not aware of how good he actually is at pressing picks up great positions blocking off passing lanes and he is actually pretty good at organising people for the press. You can see him constantly talking to James trying to help him through telling him where to be and stuff.

fantastic performance and a good finish.

The one thing he did wrong was he should have squared it to Bruno.

Honestly, how disgraceful some of our fans are?
The amount of hate he gets is ridiculous. Seems like people found a new scapegoat. When in the reality he made a progress in his game and super important for us going forward.
He can be upgraded, yes, but EVERYONE can be. Inc Rash, Maguire etc.

Bruno. I said last week that it will be interesting to see the effect Bruno has on him.

It was also good to see Bruno chatting away to Martial after they’d been taken off. Martial laughing at Bruno was good to see.

Sensational today. There were 2 or 3 times where his first touch to take the ball down from lofted passes had my jaw on that ground.

He is immensely talented and the type of player we have to keep. I can’t wait to see Rashford him and Bruno together and if we can upgrade the right side we could be the real deal next season.

Got the important first goal. Several excellent defensive headers after short corners. Shot straight at Ederson in the first half. Slightly too slow to reach Zinchenko's poor back pass and similarly, not far off scoring when Ederson got himself in trouble.

His every single goal is a big slap in the face & a big “feck you” to his haters(just in the right time as well).

I normally wouldn’t use that word “hater” for a player’s critics but he, for some ridiculous reason, really has some brainless haters(like Nani, Fred etc. had) who don’t deserve him. Other than the pass he should’ve given to Bruno, he played the perfect game but before his goal the usual hate was there in full force.

I said it a couple of times since the summer and will say it again; the best piece of business Ole has done since becoming Man United manager is selling that fat joker to Inter and making Martial his new no 9. So credit to both Anthony & Ole and a couple of words to the haters: He’s United’s no 9 for the foreseeable future. Feckin Deal With It!

I just can't understand why people don't like him. Genuinely an absolute beast of player, i'd love to know if any of the people who dislike Martial were fans of Lukaku because hes streets ahead of that Donkey.

Goal for those who like that in a striker.
Pressing and defensive contribution for those who look out for putting in a shift.
A clap and a smile for the body language experts.

A hat trick today really.

Today was Martial in full flow. Had two filthy touches in the first half to kill the long pass. The second one was Bergkamp-esque

I'd say so. One moment in the second half I saw him absolutely bullying their defenders I thought I didn't know he has it in him. A proper number 9 performance.

Honestly he’s been good for a while now.
I’ve criticised him in the past but overall he’s having a really solid season.
He got a bit of luck with his goal but the move itself was delightful.
It will be interesting to see how many goals he finishes the season with, 20 in all comps would be brilliant, I’m not sure how far off that he is at the moment.

4 more for 20. Still a lot of football to be played though, he should be coming out with closer to 25 I think.

Yeah, perfectly summed up. I’ve been a big critic of AM’s but he gave me everything I want from a striker today.

Aguero looking at his younger self in Martial. Both wear short sleeves with gloves. Both fabulous CFs who are deceptively strong and can do something out of nothing.
Aguero is probably at home right now penning a letter to Martial asking if they can go to the prom together since they both like to wear short sleeves and gloves. Seriously, you lot go on about the "unfair abuse" he gets but you're comparing him to Aguero.

Hell yeah I am! Martial's mint.

We know he's got this pace and dribbling but Ole has gotten him to add some graft and industry to his game. Physically bullied Fernandinho multiple times and had a class defensive header when defending a corner.

Hes always been my favourite player since the Fergie era. Hes our best finisher and technical striker. With even better service I think he can flourish more. Let's not forget hes missed his buddies pogba and rashford all season which he has a great understanding on the pitch. I'm happy for him. Finish the season well now.

Hi Joel. Please make sure you back Ole fully this summer, we need a world class right winger. Cheers

Today he was really good with his physicality in particular. He took his goal well and worked that left channel really nicely. I think he should start alongside Ighalo rather than James as there's better opportunity to link up.
