They got their Anthony's mixed up?
Based on? Werner had a much higher ceiling and was crap for them.
We need clinical forwards and we are signing a guy who has 4 premier League goals in over 50 appearances. He does look good but you can't blame us by being underwhelmed by the signing.Don’t be too sad. Just hope that the side of the coin that is flipped is the right one. He’s 50/50 right now. Could become a phenomenal player or a very average one.
Yeah this is what I find odd about this signing. His effort and all round game are both decent, but he's not a goalscorer. Which is a criticism you could level at near enough every Chelsea forward at the moment. We need clinical forwards and we are signing a guy who has 4 premier League goals in over 50 appearances. He does look good but you can't blame us by being underwhelmed by the signing.
I agree. If he didn’t play for Everton I’d also be thinking wtf. I’m still thinking it as an Everton fan but I can see the potential he has too. It’s a big risk though. We need clinical forwards and we are signing a guy who has 4 premier League goals in over 50 appearances. Not many Evertonians feel the same from what I can gather. My older brother, god help him, is a fanatical Evertonian, and he can’t understand the interest from Chelsea. Having watched quite a few games with him, I tend to agree and the Anthony Gordon thread over at Grand Old Team would suggest the majority of fans were stunned Everton turned down £40m. He has some great attributes like you mentioned, work rate and pace but decision making, vision, crossing, finishing all leave a lot to be desired. I think it’s a lot like Elanga (he’s better than Elanga) or Rashford here, if he wasn’t homegrown and an academy kid, the press wouldn’t rate him so highly.By watching him every week. He has all the attributes to be a top player. Tenacity, high pressing, work rate, pace, skilful etc. The major deficiency in his game currently is his output (G + A), he should be getting far more. For some players it clicks one day, for others it never does. Hence why I say he can become a phenomenal player or an average one. He has to start converting or it won’t happen for him.

Or, and bare with me here, I could be completely wrong and not know what the feck I’m talking about.
60m is mental.
He’s a decent young player but that’s it. At that price he has to start too.
Gordon - Sterling - Havertz doesn’t have enough goals in it.
Is he being considered an attacking option for Chelsea? Maybe an attacking wing back given his lack of ability in the final third and his best assets are his pace, dribbling, and pressing intensity?
I think the attributes he does excel in, work rate etc are all mental based, highlighting he has a fantastic attitude. The worry is the things he needs to work on, (decision making, vision, crossing, passing, finishing) they are a lot more difficult to improve on, and improvements are usual minor in comparison to the massive amount of time invested.Because a lot of them are talking purely from what 60m means NOW. He’s not worth 60m now at all, he could get to that level but it’s not clear. He has as much chance of becoming a 20m player as he does a 60m player right now. He has excellent attribute and he also has poor ones that are the difference between being a top player and an average one. People are happy to take 40m now because he’s still in that mid zone where he is purely potential right now which is why he’s excellent in some games and subpar in others or you leave wanting more from him.
I try to be as balanced as I can with my views.

The easy part of improving in any sport is getting fitter, stronger, working harder and having a better attitude, making improvements in skill set and improving intelligence/vision at an elite level is very difficult and not as common as people think.
So while I agree with what you are saying, I think it’s much, much more likely he remains an average player than he kicks on into the elite level. Either way, Chelsea are stacked in players like him, I can not understand what they are doing. Everton should try get Pulisic or Hudson-Odoi on loan as part of the deal. Hopefully ye get plenty good players in before the window closes. One of the original big clubs, I’d hate to see Everton go down.

I don’t want any players as part of a deal. I want pure cash. That helps in terms of FFP, swap deals don’t. Plus I don’t want more players coming from big clubs that don’t have the attitude of wanting to keep going up. We have taken too many players on a negative trajectory rather than a positive one and it has an impact - see Dele.
I don’t disagree with your statements but my posts in this thread have always been quite balanced towards AG. He’s currently an average player with top potential. It’s up to him to convert that into quality or not. He has an equal chance of doing both but he needs to take that step up by himself as much as coaching.
Conor Gallagher is the type you desperately need. I think getting him on a season loan + Broja would be a good deal personally considering the mess your current 11 looks like as that's not winning many games in the premier league.
Hence why I said on loan, get the cash in but get players in on loan. Not output on them. And anyone could have told Lampard signing Dele was a ridiculous idea.I don’t want any players as part of a deal. I want pure cash. That helps in terms of FFP, swap deals don’t. It’s a weird one. Chelsea’s attackers don’t score much at all but I think a big part of that is the lack of proper service they get. Maybe the thought process is Gordon is a little bit more of a player who can create things for himself? Either way, it’s a super expensive risk to take.Maybe but Reece James is arguably the best in the country at that and Cucerella can play on the right can't he?
Not sure why Tuchel is so obsessed with playing Reece James central.
Gordon has potential but he isn't ready to play for a top 6 team yet. Also strange timing, Everton can't win, can't score and they're selling another forward without seemingly a replacement lined up before Brentford away.
He’s young and English, look at what the likes of AWB went for and he was a fullback. Gordon’s an attacker, young and English, so he’s going to go for a massive premium.60m is mental.

I’m not even sure what position he plays. Is he a centre mid or a winger? Where on the pitch are Chelsea gonna play him?
He isn’t tbh. We need a DM and a forward. Gallagher is neither of them.
Apprently Tuchel wants him for LWBI’m not even sure what position he plays. Is he a centre mid or a winger? Where on the pitch are Chelsea gonna play him?
Haha, as an Ajax fan i hope Chelsea come up with a bid to take Antony today. But i rather see him at Man united to follow Martinez, Eriksen, Malacia and Antony in one team. Happy they all had a good game yesterday. They got their Anthony's mixed up?
Who's playing as number 10 to run into the box Cahill style? I thought Iwobi might get a run in that position but seems Lampard would rather play him deep in midfield to get the ball moving. Given up on Dele so he's not the answer.
When you have a forward line so short of goals as at present dosen't half help if a midfielder is capable of 8-10 goals and he showed he could do that at Palace last year.
I thought Gana had all but signed, has that fallen through now?
Apprently Tuchel wants him for LWB
Cucurella is playing in a back 3 most of the time. It's only what i've read, who knows at this point. They don't really use wingers though at Chelsea. They've just dropped 60m on Cucerella to play there? And also Chilwell is still around.
Iwobi would be the CAM with Onana and a DM alongside them. Iwobi has been playing on that role because we don’t have enough fit CM options. Allan, Gomes, Davies, Doucoure and Onana have all been injured or not match fit in our 3 games so far so Iwobi has been the only player available to consistently play in CM.
Personally I think our best lineup would be:
—————————Pickford——————————
———-—Mina——-Coady———Tark—————
Patterson——Onana——DM———Mykolenko
———————————Iwobi——————————
—————————DCL——CF/ST———————
Id happily let Gordon go to bring in two new players on perms (DM and ST) and a ST on loan.
You should sign Morelos
Ideal Richarlison replacement
I hear there's an Austrian full international striker available for roughly that price. PL experience and model pro too. Great character apparentlyHonestly if it was based on purely his ability for 10ish million it wouldn’t be too bad but his temperament is awful and not worth it.
They need a goal scorer so they go out and sign someone who scored 4 goals with 3 of them from deflections.. for 60m
