I really like Elanga but WTF are you talking about when you say that he has proven you wrong when he has had nowhere near the same impact that Adnan had when he came into the first team and Adnan played the whole season.I was never quite sure with him. I've been skeptical of some united youngsters over the years and I've (mostly) been right.
I never thought Januzaj, Wilson, Macheda, Blackett, Cleverley, TFM or Pereira were good enough when everyone was raving about them in the reserves.
I had the same feeling with Elanga but boy has he proved me wrong. The only ones I've been convinced by are Rashford and a certain bradford "man" - so shows what I know.
RE Rashford while I'm here -I still reckon there's a quality player in there but this season has been horrific. I think it was the pen miss in the euros personally, which you could argue shows something about his mentality...
Anyway back to Elanga. He's a real bright spark atm along with Sancho. Long may it continue

Poor finish aside, did great again, brilliant energy and is clearly following the instruction of the manager. No idea what his ceiling is or if he'll have a long term career at the club, but for now, he's one of the brighter aspects of this season and Ralf's arrival.
He was a real breath of fresh air yesterday. So positive and dangerous. Should be one of the first names on the team sheet while his form lasts.

His general play yesterday was the best I’ve seen from him all season. Looked truly comfortable playing at senior level for the first time.
Do you regard some Cameroonian news site more trustworthy than Elanga himself? Considering he said last year that both him and his father wants him to play for Sweden.
This has nothing to do with me blindly trusting the source or not considering what Elanga has said in the past. The Cameroon national team are indeed attempting to get him to switch and that has no bearing on what the player said last year. It's his and his family's choice that matters in the end.
Isak, Kulusevski and Elanga sounds pretty strong for Sweden looking ahead a few years

Watching Elanga come along is fantastic to watch. For me, it's a similar thrill when I think back to Rashford, Greenwood, McTominay come along the past few years.
Certain moments in games he's just electric ... catches defenders off with this turn of pace. Hope he keeps building on this impressive start.

Add Jesper Karlsson to that as well who is tearing it up in the Eredivisie and the future looks real bright atleast offensively.

10 years ago he just smacks that upfield. Which today, with Pogba up top, is something I thought we'd do more of.

I like Elanga. He’s been a breath of fresh air and he’s had a few highlight moments which is stuff of dreams. However, it’s abundantly clear that he’s not an exceptional talent at his age. Those of you that expect big things from him should water down your expectations. Anything you see, just take it like that.

For me he looked a different level of class yesterday playing vs City.
The chipped pass that led to the goal. The constant bad touches and losing the ball. Getting put through on goal and not taking a shot on at the right time/tripping over the ball.

I don't think he was the worst player on the pitch yesterday, but I don't think he's anything special. Hope he proves me wrong, at least he gives it his all.
There was easily 5 worseI think he won the ball 6 times, was very good at working hard for the team and set the tone for a more proactive attack in the first half. He didn't have the best game on the ball but also he wasn't any worse than anyone else. So when you add it all up, I don't think you can say he was the worst player on the pitch at all.
This is how I personally saw it -
We played Bruno as a false 9 which means that our main penetrative forwards are going to have to be Sancho and Elanga.
I was not seeing any sort of good attacking play, positioning, first touch, control or movement coming from Elanga (unlike Sancho)- it was obvious that Elanga was going to have to come off for Rashford to give a more penetrative attack because again Bruno was our false 9 and the inverted forwards needed to be better.
You don't play false 9's and have inverted forwards chasing all over the pitch and tracking back as their main issue - it basically kills off your own teams attacking ability.
Then under no surprise Rangnick brings on Rashford for Elanga but he completely kills of any sort of creativity we had by replacing Pogba with Lingard aswell. We didn't have Ronaldo, Cavani, Greenwood, benched Rashford - our clinical ability as forwards playing with a false 9 was going to be exceptionally low.
What was the only chance we had? To be exceptionally creative which we saw from players like Bruno, Pogba, Sancho for the first goal we scored with some nice passing. Rangnick messed our creativity up by taking off Pogba (the player playing in Bruno's normal role whilst Bruno played False9) and bringing on Lingard instead.
Pogba was very much finished long before he was pulled off, and a defensive liability, so I get that switch, regardless if it didn’t really achieve anything.
First half, I think it was easy to see that what Elanga contributed with pressing and defensive play was something Rashford is incapable of. Our play was quite good until their second goal (an Elanga miss, unfortunately), and Elanga’s passing was also quite crisp in that periid of the game. I felt he dropped a notch offensively after his mistake led to 2-1.
We know Ole would have played this differently, in previous seasons, and probably have done a lot better. We’d have a low block with three players going for the counter. Rashford would have played in that scenario, I’m quite sure. This season, we played differently even under Ole, more proactive in a mid block, with periods of high press - but it didn’t work at all.
It will take time to get these players to play that kond of football at the highest level. Solskjær knew what he was doing when he had us play mid-to low block with counters against the best teams, which was evidenced by the results. If we want to transition to a more proactive kind of style, it is bound to A) take time and B) at times get really ugly against the best opponents.

Should start. He got much to learn, but Rashford is much worse right now.
I am a massive Rashford fan, but right now I agree with you, Elanga seems fearless, should start the next few games.

Lively. Got some tools, but i'm not sure if he's got enough talent to put up the type of production you need to occupy a starting role in the front 3.

Definitely doesnt have the talent to be a starter. Think hed be a decent backup option, alternatively if we were to sell him I wouldn't complain. He is unfortunately a less talented version of rashford. He does have better heading and a better left foot, but is not as quick and is a worse dribbler who really needs space like Rashford to be effective.

It’s totally ruined our season IMO. Ralf has played 20 games and lost 3, the last two coming very recently. We’ve drawn way too many games, too many times we’ve been in situations with one goal in it and dropped key points. Burnley, Watford, Villa and probably some I can’t think of where we have lacked the firepower. We should have really closed on Chelsea while they were at the World Cup but kept drawing. I’m confident we’d have at least 4 more points with Mase, which would make all the difference.
Total agreement. We've had a revolving door of players trying to make up for him missing. Such a waste of talent
