I was never quite sure with him. I've been skeptical of some united youngsters over the years and I've (mostly) been right.
I never thought Januzaj, Wilson, Macheda, Blackett, Cleverley, TFM or Pereira were good enough when everyone was raving about them in the reserves.

I had the same feeling with Elanga but boy has he proved me wrong. The only ones I've been convinced by are Rashford and a certain bradford "man" - so shows what I know .

RE Rashford while I'm here -I still reckon there's a quality player in there but this season has been horrific. I think it was the pen miss in the euros personally, which you could argue shows something about his mentality...

Anyway back to Elanga. He's a real bright spark atm along with Sancho. Long may it continue

Love his acceleration with the ball. Great to watch it. Certainly deserves to be in the starting 11 more than Rashford atm..

Looked good on the right, showed a threat in behind, taking his defender to the line, and also coming inside and through interplay. Some really good footwork and acceleration from tight spots with the ball.

He is smart, good close control, like I said compared to Rashford,he knows he strength and uses it appropriately, showing more more attributes every game, I hope he isn't infected with the united bug.

Elanga won't set the world alight the way some players who came through the ranks did but what you get from him is honesty and a footballing brain. Today is another example of this.

Needs to work on his finishing if he's going to make it here but he has promise.
He was pretty good finisher in youth teams, it will come with time and confidence. At least he seems pretty well composed and getting into chances. Ronaldo's and Bruno's finishing is on another level thought, really disgrace. Not every young player is Greenwood type of finisher, but it will come.

Was very impressed by him today. Until now I've thought he was mostly about energy and pace. He was a breath of fresh air but I haven't felt there was that much talent there. But today he looked really tidy, inventive, positive and technical. Good to see.

On the relatively few occasions I've watched him for the Under 23s this is how he has looked. I think it's more of a case that he has kept it relatively simple when he first came into the first team but now is feeling more confident at this level. Maybe someone who has seen him more can confirm.

That was an excellent performance. Shame he didn’t cap it with a goal but it was like having Sancho on both wings at times today.

A league in his own compared to Rashford regarding football IQ.

His best game so far I think, love the way he carries the ball with so much pace. Needs some work obviously but that's true for any 19-year old who just started their senior career.

Really impressed. Took responsibility and made good decisions. Hard worker. Surprised by his clever movement as well.

Good first half, average second half. Thought his decision making was particularly sloppy in the second. but the first half he showed a lot more variety so that was good.

I think he might turn out to be the best right-winger we've had since prime Valencia. As a single performance of getting the basics right, Watford has got to be up to there.

That's as much of an indictment of what came before, as it is praise for Elanga. But he looked more comfortable today there than anyone else I can remember off the top of my head.

This must also be one the only times in years that we did more attacking down the right than the left.

I don't think he and Sancho have particularly similar styles at all.

Do any of our resident Swedes know if there's talk of him making his debut for the NT in March?

Can't wait to see him alongside Zlatan and Linda

Nice one. I was talking about the little bursts of acceleration and the footballing iq. I thought he was superb today.

I thought he certainly showed better football IQ than Sancho today who got it wrong again for the most part.

He really showed some great balance and speed this game playing from the right, good technique and dribling too. His attacking movement has been very good lately. Clever little player coming out of the academy and at this moment he's the breath of fresh air we all desperately need.

So impressed with this guy

initially I wasn’t convinced but I can see improvements in his all round play

Best game he’s had for me, and by some distance. First game he’s looked a genuine footballer. Those early goal streaks rarely last that long, and prior to today, he didn’t really do anything at all with the ball, just passed it back to where it came from. Today he tried to link play with short passing moves and ran at his full back, which was encouraging.

RW isn’t even his natural position and the kid has delivered a well respected performance even for established stars let alone Elanga who has just come onto the first team.

Its laughable seeing those making excuses for Rashford as if that is the reason for his lacklustre displays.

He played well today and I hope he has a long and successful career at the club. But let’s be honest. The fact he is our main shining light up front really highlights how abominable Rashford and Ronaldo have been playing. I reckon there’s close to a dozen PL strikers who would immediately improve us.

Obviously best not to overhype him and just be positive and supportive of him instead and say he played well. But there were genuinely 1 or 2 moments today where he reminded me a little bit of Mbappe moving at high speed with the ball under control and able to play his part in attacking moves. If he can play to the level he played today consistently he'll be a starter at United

Man of the match for me

a 19yo kid that came up in the line up without fear or inferiority complex and was very active and gave his all.

almost scored with that double pass and back heel from Pogba. Wish more players would take an example from him.

Just hope he gets taken up for swedish national team now. We always go for experience too much.

Elanga should be in the squad even if our squad is better than Man Uniteds squad funny enough.

He can play for England as well so I am a bit worried he picks them. He will not start for England in world cup though. For Sweden he might.

Yes I agree with your every point.

Didn't think he had that in him. Encouraging.

Really bad miss unfortunately.

The amount of times this kid scored for us or looked good, I think you can give him some slack mate.
Bruno in the last few matches stood 5 or 6 times 1v1 in front of the keeper and missed all of his chances.
Cristiano, Paul and especially Marcus looks shite.

Extra points for playing this well on the right with Wan-Bissaka as his attacking partner, though it did allow him to take players on.

Januzaj is a better player than Rashford.

Sancho left side and Elanga right is the way to go for the next few weeks. Surprised by how confortably he was gliding in field yesterday. So refreshing to see that.

Cameroon are trying to convince him to play for them. His father wants it too apparently. There seems to be a struggle among his handlers over this
