I love the way the head a

Thanks for it all Fideo! all the best although it will be at united. We won't forget the zigzag in Lisbon.

Maybe.

I was originally so confused every time I read something where a Real fan was talking about ADM as there was the word noodle dotted around the page.

For those who didn't know, noodle (el Fideo) is his nickname.

Did you watch the game today?

Our wingers are absolutely awful and seeing as we rely on wing play so much I'd say we definitely do need him.

We didnt use wingers today, we used wingbacks and while Di Maria has been used for a time during matches at leftback by Mourinho, he's unlikely to be any more convincing defensively in that position than Valencia and Young

Far more likely is that Di Maria would be used in the Robben role at the world cup next to a striker

Desperately needed him (along with a good midfielder and a commanding defender) today. No pace, no drive, no creativity. It was a sad sight to see.

He'll definitely return that buzz we've lacked in our attack.

Now to sort out our midfield. Keep going Eddy.

Confirmed by Xabi Alonso.

Great bit of business, will be the one player that'll turn our attacking woes around.

From Valencia and Young to ADM. It's like trading in your Nissan Micra for a McLaren F1.

This will be an incredible signing but as you are all saying, it won't solve our problems.

Cleverly/Fletcher in midfield was awful. If don't sign anybody else (after Di Maria) then we will need to hope Carrick regains his 12/13 form/fitness and Herrera stays fit. Those 2 in midfield on form would certainly do a good job for us with 4 of Di Maria/RvP/Rooney/Januzaj/Mata ahead.

If Madrid want a player they wouldn't agree any fee.

They are not daft. He wants to leave as he isn't guaranteed first team now with Perez' signings.

The manager and fans want to keep him, as do the club, but they aren't going to let him run down his contract when there is money on the table.

Wingers, Wingbacks, whatever. Fact of the matter is, anything that comes down the wings for the past two years has been blow average and it needs to get better. Di Maria will give us another option.

Plus, our defence isn't looking too shabby at the moment. Our midfield is still shocking though.

Why is he called el Fideo? Because he looks like a noodle?

And we don't really need.
You're right, we don't need a winger, Ashley Young and Valencia are good enough. We've got plenty of players in our attack who can actually do something with the ball, run with it and make chances.

One thing ADM will give us is massive flexibility. He'll be able to play the Robben role, as a traditional winger (L or R side), as the #10 or in a midfield three (as he did so impressively at times for Madrid last season).

Can't wait.

Central midfield and defence. Di Maria's signing makes our total spending for this summer reach £135m and yet we've still got a shite midfield and a shite defence. Do you think we'll spend a lot more? I have no doubt we'll bring in quantity but do you really think we'll bring in quality to fill those holes with the money left. I severely doubt it.

I have no problem signing Di Maria. Great player and one we need. But he does not solve out problems single handedly.

No, Real actually want to sell him. Don't get that mistaken. The fans, Ancelotti, the players, they don't but the most important man at Real does. That's Perez. If Ozil was sold for £45m, then I'm afraid Di Maria should be sold for something similar. Both players were/are in the situation. Paying £20m above what Arse paid for Ozil is a joke, quite frankly.

I just wonder who you would buy who would offer us what Di Maria does (a proper traditional United number 7) for less money?

Rodriguez went for more money off the back of a decent world cup, Di Maria has been at the top for a while now and is adored by the Madrid fans and management. They don't want him to go but he has decided to move on.

You don't pass the opportunity to sign a player like Di Maria especially when your number 7 shirt is sat there waiting...

Do you remember the times of Ronaldo flying down the wing, creating chance after chance? Well it is coming back!

Our defence thats let in 3 goals in 2 games? Yeah perfect

The point is Di Maria is incredibly unlikely to play in wide areas unless we change the formation. We're not going to break the british record fee then ask him to do a defensive job that restricts what he's actually good at. We're going to set him free to attack and maybe he'll pull wide from the forward line like Robben did, but he's not going into the team replacing Young and Valencia. It'll be one of the forwards

It's a brilliant signing but the fee is absolutely crazy, and much like Mata, Di Maria won't have the greatest set up to thrive in the current United side, they better have more money left because lumping it all on a winger won't solve those problems.

Still, can't wait to see him at United.

We're playing a new system, we're going to concede goals but we've look now where near as awful as we did last year in defence. Admittedly, we look shaky, but who wouldn't with two reserve players in defence?

Di Maria gives us another option, we can change formation to 4-3-3 or utilise him like LvG did Robben in the World Cup. When these kind of players come available you'd be mad not to sign them.

I am not sure why people are going on about the fee? I don't feel it is that overpriced when you consider what the top tier wingers of the same mould go for.

He is only 26 years old and has bags of experience at the very top level.

Who else is there in that bracket for cheaper? Serious question.

Picking up another Ronaldo for 12m doesn't happen that much you know

Fantastic signing, transfer fee for me as a supporter is irrelevant.

Woody has delivered his promise, more to come I think.

£63.9m is the fee including add-ons, right? If so, then it's not a ridiculous deal. Would make it £52m basic fee.

Need him desperately. Will bring some much needed pace and skill. Best signing of the summer.

If anyone is arsed about the fee, would you rather 60m on a world class player, or in the pockets of the Glazer family?

Great signing. Hopefully a couple more to arrive too.

Who cares about the fee, we can afford to pay what Real Madrid want for Di Maria and it's a nice chance to actually pay some serious bucks on a player we desperately need. It's not my money, the club has earned the right to spend such amounts.
