Relax.

After last night the only one thing journos can do to drag a story out and get internet hits is to bullshit about fees....something they couldnt possibly know. Its all too easy when dealing with euros and pounds to 'accidentally' replace one with the other to make it seem more expensive than it is.

it happens with every transfer and people fall for it every time.

it will be between 50-60m including add ons

It happens with every United transfer..most big clubs get their shit done promptly

I'd love him here and at the end don't care too much about the price but we can't keep overpaying so ridiculously. We've basically payed twice the value for four of our last five signings, counting ADM.

Twice? No way.

75 million (GBP) would be scandalous for Di Maria. He's not that young. He's not the best player in the world. He's not going to get you 50 goals a season ala Ronaldo. That's probably not the way to look at it but when Real are only paying 10 million more for Ronaldo, 24 and Bale, 24 it seems unjust. Having said that it does seem alot less painful for the pocket when its 10 million lower at 65 million and we all know 10million is feck all in football.

But the money isn't mine so I guess it's fine by me.

It's not 75m £ though.It's 70 rising to 75 euro. About 55 rising to 58 (in sterling). It's still a lot though.

True but the money could be added to other targets that would help strengthen other weaknesses in the squad, so I think it's justifiable to be annoyed with the money spent.

I just asked a spanish friend on Twitter (Real Madrid fan too)

1) 100% 65-70m Euros!!!!!!!!!!!! No reports in Spain at all about £75m!!! All can calm down :)

2) The Real Madrid fans are so feckin unhappy and crying that Di Maria leaves :D

If the player has already agreed to sign for us and is happy with the terms we've offered it's pointless Madrid even putting up a fight. Once a player's head has been turned it's just a matter of time. He'll have absolutely no intention of playing for Madrid now so they'll have to sell him this week or risk upsetting the whole team.

Let's look at the facts here.

1. LvG name dropped Di Maria a couple of weeks ago.
2. Ancelotti said Di Maria wanted to leave. Di Maria feels unwanted by the club and was left out of the Super Cup squad.
3. Di Maria's wife has liked lots of pics of her hubby in United kits etc, and Rojo has done the same.
4. Balague came out on national telly and said something that was instantly backed by numerous other high profile ITK sources, proving a leak from either side.
5. Balague reported the price will be 60 - 70 Million EUROS. (about £56 Million)
6. Agent Ronaldo did his best to explain to Di Maria about Manchester United and the importance of his old shirt number 7. That would be invaluable and you can only imagine the glowing reference and praise he would have given.
7. Di Maria didn't train today and looks like he only turned up to empty his locker and say goodbye.

Balague is not going to risk his reputation by saying this on live telly if he wasn't 100% sure about it. It makes NO SENSE to do so, it would be akin to professional suicide. He can make up as much shite on Twatter, but saying it live to millions around the world is a totally different kettle of fish. Nobody but Perez wants Di Maria to leave, but unfortunately (fortunately for us) he holds the only vote in these matters. I think anything written now is going to be Madrid posturing because they have received a serious backlash from their fans, so they have to appear to be reluctant to let him go. Mendes was flying back from Singapore last night to help sort it. It will be clearer by tomorrow, but all the right noises and signs are there.

I'll add a little that I posted last night but it got lost in the mayhem.

From the trend I can see on here and other forums and Twatter etc, most opposition fans are slating the price or saying United don't need Di Maria or having a go at their spending. Also, many are ignoring Shaw, Rojo and Herrera and the fact many have said there will be TWO more additional signings next week.

Basically they are all shitting themselves at the thought of it all. Liverpool, Tottenham, Everton and Arsenal fans especially will all be thinking it ALMOST rules out the possibility of United finishing beneath them again this season, therefore putting at risk their chance of scraping in to the Champions League places or even the Europa League. A signing of this magnitude and the possibility of more to come, I should think it will unnerve most fans of most clubs. I should think only Chelsea and City fans will be sitting more comfortably, but at the same time, the possibility of that much talent clicking under a world class manager like LvG should have them worried a fair bit too.

Di Maria's wife/girlfriend has liked a picture of Rojo and Di Maria with a United badge shopped in behind them, or so I heard. I think it's pretty much done.

So why the disapproval of having Mata on the left side of a 3 behind the striker, citing his pace as the reason for it?

I've not said that but Mata, his strength lies in the center, I would rather have Rooney/Januzaj or Di Maria in a wider area as that extra pace provides an ability to glide past pacey wingbacks, something that isn't as ready a requirement for a central player against center backs.

Wow. That is top level muppetry.
Nice post though.

Woodward: 'We're ready to break transfer records.

Madrid: 'Excellent, in that case, it'll be £75m for Di Maria

Didn't Madrid up the price for Higuain at the last moment for Arsenal and they pulled out ?

I doubt that'd be the case here as Jorge Mendes is probably the go between here and they can't upset him.

Barcelona are saying they paid £65m for Suarez, a player who you could make a solid argument for being the best player in the world. (Certainly the best striker)

If we pay much above £50m I will be disappointed.

You're not really saying this.

The Ancelotti press conference is just the pre-match, there's unlikely to be any news.

Are we really making jokes from PaddyPower's twitter account now?

This is done. He isn't training today.
