Ange Postecoglou | New Spurs boss on 4 year contract

No, they have a system and patterns of play. Not counter and moments.
Well, counter attacks can also be a well drilled pattern of play, focusing on them might not be an absence of those. Nonetheless I agree that there is a difference because I think Ole found a way to make it work what Mou wanted his team to do (and therefore slowly trailed off as that influence vanished over time), while Postecoglou definitely implemented a new approach into his team.

With SAF yes, but not with Ole. With Ole it was mostly a back 6, Fred and MCtom always stuck in front of the defence and Rashford Bruno waiting for a counter-attack or individual brilliance moment.

However long it lasts, hes been a breath of fresh air....

Yes, as I said I think Ole's early success was caused by relying on what Mou drilled tactically into the team while Ole had the man-management skills to make the players perform in that system (again). So I believe Mou drilled that in them and as long as that foundation was there they could successfully pull it off.

Yep.

Early days.

They seem to be creating chances at ease, look capable of scoring loads and actually want to be playing football.

No Europe, only play once a week, bodes well for Ange gelling his team. But you know they will have a Spursy moment.
Yep, that was pretty Spursy. They were due a thrashing.

High line was the right move. That's how big clubs play.

Never abandon philosophy

Very naive with his tactics once they were down to 9.
Just batten down the hatches and hold on for a point,
Whilst it is sometimes commendable to be brave on the pitch, in that situation it would have been better to play safe.

Got badly exposed by one of the worst Chelsea teams this century.
Let’s not pretend Chelsea was great. They only won because they played 9 men. Spurs could have been 2/3 up in first 15 mins.

Quality manager on the premise he can be more consistent I'll believe him as genuine around the 22 game mark as it's enough of a sample size to see where they are going. I certainly don't think it's a bounce, but the mark of great managers over the last 5 years has been the ability to go on winning runs. Lost tonight but the performance has been fantastic which is more than can be said for any game United have lost this season.

He blew it big time. There people who said his stubbornness in wanting to attack constantly would end up costing them.

Players let him down. Started great, unlucky not to be 2-0 up and playing some top football

Then 2 red cards and a million other incidents happened….mad game

I hear people use the word "bloke" when describing him. Well this had proper "hold my beer" energy!

Some of the most asinine decisions I have ever seen in this game of football. Absolutely stupid and suicidal.

He might have gotten something here, even with 9, Chelsea were that bad. It's a weird one, but I think he can write it off and thank his lucky stars that it wasn't a competant side otherwise he'd have been giving a drubbing.

Arguably got away with it v United
Got away with it v Liverpool

A good Wolves team next, then Villa and after that City away. Interesting next few weeks for Spurs.

I don’t think so. A fly’s dick offside for Dier’s goal then they missed a sitter from the free kick right after. 1 of those goes in they probably get the point

4-1 flatters Chelsea big time

Think he may have lifted them a little too much. Romero is an idiot so can always let you down but the other bloke was a walking red card from the first whistle.

Really? It's one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.

If Chelsea had more composure it could have been 10-1. Everytime they passed it around for a minute or two they had opportunities for a 2 on 1 with the keeper.

Tbf people did say he will stick to his principles even if it means some occasional drubbing.

Well done and thanks for the entertainment Ange.

Should have been an easy win but the players had meltdown. No reason to sit back as it doesn't guarantee not conceding.

The way they set up, this wouldn't have come as a surprise to Celtic fans. It always felt like they were due a hiding.

Great when you have momentum and players in form, so it'll be interesting to see how they respond with Newcastle, City, Villa and West Ham to come. Regardless it's fun to watch so something for Spurs fans to cheer about.

Agreed.

They created opportunities to level it at 1-2 down and would've probably conceded anyway with 9 men and Dier as their best defender.

Just a bunch of whataboutism since we are shit and Spurs aren't.

He's so relatable <3

This brought me back to when a middle-aged, pot-bellied relative of mine tried a daring skateboard trick in front of his kids and subsequently broke his back.

Yes but let's be honest, everyone saw this coming the moment Chelsea starting get chance after chance. Brave decision to go high after the cards but after the first three chances that Chelsea missed it became very obvious that it wasn't going to work. The smart move would have been to drop back and try to change the dynamics of the game. He just went full suicidal.

No it doesn’t, Chelsea had several other chances they completed wasted. Dier was offside so it’s nothing to do with a bit of bad luck.

His tactics of "give Chelsea a ton of chances, they're so crap we'll still have a chance to steal it" did nearly work in fairness.

They lost 2 players to red cards then 2 of their best to injury. They we’re playing with 3 players that started the game at one point, pointless to sit back and just lose.

It almost worked. The Dier goal and then the miss from the set piece straight after. Woukd have been embarrassing for Chelsea if they didn’t nick the last couple of goals

I agree. If Ange wasn't the manager of Spurs and he was at a genuine big club the pundits would be berating him for not having a plan B and playing a suicidal high line.

Basically they'd be berating him for the exact same thing they're praising him for now. It's actually quite bizarre.

I mean look at that:

Most teams in the prem would be pasting them.
