I think it's fair to say the next 5 months are the biggest of his career. If OGS doesn't play him and if he doesn't show himself as an auto starter....I think he'll be allowed to leave.

I think we are going too see him getting many more minutes the next couple of months and personally I think he is going to do well.
So we have nothing to worry about.

I don't think Ole is a mug for one bit and already knows he has a potential special talent on his hands and will treat him accordingly. I have faith he is staying and will fulfil his potential at our club.

Im not even sure what his best position is at this point in his career but he looked wasted at Valencia as an inverted winger. He's looked good as a holding midfielder IMO, but he's also adept at being the number 10 so it all depends on where Ole thinks he fits in best.
I've never liked him as a 10. Thought when he played as a 10 at youth level, it was his worst season at youth level. Maybe my memory is awful, but I remember him playing like Thiago at the Milk Cup. I loved his performances in that role. As a 10 I felt like he looked for his shot too much and his creativity wasn't all that great in comparison to a 10 like Januzaj at the time or like in recent times Gribbin and Gomes. I think a midfield role that allows him to venture forward at times is what suits him best.

He's such a good little technical player, we don't have enough technical players in our team. Hopefully Ole will give him more minutes, I would like him to start against Huddersfield.

I'd also like to see him start at Huddersfield and also get a lot of minutes in before the end of the season.

Think Ole will handle him well and can see him having a decent career here.

Seemed to play as a left inside forward when he came on - the position he played for Valencia.

With Martial, Rashford, Lingard, Sanchez, Mata and Lukaku who can occupy the forward positions, it be interesting to see how much game time he gets if that's the position Ole wants to play him.

Of course he can play in centre midfield too. More of an 8 than a 6. He and Fred could be back up to Pogba and Herrera, with Fellaini back up to Matic.

Considering Fred given chances to start this game, next game vs Bournemouth or/and Newcastle is/are likely Pereira's turn to impress Ole.

Lingard may even be rested, seems knackered, so another chance there at the wing.

I agree - bournemouth should be the right game for him

I think he probably would have come on for Lingard or Fred later on if Ole didn't need to make the subs early in the second half to regain control of the game. Honestly think he should be ahead of Fred in the midfield rotation at the moment.

As good as it was to see Gomes get a game, I do hope it didn't annoy Pereira to be overlooked at a time where he himself has barely played. Hopefully Ole's looking to start him in the next match or two.

All will be forgiven once he starts on Sunday or even against reading.. He'll get his chance, I'm sure if it

The way I see it is Ole took Fred off and replaced him with Herrera (and Young for Dalot) as we needed a change and Ole wanted a bit more experience and the other two weren't doing what he wanted. He then wanted to give young Gomes 10 minutes when the game was wrapped up and placed him high up the pitch to minimise the risk. I'm sure under Ole Andreas will get his chance as you said.

He'll play against Reading and he'll have to prove he deserves his chance as much as the others who are going to play this game.

It's so annoying he hasn't been given proper chances to showcase his talent. At least with Ole, he has hope on getting good minutes, compare to when the 'special virus' was in charge.

Some may disagree but I have seen more that convinces me about Andreas than about Fred.

I think he'd do well in a more attacking midfield role as well. For example, we could play a 4-4-2 with him and Pogba/Mata/Lingard as the two more attacking midfielders and Matic/Herrera/Pogba/McT occupying the more defensive roles. Could work well away from home against the bigger teams. A pair of Rashford/Martial/Lukaku/Sanchez would be the strikers, obviously. Alternatively he could play as an 8 or 10 when Pogba needs a rest.

I don't think he's that good. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player. Obviously. But I don't think he can come in and take a starting position in United's midfield long-term. Maybe as a squad player, but I don't think he will be happy with that. He's not good enough in an AMC-position and not fast and powerful enough for a wing-position. As a central midfielder, his defensive game isn't quite up to the standard required. I just don't see any position he can make his own. As I said; good player, but not for United. I can see him in like Valencia or Villarreal or something like that, maybe even Benfica or Porto. But when we lose him, and we will, I don't think we will regret it.

I'd rather we give minutes to Andreas than Fred. I know it won't happen, but I feel Andread could easily surplus Fred if given the game time.

The fact that he's almost 23 and still doesn't know his best position is worrying. On both his loans to La Liga, he played as a wide midfielder in a 442 formation. We have tried playing him at CDM but that hasn't really worked out ( I thought he did well in the first few games before Matic came in and Jose forgot about him).

It will be interesting to see where Ole plays him. I would like to see him play in Herrera/Fred's position. He seems to have good technical ability and passing range to do well in that role. A start against Bournemouth will do him a world of good.

Both of them have plenty to prove. But earlier in the season when they both started, I felt Andreas did a better job than Fred.

Never in the history of the caf has a player been lauded so widely by so many for having done so little...

We always get like this with our hot academy prospects who don't get much game time but it's absurd with Pereira.

By all accounts he did fine at Valencia but he has done absolutely feck all in a red shirt apart from a couple of nice free kicks. He's looked completely lost whenever he's been given game time.

He's not even a Januzaj where he looked class in a couple of games and we couldn't ever let it go. He's not had one genuinely great game yet.

In the current set up, imo if he was given game time as a b2b player between Pogba and Matic he would flourish, he's got all the attributes needed.

It is bizarre. He couldn't hold down left wing at Valencia and the confidence that he is our answer at number 6 is just ... wonder what everyone knows that we don't

Use your eyes, you'd see how gifted and talented he is, and how good he could be. He's got the skillset needed to be a top midfielder.
He was starting games on the wing for Valencia until he got injured, and they had Soler vying for the same position in a 442. The odds were completely against him. Soler was their own player and an actual right midfielder unlike Pereira who was on loan, was being played out of position, and getting injured didn't help him too.
He has never been a 6, it was just Mourinho playing him there for the sake of it. You won't see many people advocating for him to be played there.
He's barely ever had a chance in the first team to play in a proper position that suits him. The only time he came close was with Granada and he was impressive in an underwhelming team, scoring five, assisting three and creating 52 chances, the fourth most of any U21 player in europe's big five and the most in La Liga - and that is just in terms of production and chances created.
No one is saying that he is great or that he is the answer to anything, just that he is obviously talented - even though some seem unable to figure it out - and should be giving chances to show what he can do in the right positions. The stars just doesn't seem to be aligning for him.

We usually overrate our youngsters a lot. I think he's a decent player but the talk of some about him here, you can't but feel he's kinda overrated.

People need to manage their expectations and stop overrating young prospects to avoid being disappointed when they actually play.

I think it's more than people just want him to be given a proper chance because he's likely the right 'type' of player that we really need in the midfield. Even if he ends up not being good enough and needs upgrading in the future, in the short-term he might bring a better balance than our other options. Or he might not. Under Mourinho we'll have never known, but hopefully Ole will give him a proper chance. Then it'll be up to him whether he takes it or not.

I don't disagree. I even think he deserves the time given for Fred. We just need to manage expectations for him so when he plays we can evaluate him properly without any kind of disappointment that he didn't reach the fantasy level we put for him before he kicks a ball here.

Man Utd 4:1 Bournemouth
I feel a bit sorry for him. Coming of the bench for a good 15 mins on centre midfield in a game we control and attack plenty, and Bailly does something stupid just moments laters ruining the game.

Hopefully he gets a start against reading.

I think he will play the FA cup. If we play with a front 3 of Sanchez, Lukaku and Mata for that match, he will have enough fire power ahead of him to show what he can do. It's amazing how we suddenly seem to have a really good squad..

He’ll start against Reading which will be a better chance for him to make a claim to start rotationally.

Didn't get to show anything, but he will probably play against Reading at least.

Shame things went the way they did just as he got on, but him being put on ahead of Fellaini is another tick in the box for Ole.
