He’s got McTominay on the bench because he wants someone who he can bring on to shore up the defence if needed. Rightly or wrongly he doesn’t trust the defensive side of Andreas. But no it’s an obsession, so much of an obsession that I’ve been able to give you several examples that show you’re talking out of your wumming arse. If you’re going to make something up to support your agenda, then at least make the effort to ensure there’s a modicum of truth in it.
Damn this exchange got spicy .

Clearly it is rightly about Andreas' defensive side. But I think it is more that Mourinho doesn't do: "even though we know you're shit and uncomfortable at these important aspects I'm just going to ignore how crucial it is and keep you in the team for the sake of it" unless you're an established "star" or senior experienced player. A la Fellaini/Matic in that position.

In truth I don't really want Andreas in this current incarnation of the team, it is a bit of a mess. I'd have him 3rd behind Fred/Herrera as the pressing and combative in between midfielder between Pogba and the responsible defensive players. I don't really want him getting chomped at the base of midfield and then having fans throw tirades about how shit he is. A la early Fred this season.

God, you pro-Mourinho guys are so blinkered.

https://www.redcafe.net/threads/why-did-we-buy-Fred.442354/

Mata has only played 580 minutes and not even Mourinho is dumb enough to drop Sanchez because of height.

It's not just height, its height, strength, running around like a mad man and whatever agenda Mourinho want to promote now.

Pro Jose camp am I? Thanks for your insight. As you're well off the mark.
Simply pointing out the flaws in the tripe that's posted on here repeatedly. Say a lie enough and become the truth is the way here, but some of us call it out with the missing facts.

Pray tell how high we are in the league for distance covered, as you're stating running a lot is an essential to be picked by Jose? I'd wager we're way behind many of our direct rivals.

Yeah Fred, Sanchez and Mata are all well renowned for their height :p.

Maybe just maybe he’s a tad overrated on here. A bit part player @ Valencia equates to should be getting regular game time @ United. Yes he had a good preseason, but it means very little.

Mata and Sanchez arent playing in the land of giants aka our midfield.

Fred gets some games. But he seems to be the only one at the moment, suggesting the other smaller players are competing with him for that one spot. Fred came off for Ander this week for example when Matic was the one who was completely useless.

So clearly there is 1 spot up for grabs in CM where you don't have to be at least 6 foot 2.

Fred, Ander and Andreas are competing for it. While the other 2 spots are for Matic, Fellaini, Pogba and McTominay

He couldn't get in Valencia's squad, no reason to suggest he should be in ours. I don't see training but nobody who has ever seen him closely has ever seemed to really rate him. I don't see other clubs banging doors down for him.

Whose current form shows just how justified the ‘crying’ was?
Plays well = plays regularly. Funny that. If you can't see an entirely different change in attitude from Martial then I don't know what you're watching.

Plays regularly = is allowed to showcase the fact he can play an awful lot better than what has been served before him. Funny that.

Harry Kane couldn't get into Norwich's squad, your point? Also what does this even mean?

Martial is now tracking runners and helping back! Completely different to before he was rightly benched. Everyone is noticing his improved effort in that regard. People on here acting like his game is no different are blind. He still needs to up it another level in terms of making runs and tracking back if anything.

He was dropped for Matic straight away, hasn't had a look in since. Bit unfair really considering he came on and did well in his last sub appearance.

I'd rather we get him in for some home games and if its a problem we just suck it up. He'll never learn the role and become what Matic was if he doesn't get the same opportunities as Rashford does. Strangely Jamie Redknapp isn't up in arms about his lack of opportunities.

Hes showed nowhere near the same level of ability. And hes not english.

29 appearances for Valencia last season and would have got close to 40 if not for injuries. 37 the year prior for Granada.

The noticeable difference in tempo when he's on the pitch and his recent cap for Brazil would suggest you're not paying much attention.

Yes current form being the operative word.

Was having a mare but back on track. Ironically those blaming JM for it now not giving credit for his form.

Thanks for highlighting it.

Boggles the mind.

I think ability wise he's not far off Rashford who has had alot of mins on the pitch for us over several years. I'm suggesting unless we afford Pereira similar then we'll just never know. We might as well sell/loan him out again I thought the whole point of him being here was we could further his development better ourselves.

Change of attitude = opportunity to play more. If only he managed to get that into his head months before.

Don’t waste your time on halfwits.

Also, extra so because of Matic’ form since coming in. Seems it’s always one step forward and one step back with this team. Should be an option when we so clearly start to dominate possession, usually in the second half.

Hope to see him again soon.

Which players does he pick who don't "run a lot"? It's why martial was dropped in the first place. Him failing to execute his tactics is another mark against him.

Attributing Martial resurgence to some sort of Mourinho master class has to be some of the most delusional drivel I've seen written on these boards.

Martial is playing well in spite of Mourinho. The man has wasted 2 years of his development and career.

I pray to heaven that he won't be here past this season so we won't have to put up with some absolute puke inducing delusional nonsense that get written by some posters because they're stuck in Mourinho's rectum.

Anyone else losing their shit over the lack of chances Pereira's getting at the moment? He could be our Coutinho if played in the right position.

Yes! He deserves more chances. Hopefully the next ‘easy on paper’ home game. Like any young player, he will make the odd mistake, but deserves more chances no doubt.
I think he looks good as a 6 as well.

It is disappointing.

Going into the season I knew what we were going to get - boring football but we might get some good results. But Mourinho talking about Andreas, saying he saw something in him and starting him seemed like it was going to be one of the most exciting things for us this season. Someone with a bit of flair being added to the team. But then 1 match against Spurs where Mourinho sent him out in front of another slow start from Lindelof and Ander playing RCB for the first time and struggling... And then he doesnt get a look in. Like that was somehow his fault.

Even if Mourinho went off him after 1 bad day anchoring the midfield, we know he's a good CM and can compete for a wide role. So we should be seeing him there if not at the base of midfield.

Now compare that with Carlos Soler flourishing for Valencia, a player Andreas wasnt that far off last season. Soler is Valencia's best player in the champions league with 2 assists and 1 goal in 3 starts and 1 sub appearance. Andreas could be not far from that but he's not being given a sniff. To think, some people were upset with him for going on loan. He might be asking for another one soon.

I hope another manager will unlock his full potential. It's not going to happen with jose mourinho unfortunately.

I would love to see a diamond midfield with him at the base, Herrera on the right, Fred on the left and Pogba at the top of it. With Martial and Sanchez up top. The only issue is having a good RB that can bomb up and down the wing (think Dalot could be that guy).

Yet another player that isn't getting the chances he deserves.
170 minutes played so far this season,.
Matic has been a complete liability in the majority of games.
Periera is literally 50/50 for great/shit games this season..

Another Mourinho masterclass?
Hope he goes on Loan in Jan.
Amusing seeing the Jose backers shit on him now though.

I still find it funny that people had a go at him for being on loan last season . Claiming how he would get minutes and brainwashed crap like that.

Agreed. If anything, he's further down the pecking order this season, with the addition of Fred. It's crazy McTominay seems to be ahead of him though, Pereira looks levels above him.

After not playing in a while, you thought he'd start the Manchester derby?
Yeah, because that's exactly what I said. I'm literally just wondering why the bolded has happened.
Is he supposed to be on the bench ahead of Fred and Mata?
Wouldn't mind him over Fred tbh, but it was just a general comment. He hasn't been given a chance at all recently, even with Matic's poor form. Considering all the talk in preseason about how Carrick was working with him, it seems weird for him to disappear when our current holding mid isn't exactly pulling up trees.

He's better than Fred and Herrera he just needs to start playing. Seriously why did we get Fred? He's just like Cleverley and that's not a compliment.

Mourinho's taken a dislike to him after the Pogba fiasco I reckon, he left early vs Derby with Pogba and spoke semi publicly about the feud in an interview. Very pitty.

I wonder what's going on with him.

He had a bad game once therefor he’s done.

Unless you’re one of Mourinho’s chosen ones, you basically cannot make a single mistake otherwise you’ll never get back in the team. Lukaku can be trash for 10 games in a row and still make the team. Other players (such as Pereira) can have one bad half and never get picked again. Jose logic.

He did come on against Chelsea - Jose just lacks imagination. He's always picking the same tired team.
